  1. I think I would look at expanding the train station - the HE looks a bit silly stopping at a station with the tiny platform lengths that Lego provide. As such, you could extend the platforms at station in to something more substantial, and provide a bit more of a focus on the opposite side of the street to the modulars. Even if it is simply platforms with fencing to divide them from the street, it is better than green nothing.
  2. Love it, especially the PF controls. I'm going to try something similar with my monorail - avoids the issues I've been having with control systems and width. How did you mount on to the monorail bases, jumper plates?
  3. Do you mean that you removed the translucent/clear area with a scalpel, and then applied using tweezers?
  4. The UK offers were really poor to be honest with you - I went in to the White City store today, and was underwhelmed. That said, they did have the UCS X-Wing and B-Wing next to each other So, my purchases yesterday/today were (split in to two orders) UCS X-Wing + Hoth Han Umbarian Cannon + X-Wing Planet + Jedi Fighter Planet + Endor Battle Pack + Hoth Han
  5. Great review - my Red 5 has been ordered and is on the way! Might need to MOC the nose cone though...
  6. Is that lower white curved piece on the lighthouse new? I've only seen those a single brick high, not four. This is the known piece: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3063

    Monorail Rules

I got mine for £40 off eBay (6921). I think people simply hadn't noticed it, and I got it on a Buy It Now, whereas the Bricklink price is £60 for a used set, let alone MISB. Funny thing is, the price tag says £3.99! (down from £13.95 behind that sticker). EDIT: Anybody know the best way to get the switches moving smoothly again? My four are all sticking, so when the train hits the little nubbin to shift the rail back in to place the train just stops. That said, they do move freely if I push the rails by hand.

    Monorail Rules

Perfect, I suspected those were the linkage pieces, and thankfully my childhood 80s/90s collection contains a lot of those as it used to be the standard for vehicles back in the day. Still not quite understanding how building wide allows the control mechanisms to work, but I'll give it a bash :)
  9. Loving Town Square - wanting at least one copy, if not two. Hopefully the pricing isn't too high though.

    Monorail Rules

Yeah, that makes sense, but when I see thing like this: I wonder if it's possible to extend all the way down. I did note that the motor is left as-is at base level.

    Monorail Rules

If you build six wide, what considerations need to be made in regards to stations? Lego's design feature little guides sticking up to the side to bring the train in to precise alignment with the platform that presumably only works with four wides? What about the control track sections, which work by hitting a switch on the side of the train?
  12. So, my current bad habit is the old monorail sets. I own the lovely Airport Shuttle and the Futuron monorail, along with a still MISB track expansion pack, and a load acquired from Bricklink (switches, curves, lots of straights). However, I really want to create my own train on top of the chassis from the Futuron monorail, but am at a bit of a loss as to the actual 'rules' of the monorail system. I thought that only four-wide was possible, but this Cuusoo project seems to prove otherwise, with a six wide, yet I can't actually make out the details of how they have dealt with the issue on the baseplates to successfully transit points/stations/stop points. Secondly, is there a standard method of adding extra carriages? The monorail's unique ability to transit over slopes means there needs to be movement in the Z-axis, so which parts allow this? So, essentially, what do I need to know about custom monorail trains?

  14. Great review as always, but I'm left a bit non-plussed by this series. It might be because I'm not in to the whole fantasy thing (ie: trolls, medusa, mermaids etc) nor the Roman era, but even the modern day figures a bit meh. The few that hold interest for me are: - Sea Captain - Librarian - Mechanic - Decorator - Revolutionary Solider - Grandpa
  15. That's amazing - looks totally authentic (as in, it could fly). Looking forward to seeing the modules as well.
  16. Looking forward to any changes on this Anio. Will they be major?
  17. Yeah, I was an AFOL when the CC was around, but stuck to Star Wars. GG was my first modular, which I massively regret!
  18. Thanks! I most certainly know Bricklink well, though I wish it was more functional!
  19. Hi guys, I'm starting my Cafe Corner build, but I need some advice on where to start. Firstly, where can I get the best set of instructions? Peeron? Secondly, is there a list of all the elements needed for the build? Is Peeron the best for this? Thirdly, which are the really hard/expensive pieces to buy, and which do I get from Lego?
  20. I didn't get the old UCS X-Wing, so I'm happy this one is coming. Sure, I'd have been even more excited about a UCS Nebulon B frigate, but oh well.
  21. Sigh, I wish I'd been able to buy Cafe Corner before it got incredibly expensive - it really does help the look of the whole street. I still think Town Hall is too tall though...
  22. Shipped same day as order, that was fast! Free shipping also helped the pain...
  23. UK store had a limit of two only as well, not sure if that applied to retail or not (I wasn't able to take the 2 hour round trip this time).
  24. Those are lovely engines, especially as it is remarkable hard to fit PF in to such a small body. I'd be quite interested to build one if you're willing to share instructions?
