Not too much into comics in general, but I do adore Asterix & Obelix and Garfield. I've currently tracked down all hardback omnibus editions of Asterix & Obelix, and I'm only looking for that elusive "Asterix For Ever!" book... which I'll surely find soon enough. As to Garfield - suffice it to say there's a widget that lets you integrate the daily Garf cartoon on your Windows 7 desktop. I find that very useful - Garfield just goes _so_ well with morning coffee! I really wish they had the option to do this for Wulffmorgenthaler as well, since that's one of the few places on the 'net which I still find genuinely funny. Well, at least most of the times.

Ooooh, that's a lot of 1x1s in nice colours! You're practically making me come down there...

Very smooth, Maks! *Pun intended* Now, are you planning on adding an invisible soldier there? I know that one doesn't actually take place in Afghanistan, and the tank is different, but... that's the first thing I thought of. Besides, it would be a nice addition to any army, right?

Raised? The bar is as unreachable as it gets - but in all honesty, seeing such beautiful creations shouldn't put one off. For me personally, this is precisely the type of MOC that inspires me to keep plucking away at my attempts to build a half-decent train MOC. It's a beautiful engine, but seriously... valve gear? *jaw drop* And I really like your solution regarding the whole stickers vs. purist build issue. Considering how much the stickers have contributed not simply design-wise, I'd say it's a perfect decision. Besides, it is awesome to hear that pro builders are not sticklers for purism but would instead actually opt for the better solution, even if it's not the more complex one.

He's brilliant! Or is this a she? In any case, I adore it! His wide-eyed "whoa"-style expression makes him even more adorable; not to mention those tiny wings. Best of luck in the contest!!!

I totally agree. And that's not just because you've got an awesome St. Bernard , although he (she?) probably has some part to play as well. I'm not too big on chrome elements either, but when I do end up needing those for MOCs, I'd have no problem ordering the stuff I need off Bricklink or some other LEGO-chroming-place, if I really do need the chrome look that much. That said, you said it best, Oran - big trucks just ain't the same without that bit of bling... to warns oncoming traffic that a wall is moving in the opposite direction from miles away

Aaagh... too... much... cuteness...!!! Such a quaint lil house, I'd so love to actually live there... Very stylish exterior and the interior is quite lovely as well - you've really put a lot of your heart into this, haven't you

Compliments on your feel for things; as Lorentzen aptly noted, you've combined lots of MOCs and original sets, and done so in style. The no-official-streets concept is a thing I'm slowly starting to embrace myself - brilliant setup there.

I love just how alive your MOCs feel. I've been glancing through your flickrstream for the last 10 minutes or so and man, have you got some cool ideas! The amount of experimenting that seems to have gone into this one is breathtaking, and you've really pulled it off amazingly. Great job!

Yakuza Family - Confirmation and Discussion
MetroiD replied to badboytje88's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I seem to be the only one here who doesn't "know" Fred. My miss, obviously But I also really, really like the dragon - great job on that. And on your whole minifig selection as well, they're very good. -
Unfortunately, Yasu seems to be far from being honourable enough for that. Instead, she is apparently more than happy to continue wasting our time, as she's done from the moment we set foot in this Temple. I do hope the morning brings us more wisdom, and one less Mutineer.

Yakuza Family - Confirmation and Discussion

Bye ADHO, hi Kiel! It's nice how you've jumped straight into the game, and done it in style too! Kudos :) Looking forward to playing some other mafia game with ADHO in the future -
I'm sorry I disturbed your peace of mind by asking that you conduct yourself with a bit less aggression and a bit more cooperation. Tabula rasa.
-
Apparently, neither should I. And yes, I have said all that I had to say on this matter. Lloyd Jr., I must commend your tact and coolness, as well as your desire to be reary usefur to our Famiry. Thank you for keeping a cool head, unlike some of us. A lot has been said today and only time will tell what part of it will prove to be useful and what will be forgotten as ramblings of deluded men.

Solid reasoning, Kin; good job, young one. That kind of explanation was what I was looking forward to hearing from Norio in the first place, to be honest, especially considering his vast experience with such dealings. And before he jumps on me again - no, I do not need him to hold my senile old blind and misguided hand, nor would I ever want him to do so considering the amount of disrespect he's shown; but what I do need is proper argumentation. Everybody is looking for some information to grab on to right now, but how you go about it and validate it before the rest of the Family is what counts. Shaky nerves will get us nowhere.

Good idea for what? At that point, Yasu had already single-handedly sealed her fate. Her claim couldn't save her, why should anyone's suggestions as to whether she's loyal or not save her? She is obviously incapable of being useful, even if she does in fact have an important role to play, which is why the entire Family seemed unanimous that this was a calculated risk. After her conduct throughout the Day, for myself I know that nothing Norio could "fish out of her" would change my point of view regarding her sheer incapability to be of use to this Family.

