  1. X-O Yep, that's certainly pretty impressive.....
  2. There already is one - Imperial Inspection. And you get four stormtroopers with it. And two Red Guard. And two Imperial Officers. Plus Darths Vader and Sidious. Its an excellent set
  3. I'll meet you in the park. I'll post here as I leave home. I'll be three hours ish getting there
  4. Mine arrived this morning (bricklink purchase where seller is US). I quite like it. I know its not much, but its right for the price. The steering the Dragster is tad uncontrolled, though isn't it. I wouldn't fancy driving that. Missile firing "mechanism": there's a warning about firing into eyes in the instruction book. Some hope! It would have been good to have studs in the seat to hold Batman down. Can anyone just clarrify for me: Bruce Wayne's grey "hair" becomes Batman's "glowing" eyes? Is that the idea? And Catwoman having a reversable head is presumably just for fun - more options in look?
  5. That's a cool review. Smart "action" pics too. :-D
  6. I have no intention of selling my sets so I've not kept any boxes. Again storage is an issue. I have kept the box from the AT-TE (top folds open) as I keep all the instructions in it. Also, the lttle plastic boxes that SW mini sets come it make for handy spares storage. I used to have all my sets on display but now find they take up way too much space so most are in collapsable boxes, grouped by SW episode. Only the really big sets like Cloud City are still out.
  7. Actually, you can get non-roasted and non-LULS Anakin with 7113, 7131, 7133, 7141 and 7171
  8. Interesting. Blends in with my posts on the Hospital thread. I think we could take this too seriously. Yeah, there's a question of sexism in not having female firefighters, police officers (note the gender neutrality in modern titles) and train drivers. But LEGO is a simple product, mainly intended for children. As I said in the hospital thread, I think for children you have to conform to a degree of stereotyping for children's sake. Bear in mind this is coming from a Nurse who happens to be a bloke. BTW, my other half is a land and building surveyor (a lady in a traditionally male-dominated profession). We're gonna have confused kids! My issue with the hospital was that you expect a Nurse in a hospital. Children would. And I want to see my professional represented. A Peeron search suggests there's never been a LEGO Nurse. What will be interesting is to see if LEGO alter with gender-roles in society. Did you know that 55% of new medical practioners ("Doctors") are female and the number of men Nursing is also rising exponentially (20% of new student Nurses are blokes). I have to say, these are 2002 figures, from when I graduated. They'd been on the increase for years and statistical extrapolation suggests that in there will be more men nursing than women in about 20 years (and won't the NHS be better off for it!). I have no idea how many police officers are ladies at the moment, but that seems to be increasing. The numbers of ladies in the building trade (like surveyors) is also increasing. When you can't (yet) do headwear over hair, occupations and genders will, I think, have to be more simply set by LEGO design. Maybe this is a new task for LEGO designers for future years: hair with studs. Yeah, we could probably do with more FFs (not MFs). Certainly Star Wars could do with more Leia's, Padme's and a Mon Mothma and Aayla Secura. And Batman could do with Batgirl (though its already got Catwoman and Poison Ivy - that's pretty good going). More ladies in towns etc. But as I say, lets not take it too seriously. And we already have ethnic MFs - Mace Windu!
  9. Am I imagining things, or does there seem to be a recurring theme throughout this thread? *wacko*
  10. The seller just e-mailed so ask if I wanted it all disassembled since he built it once!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hang on, he's described it as "virtually brand new", with just the box opened! I've demanded a refund. Yeah, I've wanted the set for ages, for
  11. When I seriously got into SW LEGO, I deliberately went looking for any specific sites and found FBTB. I joined and posted there for months and was happy for the first few. Then it just started getting so aggressive and intollerant. I openly voiced that we must have been putting off new members. Their mantra became "USE THE SEARCH BUTTON". So, I'd heard of EB and had a look. This coincided with a run-in with cello-colin with various threats of being banned. So, here I am
  12. It seemed the right place when I started the topic - theatre being star wars and all. Realise mistake now. Sorry. Besides, it'll get me to look around EB more!
  13. I've been after a Republic Gunship for AGES for would not pay best part of
  14. Just looking through some of the other threads. First time I've ventured out of "theatre". Saw the vignette done by jof's 7 year old daughter. Stretcher-bearer, patient, Doctor (with stethoscope) and it looks a NURSE. Case in point. Done by 7 year old!!! I vaguely recall some years ago, playing with my LEGO (before my second childhood told hold), I had a LEGO ambulance and expanded on it and made a Nurse (female of course) using a knight's cape at the front to look like an apron. Don't think I made a cap. I suppose I couldn't have as it couldn't have gone over hair. Unless I had a BALD female Nurse! That would be stupid, now, wouldn't it?
