There! Better already, right?
-
I'm sorry, but would you awfully mind leaving this thread to serve its original purpose? Which is - game discussion and sign-ups. Next thing you know, people will start voting random stuff off and be all hilarious about it.

Ohhh there, there. Come on, pass through a door; it'll make you feel better... P.S.: No, 273, books strike a homerun.

I seem to have stirred up some confusion, which was not my intention. Sorry for any misunderstanding. I was still under the impression that survivors + players whose win condition has been fulfilled actually win the game; when Hinckley obviously noted earlier on that we'd moved on from that status quo. My fault for not taking on board what he said. Of course, I fully agree that it's the team effort that counts, and that having team wins as opposed to surviver / conditional wins reflect that. P.S.: And ultimately, I agree 100% with what Rick says. What we're all in it for is to have fun, so that's what matters first and foremost.

Errrm, out of sheer curiosity... Didn't Fangy / Cherry Blossom also actually win, despite not having survived? Seeing as he did take down a Scum player with him and all...?

Well, here goes nothing, I guess... So voila, my response to your queries: 1. I think I should be chosen to play "A Bedtime Story" because I'd like to intensify my understanding of the game and enhance my gameplay experience. I don't really think that depends on the complexity of the particular game, but rather on one's ability to judge personalities and utilize roles, both of which I hope to improve on this occasion, if chosen - least of all since it doesn't look like I'll be playing with too many people I know well. 2. I loved La Fontaine's fables, and most stories whose main characters were the forest critters. I'm well aware that those do not fall under the strict category of fairy tales, but I've always found such stories much more interesting. In that sense, my most favourite story from my childhood was Tony Wolf's "Storie del Bosco". Favourite characters would obviously have to be the Bear and the Otter... P.S.: Playing with Chillax Darth Frodo would be an honour!

I'm really, really confused right now...

Lipko raises a valid point which some of you guys seem to have missed. The interview represents some level of success in terms of job hunting - it means you've passed the first step. In order to get there though, and get to speak with the actual people you'd be working with / for, you first have to pass that scrutiny conducted by none other than the respective company's HR who's most probably recently finished her Bachelor studies in some totally non-related field and has ended up "managing" Human Resources at *insert company name*, instead of polyshing her skills in Linguistics, for example. HRs generally adopt the robotic approach way too soon, and when sifting through CVs, they do have a tendency of ignoring stuff that should actually stand out and be considered as a special indicator as to the respective person's motivation / personal experience / personality, etc. At the end of the day, they want you to write word for word (and then spell it out for them, if possible) that you're a creative, flexible and positive person, a great team player and a stickler for professionalism. But if you use analogies that scream out "I'm creative" such as "I build with LEGO", there's a very limited few HR's who'd actually get what it is what you're trying to tell them. That said though, perhaps the best position for you is someplace where you can actually be appreciated for what you are, and not a company that wants you to fit their mould, so that's worth considering as well. Either way, I personally would never take my LEGO hobby out of my CV. I'm honoured to have been able to contribute in my small way, and also believe it represents a great chunk of who I am as a personality. The same applies for most other hobbies too, for that matter. In my experience, once you go get to the interview part, people very often lead the discussion to your Hobbies in order to get a sense of what it is that motivates you about those things. Besides, I personally firmly believe that "Hobbies" is the part of a person's CV which actually matters a great deal - and luckily, there are lots of managers who do agree with that. The stumbling block, as discussed above though, is the potentially narrow-minded liaison, so really finding a way to work through/with them first is the best solution. I don't believe it should involve getting rid of info regarding your hobbies, LEGO included, or considering them irrelevant though.

I'm a lackey and I'm offended.

If you've got problems with filters, I'd recommend smoking pipes. They're much more enjoyable than ciggies anyway. Wouldn't help with the odour issue though.

What does Lego mean by "Hard to find"?
MetroiD replied to Oretreus's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Ding ding ding ding ding!!! Stopped paying any attention to that stupid sign after noticing this set being labelled as "Hard to find" a couple of years ago. Either way, hard or not, if you want it bad enough, you're always bound to find it anyway. -
Well, you gave the tiger some tigery ideas, so I guess all's well that ends well, right?

