Whoof. That sure went on long. Everyone got it out of their system now? A bit long-winded, but insults and incoherent speech didn't kick in too bad. Neither did anyone's ability to clearly state what they meant falter too bad. Anyway, bleh. Enough already. And no damn giant, red letters again, k? So yeah, I think the new Crystal King Power Miners baddie is just way too <insert that tiresome argument> and ohshitWRONGFORUM!

Power Miners: New Sets for 2009

E.Not even symmetrical. F. (? Can the teeth element be removed I wonder?) Whatta' mess. That is NO $20 figure, like at all. -
I love how pizzas are just propped up all over the ground to be picked up for delivery lol. Rather like the pizza stickers. GREAT idea that I've just not ever seen before.

Power Miners: New Sets for 2009
JINZONINGEN73 replied to cartoondude's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
http://www.flickr.com/photos/no_onions/328...157613974183951 I'm all for lime green supports... but when did they ruin the mold like that? The black supports I have from like 1999 were all sorts of AWESOME. These ones look "cheap". -
Yah, if the mask packs are really, truly gone forever... then jam them sets with recolor masks at least. I like how Lego's not blowing time, money and resources on "ammo" packs or rubber slugs with hardly any connection points. There is NO substitute for what those mask packs were. Kinda' sad to see that the new snowflakes are the same one from the winter set. I really liked the idea of black ones like in the prototype pics. Nice seeing a set in classic red. What a WIN figure. Good colors, new ankle armor, a fire sword that finally doesn't suck... awesome. And yah, Mata Nui's been done justice. I prefer the yellow over gold any day, Absolutely LOVE the strange trans effect in the staff of Vastus. He's pretty awesome too.

Made this for the BBC #52 contest over on BZPower. Had to pull it though, for I CANNOT COUNT. Here we go... the rubber missile firing MIDNIGHT RESISTANCE. FEATURES: --fires rubber arrow darts --has safety switch --flip down holographic targeting visor --has a nice "heavy" feel --tastes good on a cracker --gets you arrested if you draw it in public Other pics: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/JINZONIN...istance_003.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/JINZONIN...istance_004.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/JINZONIN...istance_005.jpg I had a FUN time (>__<) bringing it up to the 75Technic/25System contest ratio. Had to take it apart and jam axle friction pegs every-freaking-where. I was still short, so I made the bottom platform of the handle more colorful. In the end... still was too short. So, no contest for me! GALLERY (when accessible): http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=368417

DUDE, that so looks like GWAR art by Dave Brockie. He even specifically looks like Oderus Urungus here. Which is cool. There's better examples, but this is a start: http://www.oderus.com/graphics/gwar/index_clip_image002.jpg Closer, closer... http://oderus.com/graphics/bloody-nuts4.jpg

Michael Dorn has done a lot of cartoon voices... some kinda' annoying. He was Weasel on I R Weasel I think. Saw him at a Star Trek convention one time (SHUT UP. I was there strictly for the 2 "anime guys" selling stuff). All the nerds were off the showroom floor to go listen to him talk. As I went around eying Japanese robots all alone at the various tables, I actually had to stop and chuckle... During filming of Next Generation, Data (Brent Spiner), Geordi (LeVar Burton) and himself were ALWAYS trying to pull pranks to make people crack up and have to redo their lines. In one scene, Worf had to carry Data over his shoulder... only Brent started making heaving throwup noises only Dorn could hear. Yeah, that scene took a few tries.

Pretty misprints and exclusive recolors won @ BBC #51
JINZONINGEN73 replied to Bundalings's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Ah, so you're the man to ask... Is it true that we'll never see trans balls, because the plastic's too weak or something? Because since the first time I saw trans plastic used, I've wanted to do an all-clear figure. Granted, one CAN do that already with system pieces, but click and swing joints fall hard before the mighty ball joint. -
Hear, hear. A story that makes a person truly think about what's happening instead of TELLING them what's happening is always win. That's like most things in life really. An instruction manual can leave a person still stupid whereas actually just jumping into something and figuring it out for yourself is efficient.

MAN that magnifying glass Bohrok plate is awesome. I'm not so much into 2-toned swirly pieces (annoying when mocing)... but that one piece blows them away. The Hau is curious. Probably some odd thing like a molding nib in a different place. I'd sure like to see some sets with trans neon green tubes. I'd buy them in massive quantities. If you have a UV fluorescent blacklight (well, any light) see if they have glow in the dark in them too. Metallic purple Zamor... holy hell YES. Good for you for winning these. I don't think the other recipient of these cool items (trans Hau Nuva, trans Skrall blades, etc etc) deserved them though. I mean come on... 2 (more?) mocs connected by next to nothing, but counting as "1"? Shameful it was done then shameful it was allowed. -
It's already been translated. However not being able to read Russian, I can't attest to the accuracy of it.

And really, what he wanted to say was, "Kids! Kids! I'm talking to freaking KIDS like they're my EQUALS! They can't even wipe themselves without help, so wtf was I thinking?!?"

