  1. The smaller sets sell better, but the point I was making is that the larger set is THE bad guy in order to "force" kids who want to roleplay the adventure to purchase the one big set. If the main bad guy is THE big set, then kids will buy it to have THE villain.
  2. It wouldn't be Core Hunter because he's a small set and that would mean you wouldn't have to buy the big, more expensive set, and that's bad business.
  3. The two pieces don't connect to each other, so it was just a matter of taking off the other torso and putting the newer one on there. I actually don't think they look very good together, but that's me.
  4. All the colours on the Marvel sets are the standard ones.
  5. Yes, I'm doing all three of the Marvel Ultrabuild reviews. And that armour shot was in the review just for you.
  6. BZPower has a Captain America review up, and it is FANTASTIC, with AMAZING PHOTOS. We will also have an Iron Man and a Hulk review up by the end of this week most likely.
  7. Oh yeah I kept forgetting to post that.
  8. Iron Man is boring, he's good, but he's boring. Captain America is the better set.
  9. Just so you guys know if some of the photos load in here as "This picture is currently unavailable" over the next couple of days it's because I'm replacing them on Flickr with actual set-review quality photos for my BZP set reviews, and not these "I just got these quick snaps" photos I had. The Captain America photos are updated, but Hulk and Iron Man might go down for a bit tonight or tomorrow. Depending on when I feel like spending that much time in Photoshop editing. Also, if any of you have anything to do with the Rusherofactory.com site, let them know that's why the photos they snatched without properly linking to are gone.
  10. Okay, more photos: | |
  11. These are the ones from the Superhero sets, but the parts are more relevant in this topic:
  12. So I actually like Captain America a lot in person. His shoulder armour works surprsingly well when it's not floating terribly like in all the promo photos. It lays flat really easily, and it looks great. Iron Man is cool, and I like how that chest piece makes it feel like his torso armour goes up over his shoulders like the movie version. And the Hulk is terrible.
  13. Mine are slated to arrive Saturday. I will have photos up that night most likely.
  14. I ordered them the other day and I got a "shipping confirmation" email, so I guess they just ran out of backstock or somesuch thing. But they're listed as "NOT available for shipping" now, you're right. Though I also guess you're probably right too, probably not actually in stores, but without one around here, I can't try.
  15. Those aren't ball joints, they're sockets.
  16. The ones with the hole all the way through? Those were available last wave in the Witch Doctor, but have also been available en masse since the first wave of Indiana Jones sets, they were a running change in one of the Temple sets. I've had a few hundred of them I bought off of Bricklink several years ago.
  17. This looks great. I know you guys like to change it up, but I can honestly say I think you should stick with this one and never let it go. This looks brilliant.
  18. Furno and Rocka. Evo is terrible and bland.
  19. Hahaha, you're trying to lecture -me- on colour layering.
  20. Evo's breakout set is terrible, and so I'm not really all that worried about him. Rocka I can excuse because his XL set had a basically all gold torso. Otherwise, the sets are remarkable consistent with their first appearances: Furno red, Breez lime, Surge blue, Stormer white, Nex white. So yeah, Evo, Rocka, Bulk (would look better with a silver torso), and Stringer are the outcasts. That's still more that homage their first set than don't. I think the all orange torso would look too garish, and I'm glad they went with the white torso, with the orange printing that basically serves to function as the same bit of orange his chestplate did in the 2.0 version. I always liked the white torso, and was disappointed it wasn't in his 3.0 version. Nex should always be an Orange Julius advertisement.
  21. Furno originally had a solid red torso.
  22. I like that Nex has a white torso. He originally had a white torso, and the consistency is nice.
  23. I read this sarcastically in order to agree with it.
  24. BZPower will be there too (and I think Andrew might have wrangled real full ToyFair passes this year for him and whoever else is going with him). So there will be lots of coverage for those looking for HF sets.
  25. The connection is awkward, and lends it self to that weird shoulders-in-front pose you have going on. The side of the armour should never be facing forward in a neutral pose like it is on this MOC. You should use a ball-joing to connect the shoulders instead, or, if you have to use the Hordika brain, angle it to the side, and back. Then build off of it like that. The axle-holes in this configuration would be pointing up. This would still let you go for an arms-crossing-the-chest look, but also give the shoulders a more natural feel when hanging. Remove the Bohrok eye, they look superficial and tacked on to hide the weird connection. The upper arms should be a tad longer, maybe one or two axle-lengths. They just look puny right now. It's kind of off-putting. The fingers should be moved to the inside of the hand, they look a lot more natural that way.
