Hey castor-troy, welcome to Eurobricks! Now this is my favourite kind of introduction - straight to the point and, wham, there - an awesome MOC! I've been looking at reference pics for Irish Pubs myself for quite a while now; planning on building one later on - which is why I absolutely love your depiction of it. Very realistic and, obviously, with the general brown colour scheme of the first floor and added greenery here and there, it is just spot on. My only suggestion would be to consider putting up a some sign or shield of sorts next to or above the entrance. Don't get me wrong, "PUB" works fine, especially in combination with the mandatory Irish flag, but from what I've seen in real life, those kind of pubs generally also use lots of signs depicting harps, clovers or misc leprechaun accessories, so I think some of those would work really well there. Then again, there's always the issue of cluttering up the facade too much, and this one looks perfectly fine as it is right now... Oh, and great idea on combining the building's third floor with the Cafe Corner and having a natural progression of sorts. They really do look brilliant; what a sweet complex - so does that mean that the third floor here also provides hotel accommodation? By the way, do you have any pics of the interior? I'd sure love to see those minifigs order their draught beer.

MOC: 1940s Trams in Stureplan (Stockholm, Sweden)
MetroiD replied to Skrytsson's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Picking up from my earlier comments - I was wondering whether you're planning on actually running these afterwards? I'd have loved to have seen a complete street-integrated (i.e. 'hidden' rails within the streets, etc.) tram layout with these beauties running on it... Obviously, as it is now, my guess would be it is meant to remain as a static display scene considering the lack of rails on the diagonal track and the lack of motorisation, but I still feel you could take it one step further! Or at least that's what I'd really love to see. Hopefully, that will also be included in the things you're yet to reveal as part of that exhibition. -
Great characters and a great setup... I'm definitely going to follow this mafia game! Enjoy this one guys; Sandy is a top-notch host!

MOC: 1940s Trams in Stureplan (Stockholm, Sweden)
MetroiD replied to Skrytsson's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Trams! In 6-wide, no less! By the way, I was working on a Duewag tram some time ago (unfortunately, it disappeared in the boxes in its unfinished state :/) and I've noticed a few resemblances in our approach. Either way - trams rule; and this MOC is definitely a very nice recreation of the original. Yes, yes, I would love to come to your exhibition! Can you get me a plane ticket to Stockholm please? -
Well if Faller won't do the trick, I'm guessing you're left with the PF motors. Which do provide you with some pretty decent options! I notice that people have already supplied links to some motorized vehicles in minifig scale, so here's another one: a school bus (the EB thread also contains links/vids to other PF automated mf-scale vehicles) built by one of my fellow LUGgers. I hope that's the kind of inspiration you're after.

Always nice to see a new face! Hello and welcome to the forums... This is a worldwide community though, so please stick to using English. * sees panda-abusing Santa * Oh... Eeerm, please do feel free to continue.

Does it have to be an orthodox LEGO-only solution? If not, I believe there could be some potential for using the Faller Car principles or even the entire system, which railroad modelists usually apply in order to include 'moving' cars in their layouts. Even a 4-wide LEGO car should have enough space to include the mechanics that go inside one of these 1:87 vehicles, as well as a magnet of sorts - and then it's completely up to you to decide how to wire the layer below your baseplates in order to achieve the desired effect, while using Faller's setup. Besides, for the magnet piece you could even go as far as using an actual LEGO element I must say I hadn't considered this possibility before, and now that I've put it out there, it sounds like a thing I'd love to try out and see if I can make it happen! Hopefully, you could give it a go and let me know whether it really works.

Little help with Bricklink's Shop Cart
MetroiD replied to Calabar's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You don't generally need to keep the order open; you can just conclude it and then add new batches to it, as long as you let the seller know that's what you're planning to do, so that they don't pack up your stuff. Besides, as Dstronghold pointed out, plenty of stores require payment within 3-10 days of placing the order which should give you more than enough time. -
Oooh that's nice! Well done Alex, and congratulations on once again rebuilding your town! I must admit though, I'm really gonna miss your inside corner house. Yeah, I know, I've already made my feelings known, but I just think that was a general concept with road and house positioning that worked really well. I admit I'd love to see you revisit it! Perhaps alter that sweet-looking new corner building project of yours a bit and have it as an inside corner house instead?

Fallentomato, I really don't mean to sound rude but... what's the purpose of all this anyway? It just doesn't sound like a very sensible discussion to begin with, and you're not laying the foundations of an actual conversation here; looks to me as though you're merely making an obversation. Which is good and all, but is also a bit pointless. Are you suggesting that LEGO City should focus on girls instead? Or is there perhaps an androgynous approach you believe TLG should follow in terms of their marketing? You say that some contend City is not gender specific and then make your case supporting its for-boys targeting. Well, so be it then, City is aimed at boys. Or at girls. Or at cats and dogs. Leg Godt and have fun while doing it, as lt suggester earlier -- and as long as TLC is making a profit allowing it to keep the City line running, who cares about their gender-specific marketing for 5-year olds anyway.