I'd post the animated gif of Rick dancing inside Goetse's anus... but I'm afraid I consider that a bit too strong even for a site as open and free as this one. Still hilarious though. Ok, just so people know lol, the 1227 link bops around to the beat of the drums, but it DOES stop after a few short seconds of the intro. Then, you must click your way through all the lyrics of the song before it lets you exit. In other words, no work is destroyed or lost that you might have running in another tab. The second one, the classcpc one bops around too, but lets you exit immediately. AND NOW YOU KNOW!

Not to downplay the value of the boy's life at all, but the sane approach to this is the same as one should feel when a beloved pet dies. "Is their death a result of something evil you did?" No. "Did they love you and know you loved them right up until the very end?" Yes. "So there is no reason left to feel guilty or dishonor them with dark grieving, is there?" No. With that in mind, there will still be some grieving, and that's okay. No faith in a higher power is even necessary if you can comprehend and or allow yourself to answer the 3 questions above correctly.

Honestly, 2008 was a HORRENDOUS year for Bionicle, as far as quality control went. I am buying sets again though, and it's not because Lego's pumped up the awesome so highly this year. Here's why... A man who works on Lego's website told me that they were altering things, that 2009's plastic should be better and will continue to get better as the years pass. I think he's right. The 2009 sets I've bought, though containing some identical parts from last year, are NOT breaking like the other ones. So yeah, even though there are some issues going on here, I imagine they're weeding out the reserves of their junk plastic as they switch to better materials. Don't anyone hesitate to use the customer service button on their site to reorder replacements. As for those 1x1 slopes... man. Those things DO like to crack. I have trans dark blue ones from an ambulance set a few years back... I look at them on a moc I forgot I built, and like EVERY one has splits and fractures in them! They weren't like that when I took'em out of the box nor when I put them on my moc... so it's like they "shrank" or something. Sad sad sad. And weird. Then there's the glow in the dark pieces. YIKES. I have like 100 of those 1x1 plates with the tooth... all I did was take them and make a tall stack. Same thing. I came back to it a few days ago after not looking at it for a year or two... to find many fault lines going through them.

Populus' Glatorian Arena Promo!
JINZONINGEN73 replied to ---Vertea---'s topic in LEGO Action Figures
Those hands are QUITE too yellow. But it's still good work. ... ... ...so like, is this person an expert 3D imager? Is he like scanning these parts in by laser? Because really, I wouldn't believe anyone saying these were done by skilled hand. -
Good god that blows. If there's anything positive to take from this, it's that no one involved did anything "bad" or irresponsible. His folks were just trying to make him happy, who would expect such a thing to happen, even with asthma? Lego's not facing a lawsuit in any way, as it's not wrong to just make a set awesome... ...it's just a steaming pile of "unfortunate". V__V

Which kind of redirects back to what Algernon said. And even Darth. I mean, in his position, I'd just be like, "Hey. Do my best." His overall response was kinda' dramaey, though his other responses in there were pretty good and nullifying to a majority of the kid's complaining. Now that I think about it, maybe the dude's just a lil' burnt out from the consistent schedule of, well, everything. This was as good an excuse as any to drop down so he could exit it awhile. His deadlines have been met, he can relax now... probably just wants to take it easy until the next round of work.
-
I find his reaction curious. There was hardly a kid there putting him down, yet he's going on hiatus? Odd. My guess is that was more a "punishment" he's tossing at BZ for the mods not nailing the kid who made the topic. Mind you, I wouldn't have agreed at all if they'd done that... just sayin'...

People get too hung up on looking at released sets as "the characters". I mean, given a bigger budget and some REALLY kickass designers, these guys would look totally different. You need to look at these sets as "starters", as they're pretty much just what one is getting after the designers had their ideas cut down by the penny-pinching department, safety laws, bosses, touchy-feely focus groups. Ever get, say, a Star Wars or Transformers guy only to go, "DAMN did they cheap out on the paintjob / action feature / likeness" etc etc...? That's why Lego has taken over my toy buying budget. You can change them. Some of the sets in the past have been SO bare-bones shitty that you practically NEEDED to buy more sets to make them look halfway decent. So if any of these guys have cool parts or fall under "close, but no cigar"... then buy a few more sets to juice them up. And really, buy some System sets to do it with. You just get a few System sets in a similar color to the Bionicle set... then next thing you know, you've got an armored / beefed up Bionicle dude along with a growing pile of System parts to do something cool with later. Granted, the bastards do run around 13 bucks nowadays and it'd be NICE if they were perfect... but still, buying multiples of a set is the way to go. Well actually... 2 identical Bionicle sets don't cut it anymore to modify them into something cool. It USED to, when there were fine, non-specific parts... but now, personally, System, System, System. Don't wait for summer to have ankle bellbottoms on your dudes... grab a couple 1x2 bricks, some curved slopes, a few 2x2 tiles... and have them right now. (Man... where did all THAT come from?)
-
You know, I was wondering if the chrome Darth thing originated through something along those lines. The figure looks a little "purple" in some pics, but it's still dead awesome. Welcome to EB! (Man, sure are a lot of Lego employees here lol).

Summer 09 sets on Brickshelf!

Closing, as Technic and Bionicle already have 2009 set topics.
