  1. You know, although you just make inflammatory remarks all of the time, I do tend to agree with you about this. I quite liked the whole part with the dog; I foudn that clever and cute, although I was wondering how it had to do with Star Wars. Then when the Star Wars part came in, it just felt useless. There was no motivation for it at all, besides for 'let's do Star Wars.' That was lame.
  2. Malevolence - her arms are definitely tan. I'm still looking at the picture, and there's certainly a difference between the color of her hands and the color of her arms. Republic Striker - I don't know where you're getting the idea of a fourth minifigure, or even blacked-out space for one. Look at the box; there are three figures, the Jedi girl, the droid, and the Republic Soldier guy. That's it. There's no more space there at all. Above the girl is just the Darth Maul artwork. Below the soldier is the bottom of the box. The black minifigure next to the droid is probably one of the figures in the Fury-Class Interceptor.
  3. The astromech looks pretty good to me, especially for just using already existing moulds: It gets the job done. I have to say, the Malevolence looks like a horrible blue and grey blob right now and from the angle in that picture. Maybe a straight-on angle will be more flattering, but it seems pretty ugly to me right now, and not nicely shaped either.
  4. You need to watch it to experience the true awfulness. A mere description will not do its stupidity justice.
  5. The problem is that the way the prequels were written, the characters are all much younger than they logically should be in ANH. Does Darth Vader seem like he's in his forties? He doesn't to me; in ANH I would say in his fifties at least. Obi-Wan looks and acts like he's in his 70s, but the prequels reveal him to be just in his fifties (it doesn't even work within the PT, he doesn't seem like he's only roughly 33 in RotS). It's absolutely Lucas' fault for writing the PT this way; he should've thought about it a bit more before having the characters be the ages that they are in the PT. I have thought since the PT was finished that EpI should've started with Obi-Wan as already a master, with Anakin as his apprentice, finishing in EpIII with Obi-Wan being already closer to a wise old man and in his fifties while Anakin succumbs to the dark side in his 30s. That wasn't 'George's vision,' though.
  6. Yippee, let's get a James Earl Jones minifigure! I can't believe he wasn't included in the Death Star! But honestly, maybe we'll see a Banner figure, and maybe not. At this point, lets just wait two weeks and then we can find out conclusively (if prelims haven't leaked before then).
  7. I think it's pretty clear why he might have been upset for a minute; a droid navigator appears to be pretty useful in a starfighter, and Obi-Wan isn't exactly the greatest of pilots anyway. It's clearly harder to a run a ship's systems without the droid, seeing how often the pilots in the films ask the droids for assistance. It doesn't mean Obi-Wan actually cared about that specific droid. Even in the Wookieepedia quote, it just seems that Obi-Wan had good experience flying the ship with that droid, so it's understandable that for him as a so-so pilot having to fly without a droid or adapt to a new one would be a bit of a nuisance.
  8. I'm not so sure about that. Here's packaging for an Avengers tie-in action figure, and Disney is not prominent. Parent companies do not often display their logos on the packaging for products involving subsidiary companies (if they did, you would see the same few logos on everything all the time). Perhaps we will see TDKR sets in the same vane as the TDK sets: a Batman figure and vehicles from the film, but other minifigures that look more comic-book style. Who knows what LEGO will do.
  9. In addition to what Aanchir said, I think that the bat-people simply have a new arm mould (or were going to as of the prelim pics) with arms outstretched, not a new torso and regular arms. The arms appeared to have moulded with wings on them anyway, which is something new.
  10. Aanchir's point is very true. Additionally, I thought of another point: if there were to be TDKR sets, it wouldn't technically be a DC wave, it would be a Warner Brothers wave. I know that doesn't sound like much of an argument, but it's true. These previous DC sets are licensed just with (the owners of) DC comics, while sets tied to the film would have to be licensed with Warner Bros. It could mean that we aren't getting another strictly DC wave.
  11. Did you even read the text in the quote you posted? The second part talks about a big Superman set for the following year! Also, if this was true, what happened to the Dark Knight Rises sets that everyone thought was going to happen? If that info came from the UK toy fair, it may not be reliable. Many of the so called LEGO reps there do not really know what they are talking about, or were just hired to show off toys at the event. I'd take all of the info with a grain of salt. Anyway, even if there aren't more waves this year (they've already had two anyway), there will be more the following year. LEGO said in the press release that this was a multi-year deal; they wouldn't just cancel that fast.