That's stunning! I love retro trams and I totally this! And I must admit - I'd never even considered building at that scale, but judging by the level of realism, I'd go out on a limb and say it's totally worth it... Speaking of 'worth' though - I do hope you manage to construct this beauty in real bricks soon; are you planning to keep building in this scale though? Might be a bit tough in terms of funds and space! Then again, a couple of models in this scale would probably make one of the coolest AFOL-built displays outside LEGOLAND parks...

Should Lego change the way they sell Track ?
MetroiD replied to The Yellow Brick's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Always encouraging to hear from you guys. I must say, without trying to advertise you or anything, that you're a ray of light in what I think is quite a dark time in terms for LEGO railroad - as far as its efforts to bridge the gap to train modelism is concerned. I find it a bit ironic too - we've arguably had some of the most gorgeous trains in recent years (Emerald Night and Maersk Train), and now train enthusiasts can't really find the right track for those beauties. Good thing you're around; looking forward to those curves, although due to space-related concerns, I'll probably have to stick with the old style LEGO curves... -
Help Congratulate our new Town Moderators
MetroiD replied to Big Cam's topic in Forum Information and Help
Yay! R&R rule town now! Couldn't be happier for both of you guys, you've definitely been some of the most bestest contributors to our Town forums! -
Heard about this earlier today and just couldn't bring myself to sharing the news... I just felt gutted, and I still do. Heather was one of the very first AFOLs I had any kind of contact with, thanks to MOCPages. Naturally, she was also a great source of inspiration as well. Same as the entire LEGO community, I will really miss her, even though I never knew her in person -- but I hope she's in a better place now. My heart goes out to her family...

Oh that's a good one Penguin... and no, I don't mean the student torture thing. I also enjoy antiques myself, although I wouldn't call myself a connoisseur. The things that fascinate me the most are pieces of retro home art (since I'm not too much of a craftsman anyway, unfortunately), as well as old machinеs and radios; I already own one of the latter (family heirloom). I'm also a watch afficionado and I appreciate vintage timepieces, even though at this stage I haven't really felt like including any of those in my personal collection. Other than a Heuer Monaco, that is - if I ever manage to track one down that's in mint condition. Oh, and speaking of afficionados - I'm generally a non-smoker, but I definitely enjoy a good cigar every now and then. Used to be a member of a Cigar Afficionados Club back in Berlin; perhaps I should find a local equivalent one of these days... I also love reading, although having gone through way too much specialized literature lately hasn't helped my desire to do that. Which is why I'm currently attending a photo-reading training course. Can't wait to see if it'll work! Other than that, I enjoy experimenting with shaving equipment - you'd be amazed by the endless possibilities that traditional wet shaving has to offer. Just bought a different/new shaving soap last week and that has once again turned the morning shave into a part of day I genuinely look forward to! I also enjoy sports, naturally, even though I haven't been too active lately. Swimming and diving in the summertime and ice skating / hockey during the winter. General fitness (no serious bodybuidling stuff though) all year around, as long as I can find the time. Oh, and I love motorcycles. Currently looking at finally buying one, after years of putting that off and spending so much money on other stuff instead (LEGO included)... Last but not least - it's somewhat close to the LEGO hobby, but I also enjoy collecting stuff and then displaying it in our annual Christmas Village. My girlfriend and I have been doing that for four years now, and I must say I hadn't envisioned that it would end up including such a wide variety of die-cast cars, porcelain houses, scale model trains and all sorts of handicraft. That said, the wider this hobby gets, the more interesting / fulfilling it feels once our town lights up a few days / weeks before Christmas.

Cozy-looking airport; very sweet, Skystorm! My suggestion? Turn that into an airforce base, replace the airplanes with a couple of Eurofighter jets and you won't need to waste any space on runways And I agree - this MOC does bring back memories of old Legoland Airport sets.

Can I just say that this is absolutely odorifically fantastic. I took so long to comment because I just didn't know what to say, and honestly - I still really don't. You are an absolute inspiration, thank you for that!

Urge accepted. And yeah, we can go for hours discussing who means what, but there's no point (or fun) in it, now is there.

Except you did not wish upon him that he died in a fire, "" There's cheeky pranks, and then there's just distastefulness. And killjoy attitude. Great job on demonstrating how the last two can work together. And trying to actually play offended, no less. Still enjoying your lying scummy ways, I see?

I'm sorry; of course, what was I thinking. Let's all get and cover ourselves with tarps.

Oh come on. Don't panic Or if that doesn't work, just remember - "I ache, therefore I am."
