Heroica RPG - Quest #48: Death's Homecoming
Dannylonglegs replied to Endgame's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Sir Hal Borhd," began Sylph as he dusted himself off. "Thank you for saving me. These... creatures... are different than any others I've previously encountered." He turned and addressed his party. "while I could do with another tonic, our evoker Elgar does not have a single one, so I'll give it to him. Since Elgar seems pretty set with his tonics, I'll take that tonic if no one minds. I'll give the potion to Lycan, because he has the lowest health here. Everyone can receive 25 gp. And as for the fire bombs... 1 to Galen, 1 to Johon, 1 to Elgar, and 2 to Lycan." He turned back to face the soldier. "Now that we've settled that, let's go see this Mayor." -

Isabella attacks Artillery Progg A, front row. -
I am also scared about the boss battle, and I too hope to get my hands on some stuff that may help us defeat it. Pretty much all the ways. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

I concur with your sentiment.... ~Insectoid Aristocrat

I'm really loving this team! Everyone is special and I have to account for everyone's weaknesses, strength and special powers when devising a strategy! I'm not great at that yet, but thinking these battles out is really fun! I love the elvish invisibility cloak and Johon's sword of decay in particular. I noticed it's power in the last quest, and I'm still super impressed with its efficiency! ~Insectoid Aristocrat

You're targeting the guardian because he's blind and can't hurt you. I don't want you KO'd. My heal's at the bottom in case I get a 6. I want to heal as many and as much as possible. -

Sylph Heals Johon from the back row. "Johon, target the guardian." Order: Isabella, Lycan, Johon, Galen, Elgar, Sylph -
In addition to not counting as a target, does blind scroll only last 2 rounds now? ~Insectoid Aristocrat

"Ok, that wasn't fantastic, but no time to lose, let's push before they gain an advantage." States Sylph through gritted teeth as he heals Elgar (OoC: if the potion returns him to 1 health, or Sylph casts blind on the guardian if Elgar has full health. I always forget how that functions. And to buy more.) Order: Isabella, Lycan, Johon, Galen, Elgar, Sylph -

"Good job team, let's keep it up, and do it again!" grunted Sylph as he repeated his actions. Order: Isabella, Johon, Lycan, Sylph, Elgar, Galen -
Oh, cool, I must have missed the memo . ~Insectoid Aristocrat

I'm not complaining. I'm super glad that torch is gone! And the Guardian's blind! Time for dinner! Who wants lobster? I won't need to heal myself for another two rounds or so! I guess targeting a thing with a scroll doesn't stop free-attacks? ~Insectoid Aristocrat

"Ha ha ha!" grunted Sylph triumphantly, as he pulled back the string of his bow, ready to fire at the guardian from behind. "Johon, let's carve this crustacean up. Isabella, keep on that first Artillery Progg." Order: Isabella, Johon, Lycan, Sylph, Elgar, Galen -

"Hmm, I didn't realize we were invoking a free attack from the guardian." muttered Sylph as he cracked his neck, returning his focus to the scroll. He cried out in the arcane language, summoning all his strength and concentration. Finishing, he cried "Blind this bastard!" (The Guardian) "Galen, take Progg B, Johon, help me with the bruiser. I want his carapace to decay around him while I try to shut his eyes." Order: Sylph, Isabella, Johon, Lycan, Elgar, Galen -

"Alright men, you all know what to do! Attack the torch with your primaries, except you Isabella. You and I'll take the crustacean. I'll do my part to stop him from touching us." exclaimed Sylph, casting a spell on the Progg from his scroll of blindness. Order: Sylph, Isabella, Johon, Lycan, Galen, Elgar -

"I'll thank you now... Friends. You saved us and we are greatfull." commented Sylph as he carefully followed the two Proggs through the tunnel, making sure not to trip on the dirt and rock. "So, I have several questions. First, who are you? Are you rebels? Do you morally object to this invasion? Or do you possess a personal vendetta towards 'The Death Prog?' Second, Where are the leaders and how do we kill them?" -

"Thank you for your trust sir, I hope to live up to it." breathed Sylph through his spiked iron-animal-skull, modified to incorporate his newly acquired helmet, his earthy cowl concealing much of the modification. He stepped forward from behind, standing side by side his compatriots in front of the grim soldier. He turned slightly, continuing to speak to Lycan. "I've dealt with Lycanthropes before on several occasions, and I've grown to respect their kind. They are much closer to nature than the average man, dwarf or elf, and as a servant of the earth, I admire that. I know little of this Evoker of whom you speak, as I don't believe I have met him before." His brown cape billowed in the chill wind which blew from the north. Sylph could sense the unnatural forces at work in Luoch. He listened as his party grew restless. So fast too. "If we are staging an invasion, it can be done." stated Sylph, addressing his party. "Small numbers provide us with mobility and flexibility. A strike force can deal damage to even a massive horde, but none of that matters if we're squabbling over our personal beliefs. We are all agents of Heroica, chosen for our experience and individual skills and talents. We can debate religion however violently we want when we return to the hall with the head of the Progg leaders adorning our belts." -
2013 Friends Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Squeee! This is epic! I need (at least) the Magic set and the Karate set! There's so much awesomeness in these! ~Insectoid Aristocrat -
That's a really good point that I had thought of. By encouraging the purchase of the smaller sets (which are probably the most commonly purchased anyway because of the small amount of on person money they require), tLC could get even more of them sold, especially if they look good (like the Shark Scout or his torpeedo-like DPV). I've honestly always been a fan of mini-ships. There's just something so cool about small individual strike ships, especially in numbers. I think it's sort of the same appeal as that of motorcycles. Army building could be and probably is the direction in which TLC is heading with the swarm. I anticipate (and hope for) several variations of similar mini-ships spread through-out the sets. (like this ship to The Stingrays or this ship to Blacktron II) The original Insectoids had a myriad of cute and awesome mini-ships, from this cricket-like one (which was my favorite as a kid even though I didn't ever have the set and was forced to make my own); to this one, which I did have and love; to the flying drones in these two sets. I hope this theme brings back the idea of detachable mini-ships. I don't understand why such an awesome concept went by the way side? It's like having your cake and having a brownie too! Oh, the Halcyon days of youth. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

I think you're right about the set division, but whether or not it's an even contest is debatable as most of the bug ones appear to be on the smaller side, which is potentially a bit disappointing. It reminds me of SP3's first wave where the largest ship the Baddies had was the space truck. That really worked for the gang concept, but with insectoid villains locked in a space battle with a human military force, a larger ship could come in handy. I'm dying for Pics. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Yay! I finally updated my Character Pic! You can see him in the Training Page! (Also, did anyone get the Shakespeare Reference I dropped in the text?) ~Insectoid Aristocrat
