It's the opposite. It's the place where people not used to discussion boards and the established story, lore, and canon discussions have happened. It's the Youtube side of the fanbase. Hence the YT style comments in the message board setting. It's... odd. Same.

Considering these seem even further back in the design cycle than the standee image, and that mask was shown recently to have been super-redesigned to the new crown-style mask, I'd not pay the Ignika and heed. It's probably there to establish the BIONICLE idea to retailers during preliminary design-work. I'd expect it to be replaces with the new mask we've seen recently in finalized images. Still 100% certain, personally, that we're getting a hard reboot.

I think there are a few things less finalized in that image than people are thinking (but more than others are hoping). I'm pretty certain the colour schemes are probably here to stay (though I don't think Pohatu is tan nor do I think Gali is dark metallic). I expect some weapon changes, though more colour-based than anything. Though I'm not sure Tahu will end up using the scimitar swords. Mostly I just think people are misjudging some colours.

Those prices combined with the earlier discussion on gears or functions returning really makes me wonder if there is more to these torsos than just a new mold. We can see a good chunk of Tahu, and he's not on par with what HF was giving at 20. I'm expecting some surprise in the torso to explain the higher price points.

Considering they have bar-connections for minifig clips, I doubt very strongly that they would be rubber. I'm positive they will be the same normal plastic as the rest of the masks and armour.

Transformers lore is drastically more complicated, convoluted, and detailed than BIONICLE could have been at its very worst. There is a reason each new franchise, until recently, has been a new iteration, tied together via "alternate universes and also Unicron and the Thirteen sometimes". Check out the TFwiki sometime. To be fair, Transformers has had an extra fifteen to twenty years on BIONICLE, but the comparison is far more apt than you want it to be.

I'm assuming all links to the standee have been removed, then?

EB does not allow embedding leaked images. They allow linking to them for some reason, even though TLG has "sharing" leaked images specifically mentioned in their legal notice they sent out a few years back explaining the leaked image policy to fan sites.

The functions only made sense during the first few sets, when the line was designed, in its entirety, for the "knock the mask off" game. The swinging arms were supposed to knock the masks off. After the change to the axle-connection in the mouth, they really didn't make sense. If they bring the functions back, I'd expect to see something akin to the mask-knocking-off to explain it. I just don't see TLG doing functions for functions' sake.

Pretty sure it's not hair. Pohatu has a weird black blog next to his armour and between his arm too, one that can't be the torso piece behind the armour because the angle would be wrong. And it looks like Kopaka might too? IDK what it is but maybe we're looking at some sort of new torso or torso connection.

BZP received more than the other sites (yes, I said sites, there are two more), and received them earlier than the other sites. I can confirm this. Though EB saying they have six is interesting, we were told it would be five.

No, TLG employees at conventions have actually used the word "bloated" and "confusing". It had nothing to do with the original audience growing up- the whole cyclical nature of the main characters existed almost solely to grab a new audience of kids each time. Fans were constantly aging in and out of the line (which is why target audiences tastes changed so much from 2001 to 2009 as well).

Agreed 100 percent. I'm going to go ahead, based on the pictures we've seen thus far, and say that you'll definitely not be getting all of these.

This will not happen. Designers have said that the CCBS system is here to stay. I talked with a LEGO rep at Brickfair this month, and he said word-for-word "the new system has allowed for more than the old at a lower price, too. I see it being around for a long, long time."

I'm going to go on record and say I'm betting that the 2015 BIONICLE line will see a simultaneous worldwide release in January.

It's possible that mid-2012 is when the decision to bring BIONICLE back was made. New themes can take as long as 3 years from development to release, after all. Perhaps the effort and focus was switched to the development angle and thus HF's budget was knocked down to make way for BIONICLE. Possibility, at least.

Considering the gold mask is a different colour in the image than the colour in question on Lewa, I'm inclined to think it will be keetorange. Also really makes me wonder if he will be changed to jungle.

Oh man. Now that you say keetorange, looking back at it, I'd bet almost anything Lewa is using keetorange. Not sure how I feel about this. Also, speaking of burnt orange... Pohatu? I went and pulled the image up again, and now I'm wondering if that colour is Pohatu's colour. Would be an interesting half-step between the orange 2008 Pohatu and the original brown one.

It might get confusing for some fans who can't (or won't?) let go of the original storyline. But we are a very, very, very, very small part of the financial impact for TLG in regards to the line. This new line will be made for new fans- with a few nods here and there (or you know, huge ones like having the reboot start with our original six Toa, at least, in name). But it won't be for us, and that's what people need to understand. As said countless times, the original story was too complext, too difficult, and too oversaturated for new fans. They thought it was intimidating, so they stayed away. It doesn't matter if all of us here think the story was easy, what matters to TLG, because they are a business, is how new consumers who are going to be the new fans of the new BIONICLE feel. They wanted a new story to begin with, because, again, that was one of the largest consumer complaints about the original line. TLG is not that dumb. They are not going to bring the line back and immediately saddle it with the same problems that caused the original line to be canceled.

No matter what they do, they have to create completely new plots. And as much as I'll bet we'll see some community outreach at some point after the official announcement (whenever that is), AFOLs make up 5% of all LEGO sales. I guarantee you that number is drastically lower for BIONICLE. Considering a good chunk of the original fans are all adults now, TLG should (and most like does) feel free to do whatever they please while keeping only a slight eye on the fanbase. Whatever we all were and are to BIONICLE, a new lineup is going to exist to entice new fans. First and foremost. The original story was named as one of the reasons the line was canceled- it had too much baggage, too much information, and was too complicated and turned potential fans away. TLG will not make the mistake of tying a new BIONICLE line to the original for exactly those reasons.

Both those franchises had reboot films that were better than the "original" films. Amazing Spider-Man has ben lambasted by several critics and fans of the Raimi trilogy (I can't believe that trilogy has fans), but as a Spider-Man geek, the new films understand the interplay between Peter Parker and Spider-Man better than any other adapatation. Webb gets Spider-Man as a character. He gets Peter Parker. And Trek09 is better than Star Trek II. Not a joke. That is all said to say that your idea that reboots "always suck" is misguided. You didn't like those ones, but plenty of other people did. The New Trek movies reinvigorated what had become a dead franchise. Much the way a rebooted BIONICLE will take the original concept and attempt to bring new life to something that had far wilted in its last years. Like I said, based on the information we have from Greg, and speculating based on the images and character reveals in the leaked images- it is going to be a hard reboot.

The Defenders are an unknown factor right now. They could be Matoran, they could be something else. They don't imply either way. But the imagery from everything else? No Nuva names. Redesigned versions of the original masks, with gold versions to collect in what looks like a mask hunt? The original six Toa on elemental backgrounds? Tahu lava-surfing? Not to mention several of them don't have golden armour at all... I am 100 percent certain we are looking at a hard reboot set on a new continuity's Mata-Nui island (or another island in that same role, but in a new continuity nonetheless).

Sure. I leave the names of all the colours to my good friend Aanchir. I just think of it as tealish, lol. As for black not being waterish, it reminds me a bit of the Mahri. Not them as characters or even the sets, but the setting. The deep, dark, depths of water. When I think of water I think of that beautiful light blue of shallow waters on pristine beaches, sure, or of that weird aqua green of lakes or ponds in jungles or forests, but the deep dark depths of the water are black. It sort of makes sense if she ends up black too? I'm just ready for real pictues.

It looks so Takadoxish, I'm not surprised we've all landed on trans light blue. But with all the tealish colours in small numbers of HF bones recently, and appearing in Chima and Friends, what if she's that colour?