Yakuza Family - Confirmation and Discussion

Tell me about it -
Your "very plausible story" appears to be the rantings of a scared man, Norio. It's always a cowardly move once people start sharing entire private conversations, especially before Day 1 has even ended, but in this case it's very nice considering how much it shows your attitude - which, once again, is the main factor that lead to my suspicion against you in the first place. An innocent loyal Yakuza would have nothing to be so worked up about, and instead would probably really take a step back, avoid disgracing himself further and wait to see what happens before going on with his self-defence and accusations of other Family memebers. Instead, you keep going on as if you were some sort of divine power and the rest of the Family members should avoid bugging or questioning you, for they might in some way disturb the great saving-the-Townies (?) investigation process that you've got going on. Regardless of your role, there is nothing you could "investigate" and "fish out" of Yasu on Day 1 if she's scum, so please forgive me if I don't buy that load of nonsense. But anyway - you investigated, and what did your awesome reasoning come up with? Zip, just as I would have imagined. You are being persistently arrogant when you could just say you're sorry about this whole fracas (as you, no doubt, should be) and reason your way back into people's circle of trust. What you're doing is very much driving you away from that, and your incessant quarelling is also no sign of a loyal Yakuza having the Family's best interests at heart. Once again - forgive me for being suspicious of everyone, but unlike you, Norio, I'd rather not waste my time discussing game probabilities and mechanics and prefer to instead focus on the way Family members react to different situations - and your reactions have been very one-sided. By the way, I'm actually genuinely concerned about your nerves, not just being ironic there.
-
And since when have my dear wife and grandson become my step-son's staff lawyers? I believe I understand fully well what he's been "merely pointing out" for the larger part of this Day, and I'm none too happy about it - or the way he's been putting it across, which, quite frankly, borders on insulting. Mind you, I find posts that consist 6/5ths of mafia game mechanics discussions much more annoying. I guess it depends which side you're standing on. If it's the same ol' same ol' every time around for you, why have a background story and different characters to begin with? Might as well shuffle the players, roles and allegiances a bit and just restart the generic endless pile of blahblah about metagaming, contingent and impossible roles, and probability of lonely trees being heard upon falling in the forest. Since that's where a lot of players seem to be trying to steer this game of wits anyway. My bunch of yens. Oh, and Norio - I do hope the attitude I've generously extended your way has not in any kind or form been offensive to you. Once again though, you are the one who seems to be in overdrive here. As I hinted above, there might a reason for that, or that might just be the way you conduct yourself in such situations. Either way, .

Says the person who can't even be bothered to check the gender of other Family members. Seriously, you need to stop attacking people with such bitterness and exaggarated irony just because they're pointing out the obvious cracks in your reasoning - and then whining when the fire's actually returned. I'd suggest you take a step back, cool your head and then come back, Norio. And I'm not just talking in-Temple.
-
横柄 !!! Mind your tongue, boy. Just a quick observation: First you insinuate that you have some information that will be shared "in due time", on a need to know basis - now you're stepping back. For a secret agent, you seem to be rather clumsy in your moves. They really haven't been too successful at teaching you how to dance, now have they.
-
Hmmm, that is rather funny - why would you want to change our minds after having so eagerly jumped on board all of a sudden, Norio? We have got our day one "lynch" selected together - acting as though you want nothing to do with it now (even though you claim to have been convinced otherwise) is quite a curious way to show us that you're loyal to this Family. And, erm - since when is Yasu male... As to her claimed role part - I did put forward my reasons very early on, and I notice that other Family members seem to agree with me that there's very little to be really cautious of here, and much more would be lost by keeping Yasu among us, regardless of what she is potentially capable of doing. By the way - do I have to remind you that Yasu did contact you and Ichirou way before you actually decided to "take the time" and check up on her reasoning...? She also spilt the berice by openly stating that she's taking someone else's advice on what to do and what not to. If that does not constitute a solid enough reason to be doubtful of your little games ("mind games", anyone?), I don't know what does. Talking down to your elders in the manner in which you are is not condoned in this Family, you know. I guess this just goes to show that some people can easily forget the part they have to play in the big picture. Just remember that this is not one of your gung-ho missions, golf courses in the Scottish fields, or cocktail parties afterwards.
-
This is not helping our common cause, Norio. Or yours, for that matter; especially considering your behaviour throughout the day.
-
I second that notion. While Yasu has spent half the day letting us know that she's been in touch with other Family members and debating how smart these moves of hers have been, she never did share anything with me when I contacted her out of the goodness of my heart. If she couldn't trust the head of this Family, I am very curious who did she decide she could confide in instead, other than the Family members already noted - and what actually led her to that decision. It seems to me that quite a chunk of her behaviour today was orchestrated by people she's been in contact with, especially after our talk in private, so I would also be very eager to hear what my esteemed son-in-law, who claims his inbox head is always full of potatoes anyway, has to share with us on this issue. He is not the only one to have been "trusted" by Yasu though, and considering how brazenly outspoken she has been today, it is curious how little information we have received that could substantiate any of her claims, especially from Family members she stated she had contacted. This is in no way helping us form a circle of trust...

Issues with the chassis at this point is never good news...