  12. Where do you get that from? At least in all of the cinematic trailers, the animation is nothing like the Clone Wars at all. The people are all animated to look very realistic, like real people, not the angular stylized people in the Clone Wars show. I don't see a match, which makes me wonder why LEGO used "Clone Wars style," if in fact they did. I would hold off until we see pictures of the faces to make the call whether they are actually CW style or not, as different people may thing differently about what that means. Additionally, the person from FBTB says over and over how little time he had to look at these sets, and he may not be remembering quite correctly.
  13. LEGO has used flesh tones for minifigures in licensed themes since around 2004.
  14. Interesting; it seems like Fox is basically the inverse colors of a shock trooper.
  15. That has to be the biggest volume of rocks I've ever seen in a LEGO line. It seems like half the pieces in each set are just to build rocks! I'm still completely nonplussed about these. The entire point of this line is minifigures; the sets are just grey, grey, and grey. It's good for MOCers, surely, but as sets themselves, these seem pretty lame.
  16. Aaannndddd… we're merged. Keep on discussing crappy LEGO-wannabe sets based on crappy movies (ducks flying stones) or other toys!
  17. I don't see any point in this thread at all. It is basically just to share your birthday with people, which, if you wanted to do, you could do on your profile. Just because you've turned it into a Clone ID doesn't make it any different. Additionally, I can see that members under 18 may be tempted to post in this thread, and we discourage members who are under 18 from sharing that bit of information. I'm not trying to be a kill-joy here, but I think I'll lock this up. Now let's all go discuss Star Wars in the Star Wars and Clone Wars Season 4 thread in Culture & Multimedia
  18. I don't understand; why would the original press release say that the first Hobbit sets would be coming out later in 2012? Would LEGO really not have known their true release plans when they made that press release, and changed their minds about it just a month later? I feel like if they already had the idea to 'slowly build appeal,' they would've known it for the initial press release. Additionally, that just sounds like a phony reason. They didn't take time to slowly build appeal with Indiana Jones, and more than one generation grew up since those original films were released. It could be true, but I don't know.
  19. I believe the arm is symmetrical, so it works just as well for either side. The leg would clearly need a complimentary one, though.
  20. I can't say I love the robotic limbs on the humans, but at the same time it's cool to see them on the 'good guys.' As people have said, everybody seems kind of bad in this theme, which I find awesome. You can always decide which side to root for in any theme, but the fact that both sides look semi-evil blurs that barrier even more. I'm happy to see that the monsters have been redesigned. They do still look similar to the collectible ones, but it's good that they aren't straight copies. This theme remains one about which I am most excited. I've seen so many comments here, on brickset, basically everywhere that this theme probably won't do well and that people will buy it as an afterthought, but it's not that way to me at all. These sets are much more interesting to me than LotR, Star Wars, and Superheroes.
  21. I'm just wondering (and there might be a good reason for this), why doesn't Bane need his breathing apparatus any more? I believe in all of the previous episodes where he appeared, he had it. If he doesn't need it, why was it there in the first place (besides for a being a stylistic thing)?
  22. I never assumed from those Filoni quotes that it will actually be a public thing, just that there will be more to it than genetic programming (which is sad because, as I said, I liked the whole genetic programming thing). I am certain that the Jedi won't know about Order 66, that just wouldn't make sense. I'm also certain it won't actually happen in the show. How could it? The show can't actually go into the same timeline as Episode III, it has to end beforehand.
  23. He didn't mean they would actually have order 66 in the show; I think what he was saying is that they were going to show how Sidious was working to set it up the whole time. Of course, it made sense to me in the film without any background at all. It was actually cool to think that the Clones were 'programmed' that way from the start, and all he had to do was give the order and they would do it. They CW people have only dug themselves into trouble with that by giving the Clones so much capacity for independent thought, so I guess George has some convoluted ideas about how Order 66 needs to be set up, or something.
  24. What does this have to do with LEGO Disney 2012? I can't see any connection. There is a Culture & Multimedia forum for discussing TV shows. I don't think that this news was fake. It was listed on an actual toy website that listed a lot of other things we know about as well. I'm not surprised by no pictures yet either. We haven't even seen pictures of the Marvel sets that are only two months away!
  25. Uh, that was pretty clear. In response to the question 'how will they make it fit in minifigures' hands,' fatfrog2596 replied 'in the same way they did the pompoms.' In the future, a post that says a little bit more than just 'huh' would be useful when trying to understand what you're confused about.
