OK, enough of the episode 2 sets 4502: X-Wing Fighter Specifically, the X-Wing Fighter on Dagobah, not to be confused with any other X-Wing set. From Episode: Five Year of release: 2003*** RRP: $50.00*** Pieces: 563*** This set seems to get slammed a lot, though quite why is beyond me. I know some people hate the mechanism on the wings, but hey, TLC's designers are being adventurous. Its like 1000% better than the stutter-hinge mechanism on the first X-Wing. I personally love this extra feature. Features not only an X-Wing (radically updated from the previous Ep 4 incarnation), but also Yoda and his swamp hut. This is an excellent set with high playability and a high Swoosh factor First, lets look at minifigs: Luke Skywalker Not in flight suit, but in swamp gear. Has helmet for piloting and hairpiece for Jedi training. Has green-bladed Lightsaber but note that it should actually be blue. Also has backpack on which to carry Yoda. If you really want a flight-suit Luke, you can get one on several other sets, now both traditional yellow and new flesh tone. Yoda Same figure as with the Jedi Duel and Wookiee Catamaran sets. Has both gimer stick and Lightsaber. In fact he shouldn't have a Lightsaber as his was destroyed in E3. He is never seen with one post E3. What is done with this (which I'll mention after) is good, though and promotes a certain element of artistic licence. R2-D2 Same in seen in loads of other sets. Plugs properly into the X-Wing, which he didn't (properly) in the previous X-Wing Now the main features: The X-Wing OK, now this is an impressive LEGO SW Starfighter. This is how its done! Looks accurate (and brilliant), swooshes well and hold several smart features. Building starts with the rear section and wing-mechanism. In this, a worm-gear joins a cog so that turning a cog at the rear locks the S-foils in attack position. This was copied in the ARC-170 design and improved on by adding a bomb-release mechanism. But here was where we saw it first. The motion is a tad slow for my liking, but smooth and faultless. Next the wings. Nice. Have giant engines and cannons. Improved since predecessor's wings, but still similar. Upper wings identify Luke as Red Five. Adding the wings to the rear, with a couple of extra greebles (like a flap that hides the s-foil mechanism (not strictly necessary, but nice as it can be used to make it look like Luke is working on the engine)) completes the rear. To this, the belly storage compartment is added. This is where Luke's Lightsaber is stored (and where I keep his hair for when he's in flight). His backpack doesn't fit in there particularly well, which is a shame. I keep it in Yoda's hut instead. Next comes the entire nose, cockpit and Astromech slot. The nose on this newer one doesn't have a storage area, but then, there's no need with the big one on the underside. The nose now tapers toward the front, which it doesn't on the previous. Hinges fixed in place give it a really smart shape. Its not 100% accurate as the front part juts out, but its close. The cockpit contains a joystick. The Astromech slot surrounds R2 up to his shoulders. This section is completed by folding landing gear (the rest is part of part of the rear section and solid. The two sections join to complete the build. Optionally, foliage from the Dagobah swamp can be added. I leave them on there, though in flight its more impressive without. Yoda's Hut The X-Wing could have been a set on its own (and subsequently was) but this seriously makes it a worthwhile buy and really rounds out the whole thing. I can imagine some people getting this set just for the hut. Closed, the hut is round earth and foliage shell with one door and four windows. Looks good. But it opens up at each side by two bilateral sets of hinges and also the roof lifts. Inside is so much detail. Looking from the rear, from left to right, you get Yoda's death bed, inside which is his Lightsaber (the bed top is joined to the base by just one stud for easy lift); a storage barrel; a beverage area and a stove with pan. High level of play. One of the best SW sets LEGO have done in this size. Fantastic. Final scores (taking price into account) Variation of parts 6/10 Repetitiveness diminishes this. Parts for Price: 8/10 Minifigs: 7/10 One unique figure. Different modes of play Playabilty factor* 8/10 High Build 8/10 Repetitive at times, but enjoyable. Overall 7.4/10**

Later models of the "real" B-Wing did indeed have two seats. Neither LEGO versions (both of which are set at the time of the battle of Endor) do. The more recent set does come with two pilots, a human and a Sullustan (Ten Numb) to give you choice of which to use. So does does the latest X-Wing (Luke and Wedge)

What do I think? I think many of us were disappointed with the size of the Hoth base, so imagine if that were modular like the Cafe Corner. Or a Death Star. Or an Invisible Hand. For a Star Wars hijack of a town thread, but that IS what I think. I suppose a less-biassed perspective would be: imagine if LEGO took the idea beyond the Town line, into other lines.

So, what dates is Bilund 2008?

7163: Republic Gunship First and foremost, I had a quite negative eBay experience with this. I'll try not to let that cloud my judgement From Episode: Two Year of release: 2003*** RRP: $90.00*** (note currently on eBay for over

