Legends of Chima 2013
Dannylonglegs replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
HaHa! The plot thickens! Excellent! I told you the story would make things more interesting. I'm glad there's a cool back-story behind the somewhat bizarre theme. I'm interested in seeing how the sets fit in, and the style of the minifigures. I'm pleased it's more than Humans vs. Monsters. ~Insectoid Aristocrat -
Heroica RPG - Quest #43: Protect My Brother
Dannylonglegs replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
So, if we win, we get XP and smelly hide (only usable by Barbs and beast masters). We have 2 phoenix essences with Nur, and 1 with Johon, so it's possible. most of the Trolls' attacks deal 30 damage, which is quite brutal. If you think we can manage it Nur, go ahead and join the fray. It'd involve you wasting a turn healing Johon or me, followed by either you or Johon reviving the other. If we do stay in, we should stay until either you or Johon (whomever has the last Phoenix essence) or Dak is KOed, in which case, he should get us out of here. If they both become KOed, we're up a creek without a paddle. Also, he has 700 or so health, so we'll be with him for about 7 rounds, assuming we all score well. Do you think we can do it, or are the rewards not worth the risk? -

Ragnarök Now - Sign Up Thread

skål! 1. I Won my first game as the SK in Bob's Prohibition Mafia; I was killed early on as Gavin Gorilla in the Mafia School, Fabuland Housewives (and then my lover died the next night. ); I died when I started making some sense in Belville Mafia; I trusted Tammo and lead the Town to a bad place in Jedi Temple Mafia; I almost beat the Town in Excalibur 1.0 before things got out of hand and the game stopped; and I was right on the first day of 2.0, but screwed up; And Finally, I beat the Town in Hinckley's the Forest II, only to die, killed by "our" SK's bear hands... and an ax. 2. Ja! 3. When I'm scum (and I seem to play best as scum) I'm definitely Loki-esque, and my Town game's been pretty Balder-y (innocent) But I'm trying to change that. I think I made good move during Ex2.0 going on the attack like Thor, but I lacked Odin's wisdom. Perhaps Odin then would be a good god on which to model my game. ~Insectoid Vikingr -

Legends of Chima 2013
Dannylonglegs replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yes! They've skipped the picture phase entirely! Who needs pictures to complain about how stupid the figures'll look or how dumb a revised version of Insectoids'll be!? I am highly anticipatory of better pictures though. I will refrain from judgement until I see new pictures. I'm currently not impressed, but the pictures I've seen have not been flattering. Almost more important than pictures, I'd like to know the basic story. With this new theme the story's not readily visable from the pictures like it would be with the new Galaxy Squad theme. AvP=Aliens vs. People. Chima on the other hand is very strange and likely highly story focussed, so even when we see the good pics, we'll only be seeing half of the intended theme. ~Insectoid Aristocrat -

If neither Dak nor Johon shows up, they both use their basic Melee attacks on the troll from the front row. -
Finally! The horse is most certainly now glue. We can stop beating it. Ultimately it doesn't really matter to me who won. Perhaps it is because I didn't play as "hard" as Shadows did, perhaps it's just how I am, but the fact that I had fun the entire game and learned a great deal easily overcomes the disappointment I felt after learning that Draggy wasn't really on our side. The mechanic may have been... unique, but it's the mechanic we got stuck with and the mechanic that screwed us in the end. Did we play a good game? Yes! We almost won. Did Draggy play a good game? Most certainly! He was both "Town," "Scum," and neutral! That's a big burden even if you're one of the most experienced players on the field, and even though I would have prefered not losing, losing to Draggy doesn't feel like losing at all. We were tricked, but so was the town by us. Draggy played his part as we played ours. Do I think that Draggy should have been convertable? Whatever! We lost by narrow margins, but we beat the town, and at least I had a great time doing it! ~Furry, Insectoid Aristocrat

