  1. I've made many, many purchases off Bricklink, and only once have I been disappointed (one seller never sent me the goods, but after a few complaints he was barred from selling). But every other time it has been a very good experience... the pieces arrive quickly, safely, and are usually individually packed in tiny little ziploc bags. As for paying, I always do it through Paypal, which is reasonably safe. Anyhow, I'm not trying to convince you to go via Bricklink.... some other folks have issues with it, which I understand. But I have to say that when it comes to ordering individual pieces, figures, and sometimes even sets, Bricklink is really a godsend. Usually you can get a much better deal than on eBay. I've used Bricklink a few times, but only for little things, never whole sets. Always had a positive experience
  2. There are pirates in the SW EU!
  3. You're right, SW is more fantasy than SF. BUT the lightsabers do not equate to Katana / Wakizashi. The Jedi bear little resemblance to the Samurai aside from SOME of their cultural aspects which Master Lucas did replicate. I hadn't agreed with this until recently. Your sentiment also seems to be pretty common here. As a kid (I'm now nearly 27) I loved Space. My very first Lego set that I actually remember being given was a grey lunar rover with trailer that launched a missile/satalite thing. Had two astronauts - one red and one white. This being back in the days pre-visors. Ah, memories. Now I make attempt to hide the fact that I love SW and very carefully broke the news this evening that I was going to be collecting LEGO until at least 2011 now (maybe I should have left it until valentine's day?). BUT I do concede that you're limited to know SW characters/vechiles/places. There's little room for imagination and diversity. I not committing myself either side of the argument but I do see the POV of the non-believers (non-SW-fans).
  4. I can so imagine Joker pulling of some prank involving bare-chested mermaids ^^^ Greetings, Cutty p.s.: watch your spelllllink. It's "aerial"... Unless Joker is attacking Ariel from Little Mermaid.... Is that why Batman needs a Batboat? Where does the Penguin fit in?
  5. OK, how do we "sign up"? Just say here that we want to go? In that case, I'd like to sign up. And Mrs Tau
  6. It doesn't look the best set. I forget the price. It seems this could be the "V-wing" of the Batman sets - cheap and cheerful. The v-wing hadly compares the ARC-170 but it generally acknowledged as being a nice little kit for its price. Same here, I think. Hardly compares the Batmobile/Twoface set but assuming its signifcantly cheaper, could be a really nice little set. Certainly interactive with having two vechicles and two minifigs
  7. Hi, I'm fairly new to Eurobricks but would love to come and meet everyone and be a part of the event. I live about 3 hours away by road. I couldn't do sunday as I teach Jujitsu and Kickboxing and I'm not keen on spending money on accomodation but I'd love to be a part of either the Friday or Saturday meets. I'll follow this thread and see what happens / what plans are made etc. Hopefully I'll be a Eurobricks Citizen by April anyway.
  8. The latest idea from the LEGO group, riding on the huge success of LULS... LUBS - Light-Up BatSignal!
  9. Off topic a second, but I hope this'll amuse. Cutty referred to a Cathedral Final Showdown (some nice ideas, BTW). Well one of the Joker's goons was played by Mac MacDonald who I've had the pleasure of meeting and have had a photo taken with. Very nice chap. Not very complimentary about Jack Nicholson, though.
  10. All contained somewhere in this very thread (I think)
  11. We have "ideas for new Star Wars sets" so how about the same for Batman. Some ideas have already been put out. I know its a bit presumptuous with the first sets not even out yet, but hey TLG might just read this! My first idea, off the back of the Batcave is Wayne Manor. Could have various rooms but I suggest a dining room, lounge and garage (as seen in the films) and a dojo for Bruce. Would come with Bruce, Alfred and Dick. Have it on stilts so as it could fit over the top of the Batcave for added playability
  12. "...many of the little details..." So there are other little details that impressed you? Do share
  13. Studs Not On Top. Untraditional but clever building technique. Look how smoothe the boat looks
  14. Aha! Below the Batsuit chamber is a cage next to the Batboat/ski thing. Behind the cage is like a tunnel-shape. This is an entrance to Gotham's sewers!