4482: AT-TE From Episode: Two Year of release: 2003*** RRP: $70.00*** Pieces: 646*** Rothana Heavy Engineering All-Terrain Tactical Enforcer. Until the Millennium Falcon arrived, this was the best Lego Star Wars model I owned. Its big. Very big. Took about five hours to build, because I was slow back then. Very impressive. Consists of main vehicle, troopers, lots of ways in which the troopers can be active and a speeder bike at the rear. Displays the Bendu symbol which has been adopted by the Republic army. First, let's look at the minifigs. Four new Clone Troopers, straight from Kamino. This and the Republic Gunship are the only sets to have this generation of Clones. For the price, I'd really hope to have more minifigs, especially when you look at sets like Imperial Inspection and the Imperial Star Destroyer (system scale). At least some variation in minifigs. Just one more. Just a Jedi. Any Jedi. Even "Jedi Jimmy" or some such. A "Jedi Jenny" would have been good for variation. There is a blaster for each Clone and also tools for their use. The AT-TE is a six-legged forerunner of the AT-AT. Lower but longer. Note that both Lego models (AT-TE and AT-AT) have troops and a speeder bike. There are essentially four sections to it: cockpit; troop area; speeder bike area and roof. Tools: Turbo-binoculars and a circular saw mounted in the speeder bike area can be held by the troops. Trooper seating: Large panel on which site the four troops. Their blasters are also mounted here. This panel lifts out through the roof for easy placement of troops. Also, I guess, represents the loading sequence of many of these vehicles being made ready for battle. Cockpit: Door hinges forwards. Seats one trooper who sits on piloting seat which then slots into place. One criticism of the model here is that you have to be careful how you sit the figure. If his helmet catches the roof, he can be knocked off and will generally fall underneath the seating section and is then quite difficult to retrieve. Rear door: Hides Speeder bike. Hinges upwards. Has two LASER cannons. These are unfortunately easily snapped off. With the door opened, the cannons can be made to face forward for further armament where no risk of attack from rear is likely. There are a further four of these cannons about the vehicle which are hemisphere-mounted for wide range of motion. Roof: Covers all of internal section. Easily removed or just raised. Troopers can use the roof as a staging area, thereby increasing playability factor. Projectile Cannon Turret: Swivels a full 360 degrees. Can knock off forward facing cannons when they are raised vertically. Quite a fun build. Seats one Clone Trooper. Legs: Four corner legs are identical. Different to side legs. All have three dimensions of movement. Side legs are shorter but stubbier and with bigger feet. Its the legs that make this vehicle so impressive. With these legs, the AT-TE can be made to "walk", but constant movement of six legs means I suspect most people will do as I've done and leave it in one position, which is that seen in most pictures. Armour: All-surrounding. Hinges well so almost entire of vehicle is covered but also so as opens to see inside. Comprised of four main panels. Two smaller panels mount cannons. Between them they make the shape of the vehicle. Give it a rounder appearance. The AT-TE also holds an Aratech 74-Z Military Speeder Bike. Identical to that used in Ewok Attack with just the minor change of control position. On this bike, the handle bars are one stud further back so trooper is more upright, not leaning as in the Endor kit. Nice. Has supply kit on back. Seats one trooper. Uses that trooper's blaster as weapon and can also take a second blaster. Fits in rear of the AT-TE. This set remains one of my personal favourites, though I concede that there are far better sets out there for similar money. Final scores (taking price into account) Variation of parts 8/10 Parts for Price: 7/10 Minifigs: 6/10 Although they're uncommon, lots of marks dropped for lack of variation and there being too few Playabilty factor* 8/10 Very playable. Different modes of play. One montage I set up was the AT-TE with Obi-Wan on the cannon, approaching Jabba's Palace to rescue Luke! Build 7/10 Very enjoyable, but repetitive at times Overall 7.2/10** * Includes Swooshability factor, where appropriate ** Previous scores added together to reach score out of total of fifty, then divided by five to make an easy score out of ten. *** Information taken from Peeron

Oh well, we're all entitled to our oppinion. I stand by mine, yet respect yours. Why don't you do your own review? Personally, I love my AT-TE, but wasn't impressed with the RGS, but maybe that's because of a negative eBay experience. I think Ep2 gave us some great sets. Bounty Hunter Pursuit? Jedi Duel?

New Earth-Like Planet Discovered in the Habitable Zone

It could be worse. I mean "Pluto"? Fancy naming a former-planet-now-large-rock-object-thing after a Disney character's dog? -

IIRC when Coruscant was home to the Empire, it was called "Imperial Center". It only became "Cosuscant" again after the death of the Emporer. -
Musical and Movie-ical (?) Minifigs

MiB - Great! Nice work Terminator - Again, nice work. Where did the weapons come from? Ozzy - nice touch having the bat -
I have them both. I was hoping to get awy from Ep 2, though. Still, if that's what's wanted. AT-TE is next, then.

So, what would we like reviewed next?

7153: Jango Fett's Slave I First and foremost, I have never seen, much less owned the first LEGO Slave 1 (Boba's). This set is written pre-release of the newer Boba version. Secondly, apologies for tardiness

It's actually the introduction to a novel. The first line should actually "Time is a character in this novel". Inthe novel, time is a constant background, hidden, character. I thoughly recommend the Omnibus of Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers and Better Than Life - they're brilliant and incredibly funny.

I can't see the difference! :'-(

I think the antenna should be there. There's certainly one on the Titan (next project? ;-) ) Yes, the Wolverine is an exo-suit i don't think it would be possible to make a LEGO one since minifig's legs would have to fit in the suit's legs. All in all, GOOD JOB *y*

The event is what, next week, week after? To be honest I stopped paying attention after it became clear I couldn't afford to come. Affer my one day last year, I really did want to make the whole weekend this time. Oh well. Enjoy yourselves. Send a postcard. Where's next years'?

Way more important question: is there potential for a LEGO theme in the Indy series?

Given that the writers don't seem to know completely what's gonna happen, I can't see that any inside source of yours will, case
