I disagree about the emotion aspect. The comics in 2001 did a far better job selling the characters than any book has (and yeah, I've read them all). When you add in the MNOLG, which opened up their entire world for us, gave us consistent characters, and allowed us to become actually absorbed into the island of Mata-Nui, and it's culture, you get a much larger emotional connection than the action-over-packed Scholastic books have ever allowed. Besides, Greg only has like, five basic characterizations, and he uses them for everyone. That's frustrating.

Aw, I thought Ray-Guh was pretty cool when I met him. Like a young Christian Bale meets young Stephen Colbert. Seriously though, somebody misses the humour. :( (Ray really is super awesome. One of the coolest people I've met this past year.)

So that's where some guy went to. EDIT: Come on now. That's the "scary" kind of character assassination. Besides, he's already a treasure trove of legitimate slams as is... -JINZO

I agree. He's far too detailed to be a good set reviewer. I just want to know if it looks cool, right?

The official line has always been that "BIONICLE" is a portmanteau of Biological Chronicle.

Maybe there's a scrapped-Great Spirit elbow there...

Look, BZP has a review of Gresh up. It is so terrible. Doesn't the ignorant reviewer realize how terrible these new sets are? Man, he must be an idiot.

Man I miss the original Kanohi. All other Kanohi have been suck compared to the beautiful aesthetics the 2001 Kanohi possessed.

We ran out of Mocha and signature hot chocolate fifteen minutes before close. It's been a busy last few weeks. Haha, I'm just trying to show off my gallery. Because I love it, haha. Your pictures were fine, and do exactly what they would need to do for new set pictures. :D

I work in the biggest of the Tulsa-area Super Targets, and let me tell you, we were scary busy on Christmas Eve. Though luckily, I work in the Starbucks, and we were less busy than the rest of Target was. Thankfully! There was not a cart to be found throughout the entire store, because they were all taken! On the plus side, I received a professional lightbox for Christmas today, so here's hoping my photos get that much better. :D

Looks worse than it does normally. The gaps are bothersome, but the spikes look weird coming from behind his head, and he loses the delicious depth the shoulder spikes give him now. My Wal*Mart JUST stocked up on half the Glatorian, all the Agori, and Tuma on the 23rd. By the end of the day, most of them were gone. I got there earlier while they were stocking the shelf, watched them open the LEGO boxes, stock the shelves, and when I came back later? One Tuma. Which I bought.

Forget that Gresh gallery. This one's better. Gresh. Those are the three I have, and Gresh is by far the coolest looking one of the bunch. Though Strakk is a close second. Tarix just sucks. You'd be fine either way, to be honest.

I haven't experienced that in quite awhile either, Jinzo, and my account isn't that much newer than yours. I do know that BZPower goes 'down' at roughly 2 or 3 AM CST every night so the database can compile statistics. I asked Andrew (Black Six) about that in person, and that was the answer I received, as that is the only time of the day I have issues connecting.

He doesn't deserve better. He's terrible. The worst of the 2009 sets, and valuable only for his pearl gold Inika shoulderpads. I have him. I hate him. (I bought him for the gold!) And hurray, appreciation for my Gresh pictures!

You guys know that some of us on EB are BZP staff, right? Seems silly to be advertising what you're going to do when we can see them beforehand... Also, all of you 2009 summer set bloggers... Go to hell. Now I have to go sift through all those blogs and make sure no one is posting pictures or descriptions. Rawr.

This one.

I'm going to tell you the same thing I tell aspiring MOCers on BZP. It's not about human proportions, it's about proportions that are aesthetically pleasing, and work with the set. If a set has Gorilla proportions, fine, the whole thing best work in that manner, or the long arms are going to look goofy. If you're going for a beastial look, that's cool, but the proportions need to work within the sphere that has been created. In Skrall's case, he just looks dumb. It has nothing to do with the proportions being human-like, it has everything to do with the fact that everything he is, put together, looks goofy and ridiculous. His body is this weird thin twig, with these wide shoulders. His arms have this god-awful new blade pieces sticking up to high heavens, with arms that reach near the floor. He has these goofy legs, with those goofy new armour pieces making it look like he has bubbling thighs, and the overall effect is goofiness and hilarity. Case in point: Strakk has the exact same length arms as legs. That's a huge human proportion no-no. He also has a hunched back, a forward-mounted head, and the overall effect is that of, say, an icy cave-troll. The proportions work with each other to lend an air of aesthetic value to the set. Is he humanly proportioned? No. Is he better for it? Yes.

Don't get this at all? Skrall is the one I think looks the absolute goofiest. Goofily skinny, silly proportions, and really pretty lame bladed shoulders. I like the shield, don't like the rest. I like Gresh and Strakk, because they have character. Both their 'helmet/mask' things add an actual characterization to the sets, much as the 2001 Kanohi did for the Olda. And that's awesome.

That's the focus for some of us. ;)

Bionicle is considered similar to Technic because it was originally branded under the Technic brand. Originally, you see, Bionicle sets emphasized functions over action-figure-ability, as can be seen by the original 'baddies' in 2001, the functional Rahi. The original lineup was all about gears, levers, etc. It didn't last, but that's how the connection came to be.

Omi was awesome. Members on BZP were and still are far too immature in their dealings with him. And seriously, that whole drama fest that happened was ridiculously well, ridiculous, and the members involved should be ashamed.

The Axalara doesn't have a switch or button to push that allows you to rapidly fire the Midaks while also flying the ship through the air; the Rockoh T3 does. It's a small thing, of course, but had the set been built with Zamors, somehow, we could have had an awesome multi-firing trigger. Yeah, the Jetrax suffers from the same thing, and I'd complain about it there too, had I written the Jetrax review.

Here's my opinion.

BZP allows discussion of new sets once they have been put on-line by a legitimate retailer. As such, the sets are no longer leaked, as they are available for pre-order.

They'll let anyone be a staff member nowadays.