  15. Just to clarify, I'm actually a Nurse. I'm a bloke (though call me a "male nurse" and I'll tear your throat out! *sweet* ). Hence my noticing this. Yeah, I can understand LEGO keeping costs down, not seeing the actual need etc. But surely even kids are going to notice something like that. Lots of kids spend time in hospital or visit folks in hospital. They will always see a Nurse. Its a glaring ommission. I'm just amazed no-one's raised it before. Despite my gender, the reason I referred to female LEGO characters is that that's what children will expect. At a young age, keeping to stereotypes just makes life easier and simpler on the child. And as I say, LEGO seem to have a habit missing female minfigs. How about female policeman or firefighter? Normal in the real world, not in LEGO world! And I wear a white pinny, but no head scarf! X-D
  16. I got the Spring S@H catalogue today. Something I noticed about the Hospital set - two doctors, one surgeon (who really needs a theatre suit, BTW) and a patient. No Nurse! How can you have a hospital without a Nurse? Its said in relation to SW (and maybe more generally but I only follow SW) that female characters are majorly under-represented in LEGO. So, upgrade set needed - Hospital ward, with a LEGO Nurse!
  17. To call it the "worst" set seems really negative. Like all the sets were cr@p and this was the worst. I thought all this year's sets were exellent, with this perhaps the least excellent. I think we mean the same, I'm more positive! OK, maybe too expensive given that there's nothing particualrly "new" about it. Its another TIE afterall. But one that was much sought after. Yeah, a mechanic or something would havae made it more worthwhile
  18. The LEGO model has steerable front and rear pairs of wheels. Its turning circles are pretty wide. Looking at my Incredible Cross Sections book, it makes no mention of steering or mid-body pivot-points. BUT it does say that each wheel has three independently-geared sections. It seems logical and entirely plausible that it could use "tank" steering. IE to turn left, the left wheels will turn backwards and the right wheels forwards. The greater the speed on each flank of wheels, the smaller the turning circle. With three-sectioned wheels, control of turning would be amazing.
  19. Sorry I thought (still do think) that Theatre was the best place - its a pic of the LEGO Millennium Falcon!
  20. There's been various ideas as to future Lego licences, like Batman (oh, hang on, they're doing that ;-) ), Star Trek, Halo, etc. How about Red Dwarf. I know it doesn't have the vast appeal of SW or Batman, but it does have a very dedicated following. Who wouldn't want a giant red USC Red Dwarf or a system scale Starbug with Lister and Cat minifigs. The playsets or scenes they could produce: skutters, roving Holly, Blue Midget, Legion's dining area, the Nova 5, the Mutton Vindaloo Monster, the Enlightenment, Cassandra, Pete scene (with existing LEGO dinosaurs). Brilliant
  21. Something you didn't see in Star Wars:
  22. Can you tell us why batmans head is so big yet? (sorry if I missed it earlier) If you were the dark knight, protecting Gotham, saving countless lives, an idolised millionnaire, engineer and Martial Arts expert, I reckon you'd be a bit big-headed too!
  23. I think the great thing with LEGO is there is no invalid technique, just more, shall we say, exotic ones. Certainly, professional LEGO builders are increasingly finding new technques. Although I don't have it, review of the DS2 are interesting for their description of building, like with plates being connected using the secondard holes.
  24. what a brilliant idea!! Yeah!! we must do that!! Surely they'll listen to reason!!  they must!! it's only logical.... .... right? That's sarcasm, right? Cos I'm serious. Yeah, I see the flaws, like anyone saying they're from Eurobricks to get in cheap and yeah, they're a big company. I know it won't happen, but I've really honestly genuinely serious in this
  25. I was thinking. I really think LEGO should let us in free or at least discounted. I mean the fact that we're posting on a LEGO forum means we are LEGO fans and do spend out money on their products. We are actively involved in the promotion of their products. OK, there may be some things we don't like and are vocal about it (LULS anyone), but generally we all take great pleasure in LEGO and helps its sales by presenting a positive image of the money and its product. We recommend sets to each other. I bet a fair proportion of us that go will buy a set (I will just because I'm there). We'll probably all spend our money in the park, like on food and stuff. Quite honestly, I think some sort of discount by way of thanks and akknowledging loyalty is the least LEGO can do.