Actually, I didn't think you were scum on Day One; it just seemed to me as though you were trying to build a Townies circle, as it turns out you really were, and I really wanted to get you talking as much as possible in the Day thread so that I could try and base my future actions on that. A misguided move for the sole reason of deciding whether I could trust you, seeing how I was placing unneeded attention on you, but at least the Scum decided that they should consider other targets due to that feud. As I said in my first private message, you really did seem Town to me. What made me suspicious was the fact that initially you said you would definitely not be leading Town or pulling the strings, when in fact it looked as though you were. That's the reason for the whole scene at the end of Day 1. If I wanted to push for a vote against you out of sheer conviction, I'd have started that much earlier and would have followed through on Day 2; I just wanted a "reading" of sorts. Apparently, I overplayed the Colorado-bulldog-attitude and it irritated you immensely, for which you know I'm sorry. At that point I did get concerned you might be scum (towards the end of Day 2) and shared my suspicions with Tammo, Masked and the Legonater. The exchange you and I had in private though served a purpose in proving me wrong, even if it did burn all the bridges. Either way, it was an interesting game for me, and having found myself isolated outside the solid circle of trust I opted to relay all (both) my Town contacts to you since by Day 3 I knew they should trust / protect you. My last active attempt at helping Town was the idea of getting the Scum after me based on the fact that Masked told me who'd visited Legonater. Obviously, that plan didn't work since Alopex wasn't Scum. After that, I pretty much followed your lead and tried to be helpful in the Day threads while bouncing ideas off Rick.

Babylon 5 interviews, artwork and other stuff
MetroiD replied to Triple F's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Hi Triple F, and welcome to the forums! Seeing as Babylon 5 was a sci-fi series, this thread actually belongs in the Culture & Multimedia forum, where I'm sure it'll soon end up. But to answer your question - I'm sure there's tons of Babylon 5 fans around here, given the quality of the series. I'm definitely one as well; I think those are some of the best sci-fi characters I've seen on TV. The Crusade spin-off, however, was terrible. -
That the, uh... general idea?...
-
Nope, I wasn't saying it looks big, the size is spot on I guess; I just felt all the trans-red didn't do it justice. I might be wrong though
-
Welcome Johan, and wow, that's some introduction -- looks really brilliant! The one thing I think would make it even more complete would be some side windows to add to its detailed exterior. Great work on getting the proportions right though, I consider that fundamental to any scale build and you've done spot-on there.
-
That's a very original concept and a cool recreation. Even though, naturally, the whole idea is quite cringeworthy, but you've somehow managed to actually make it look kinda cute (perhaps it's the nerdy driver / owner?). I'm especially fond of the too-flat-for-its-own-good front end, I think it's absolutely fabulous, although to be honest I'm not too sure about the rear end - it just looks a tad vain, but then again that might be the way the original model looks as well...
-
I'm surprised to hear that it actually did work... I just wanted to keep you talking for as long as possible, so that we could extract as much information in case there was another scum (mutineer or agent) left. I was always going to vote you off in the end (yes, we weren't working together with def, but he'd already proven his allegiance by that point, so I was obviously going to follow the investigator's lead), and the whole time I was playing along in your charade, I thought I was being so freaking ironically obvious, it would be useless. Still, you did keep feeding us lies and tangling yourself even worse in that mess you kept creating with every new post, so it turns out I was still of some use to Town after all, in some small way. P.S.: The scum writeboard was an interesting read... noticing how I managed to rub people off the wrong way with my sheer desire to play aggressively almost makes me feel ashamed
-
I can really imagine how that must have ruined all the Agents' game. The whole way zakura and volcanic handled this Mafia game was not OK, at least as far as I'm concerned. Not to mention their way of 'explaining' things, especially in private ("the other person who uses this account"... seriously... ). Besides, when apparently sitting side by side in school ( ), they probably shouldn't be surfing EB for a ton of reasons... I'm also bewildered by the fact that Rufus' targets got results from that action, and also by those goon / godfather readings, and a few other things as well in terms of weird game rules. I did, however, stop trying to overthink things at all and just went with the flow after Day 2; telling Flitwick to protect def from that point onward until the end of the game and sharing all the other info I had with Rick and the rest of the confirmed townies. All my talking from that point on was done in the threads, precisely in order to prevent such stuff from happening. Luckily, it worked for Town & me...
-
Any preferences? As to our clash - yes, I was just being me and obviously, I had a vision in my mind of how things could work, which wasn't going to happen anyway. My moves were/are in no way the smartest ones (apparently... ) and I tend to get way too heavy-handed at times. Which is obviously all stuff I need to work on in future Mafia games. I realize I've generally been a pain the megablocks due to my conviction (not that you were scum, but that we could work through things in some different way), and the best way to prove me wrong was to lead Town to victory, which you did. By single-handedly picking out the last Mutineer (among others), no less. So here's to a job well done! Either way, I'd like to think that the tension between us ended up helping Town, after all - least of all by helping draw attention to other players; and besides - Rick was utterly brilliant in his regular role as the Voice of reason, as you put it.
