  1. I like Blue the best for the standard redcoat soldier. I like yellow (and the new gold) for Sergeants and Lieutenents, Captains, etc. and I like white for flag officers.
  2. Thanks for all the nice comments! With the slopes I was actually trying to represent the curve of the hull leading up to the skeg. The bow looked too round to me without the slopes and the skeg was sticking out way to far. I might have the slopes a stud to close to the skeg so the distinction isn't clear. I'll play around with it a little. I don't think blue would look good with black and yellow. They really were this black and yellow. I am going to incorporate some white into the masts so perhaps that will help. The gun ports are traditionally yellow like the gun deck. The only other color you could make them is black (or white which I think would look really weird) and by making them black you are just going to give the whole ship a very checkered look I think. Red might work on a smaller ship with fewer gun ports but I think it looks unatural. The new Imperial Flagship has 4 hull mid-sections. Foudroyant (a 1st rate ship of the line) has 9 mid-sections and three gun decks plus is much bigger at the bow and stern so I'd say she is closer to three times the size of the IFS. Venerable and Resolution (3rd rate ships of the line) have 7 mid-sections and two gun decks so overall twice as big. Indefatigable and La Trompeuse (5th rate Frigates) have 5 mid-sections and 1 gun deck. So probably around a quarter bigger. Hotspur has (Sloop of War) has 3 mid-sections and 1 gun deck built on the small hulls. She is a little smaller than the IFS. I am building an IFS today and I'll take a picture of it with the other ships so we can see. I think I could probably squeeze a 6th rate 28 gun Frigate on the stock IFS hull set-up. I am going to build an EIC merchant ship named the Lady Castlereagh on the IFS hulls I have and maybe two smaller Frigates. Sounds good. I look forward to your project. Best of luck. It is true that the more you build the better you become.

  10. Great first ship. I think you did a nice job with the rigging especially. Good luck with the contest.
  11. I think she looks marvelous! I am not normally a big fan of the blue sides but you are pulling it off nicely. Best of luck with the rest of the build. I look forward to meeting you on the high seas :pir-skull:
  12. You were on that island so long you forgot where to post your MOD. It looks great supersized. Can't wait to see what you have planned next.

  15. Very orange. It looks great. There was actually one of these near my grandparents house that was a hamburger drive up place built in the 1950's. I think it is gone now replaced by a 7/11. Good job.
  16. Cool. They look great in the real world. The second picture is my favorite.
  17. Terrific. I really like the use of arches on the interior.
  18. Great job. It looks excellent. My favorite part is the riverside level with the sewer. It will look great in the port.
  19. I love this! Classic press gang. Way to go. My two favorite details are the floor scrubing girl and the bar stools. This is a really great and entertaining scene.
  20. Very funny. I like it. The doors for roofs look good.
  21. This is great. You did a really excellent job incorporating the multilevel structure of your building into a very beautiful rock base. Best of luck with the contest.
  22. This is great. I love the hull roof. Very clever!
  23. Your talent has no limit. The beard for floating hair is hillarious but the brick built davy jones is absolutely spectacular.
  24. Very cool. I love the idea of adding the ship hull. Way to go.
  25. Thanks. Good to see you. Seems like its been a while? Here is another update of HMS Foudroyant. I have the bow 95% complete. still needs a few details. I have also rebuilt the upper edges of the ships sides and added some more detail (thanks Captain Green Hair and Bonaparte for the inspiration on the checkers.).
