what i meant was the rear of each side as in the sloped cheese slice or brick i've gone with the cheese wedges
Jammiedoger:
the studio scale model has sloped pieces in these spots but lego don't make them in light bluish grey yet but when they do i will swap them, but to be honest it needs some contrast in it otherwise it would be just a 6000 piece grey block.
K_peek:
i have nearly finished the rear roof and the vents on the front middle, infact hold on i'll take a few pictures.
ok a few pictures for you to look at and correct me where i have made mistakes.
ok first off the revised sides although still not happy with them.
right side
Left side
the rear end so far
The roof
and a few pics of the belly not finished yet but dont want too much more weight!
comments welcome!
having had the AT-AT stood up for a few days i decided i din't loke the rear sides so have rebuilt them again for the 4th time, i am almost happy with them so will post pictures later for your comments.
my defender uses your desing for the pylons with a few added parts to stabilize it all namely hinge plates and thin tech lift arms, with half tech pins.
yes i can confirm that it does support the weight of the head but alas it cannot tilt up and down, allthough a few of those pneumatic spring pistons would make the head weight neutral if i was to add that feature...........(starts to ponder the idea.... )it would be easy to mod the head joint to pivot up/down
The frame was built at the start i am just changing a few things and adding strength and also details of the drive motors, underneath etc
Well my neck idea won't work as intended due to the head being so heavy! so i have changed it slightly and hopefully this will work will post pictures later.
just when you think you are getting somewhere you notice inacurate details!!
done so far
legs x 4
feet x 4
ankles x 4
head x 1
main frame/hips x1
front drive motor x 1
left side x 1
right side x 1
started on the top and redesigned the front top although not built fully yet.
the rear sides have been enlrged by 1 stud vertically and 2 studs in length to make it nearly spot on with the movie model where as rockos is not completely accurate. it's created a huge problem for me when building the rear top slope but i will tackle that when i get round to it.
my design for the neck works so i have that to finish it only gives me a few degrees left and right but better than non??
yep 12lbs per ankle, the legs only have 2 poseable positions, the knees do not bend and studying rockos i don't see how his can bend either, his does have the hinges in the knees but the curved slopes on the sides will prevent them from bending.
how do you keep them clean while on display? they get covered in dust every other day and if i don't dust them it sticks and then needs to be washed off!
just a few dodgy pics fro now to show progress.
so as you can see it's big!
it also seems to be holding the weight very well and is surprisingly stable for its size, as for peice count i'd say it's getting close to UCS MF numbers!