  15. Something else I just noticed in the picture. By the "many functions included in this set" picture, there appears to be a technic axle jutting out of the base. I've tried to trace where this goes. It seems to run under the mesh base pieces but I can't see what it could do
  16. Things I've spotted so far: - Projectile launcher and batsignal or a turret - does the batsignal light up? - there looks to a cog in the turret. What does this do? handle somewhere for vertical movement? - turret is atop a tower from the lower level. A Goon is climbing the ladder to it. - tower is connected to another walkway - On top of adjoining walkway (which has stairs leading to lower level) is - Bats - another animal in green - A Gotham map - "Wanted posters" - BRUCE WAYNE - Other bits of gadgetry of not-obvious purpose - This walkway joins what lokos like a suiting-up chamber to turn Bruce in Batman. Looks a bit Cloud City ish (I'm thinking carbonirte chamber). Maybe different. - Below this chamber is a cage next to a Batboat. Maybe this is deliberate. Lower Batman to the Batboat. - Ground level - ALFRED frozen in ice by MR FREEZE. Ice blook looks like the lava block that came with Ultimate lightsaber duel. I guess you could put any figure in there. - Mr Freeze looks well, well "cool". No humour intended, but its inevitable, really isn't it? - Launch ramp for batboat - Lots of other gadgetry and greebling -Robin on a jet ski - looks like Robin has Princess Leia's "bun" hair! - Penguin on a jet ski - The BATBOAT - GATTLING Guns made of those double-barrelled blasters the droidekas and Clone Turbo Tank use - Skis - Flaming turbine engine thing
  17. Yeah, entirely grey would maybe have been more realistic but in that case ALL the TIE models shoudl have been done like that. Having the interceptor blue and black means it works well in a LEGO fleet with other TIEs like the TIE Fighter, TIE Bomber, TIE Advanced and TIE/d. That's how my fleet looks when its one display anyway. The rear is covered by Darth Maul in his Sith Infiltrator. Didn't you know Darth Maul was Darth Vader's apprentice? >-|
  18. AIVR, Batman and Robin was number 7 in Johnathon Ross' Film 2005 or 2004 (maybe even Film 2003 actually) program in the top ten worst films ever. It certainly detracted from the Dark Knight that Michael Keaton and Val Kilmer established. BUT there were some kewl vehicles and sets that could be LEGOified. Like the end, each of Batman, Robin and Batgirl ride their own snow-sled thingie into battle. Fleeting glimpses but still... Oh and Batgirl? Another potential set there. I agree with the point about additional minifigs in regular attire e.g. Jack Napier, Viktor Fries, Barbara Wilson, Dr Pamela Isley Oh yeah, Dick and Barbara in their motorbikes - kewl scenes. Let's have a set made
  19. Nor me. Nor how unrealistic it is. At least, in comparison to versions 2 and 3. I thought Jango's was pretty amazing, but you have to hand it to LEGO for the job they did on the latest. Apart from not having enough weapons to go round the figures
  20. "pinguins" :D
  21. Completely agree about more villains, but... Seeing as how we've established that the first set is from the Tim Burton / Michael Keaton era, we should look at movie villains first. Let's see Batman - Joker (check) Batman Returns - Penguin (check) and Catwoman (check) Batman Forever - The Riddler (no sign but I agree, would be really good) and Two Face (check) Batman and Robin - Mr Freeze (check), Poison Ivy (no sign) and Bane (no sign) If you want to consider Batman Begins (which I don't) then Rha's Al Ghul (or however you spell it) and The Scarecrow The 70s Adam West movie had Joker, Penguin and Catwoman who are all already covered and The Riddler. So, yeah, we need a "riddle"
  22. What else is there to be seen? - Missile Launcher in BLUE - New wheels? - Flaming thruster at the back - Flipper thing for Two-Face - Lots of scenery, looking like its only purpose is to be demolished. Isn't LEGO fantastic? Oh, and the Batmobile (unless I'm wrong) is from the Michael Keaton Batman and Batman Returns. My favourite. Brilliant. I wonder what else might be hidden within the Batmobile? Other special features? I also wonder if we'll get a non-Batman'ed Bruce Wayne
  23. Alfred
  24. I don't understand, sorry. I am what?