No... "You" was referring to Hinckley, and I was just continuing your thought and mixing it with my own... (Insert reference to Klingon Mind-Meld. ) Which is why I was speaking to Hinckley, but quoted you. ~Furry, Insectoid Aristocrat

I thought it was because you got annoyed with us after you and Shadows argued! ~Furry, Insectoid Aristocrat

Sorry to bring your hopes up and crash them down, but it went a little more like this: 1. Shadows tells us Draggy's claimed lumberjack and asks us if any of us are secretly the stump. 2. We get excited that Shadows found the SK and all tell him "No, we're not the stump." 3. We decide converting him is he best way to keep him under control. We discuss if this'll make him lose his kill and conclude that it's unlikely. 4. Shadows gets into an argument with Hinckley and discusses it in the thread. Shadows thinks Hink is hiding Draggy's kill. 5. Draggy is "converted" and added to the thread. 6. We lose. That's it. I hope Shadows is ok with this having been posted, as he did make the thread specifically to avoid Your interference. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

I agree! I think we did really well as a team! For the record, our primary place of strategy discussion occurred in your writeboard. The only talk which occurred in the SuperSecretScumBoard was about the Draggy situation, which we thought was best discussed in private. We didn't "put up a front" at all. Having Shadows as our strong leader was awesome! I feel like I learned allot about how to play as a scum and how Shadows plays as a scum... I didn't feel left out. I actually felt like I was spamming the thread un-necessarily. FunFact: I didn't send a single PM to a non-scum this game. Shadows you magnificent Bastard! I read your book! And, likewise, I'm likely to sign up for anything you host (if I have the time) because I love your hosting skill, storytelling ability, and pictures! You're always great fun! Thanks, I think I've warmed up to the prospects of playing scum. I enjoyed it more this time than I did last... which is saying something. Strategy-wise, I like playing it safe, so half the ideas I presented in the EvilThread were not ever likely to be perpetrated unless I got positive feedback on the idea. I'm usually a good judge of what to say and what not to, and if I'm not sure about something, I scrap it. I'd actually be really interested to see which Ideas you thought were good. I am also aware that lurking is scummy. I didn't have much of a choice in the beginning though, playing from my kindle and what-not! Later, I actually wanted someone to pick up on it and then, if they were forming an argument against me, I'd turn it on them, accusing them of scumyness by taking my "inability to post due to real life" as "scummy." (sort of a low blow, I know.) It's alright! Sorry for slowing down the game... That last bit of Chesswork was awesome! I've never been in a successfull gambit before, but it worked like a charm. I'm almost disappointed Rufus was killed that night. I think it'd have been even more epic if we got him lynched the next day. While I agree that you're right, it is possible for the scum to pull it off right. We didn't get a chance to use them, but in Excalibur 1.0, I made sure we were all PMing each-other as Townies on the off chance that we had to go public at any point. ~Furry, Insectoid Aristocrat

I know what it's like, I've only been at college for a month and I'm already itching to build something! The only Lego I brought with me is this: A gopher, the schools mascot, that I made at the local Lego store's Pick-a-Brick, and the Vampire Bat Collectible Minifigure. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

"Johon! The boy's shouldn't know we're here! Damnations! Get back here! Nur, I want you to make a shield of rock partially around the boys just to stop them from being crushed. If possible, make it look like the stones did it themselves. Do whatever it takes to maintain that shield! Johon, Dak, you two and I will take on the troll! You from the front, and me from the back! Prepare what you need now. Is that clear?! Charge!" Cried Sylph to the party as he stepped a few paces forward and prepared his bow. -

"I will try however." Stated Sylph grimly after contemplating the situation. "If you forsake the gold and return the slab (perhaps some of your blood too), then maybe the gods can reverse the curse. I will pray that they do. We have done a bad thing, and we must not repent for fear of punishment, but rather, the will to do right." -

"No god will forgive what we've done. We murdered the guards of a holy place, and defiled it with our greed. Please indulge yourselves. Take the gold. But I won't touch it, though I too am cursed for not stopping you."
