The attendant prints three new tickets and hands them to Soren. "Your train should be leaving relatively soon. As I said, I'll let the manager know about the mix-up. Once again I'm sorry about your trouble." Would the party do anything else before boarding the train?

Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - Heroica Hall
Waterbrick Down replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in Heroica! The RPG!
"One of the first sets of Heroes, alpha group, agreed to a contract on Rashira, a moon of Hi-Pluvvon. They decided to operate outside the normal procedures and didn't get sign-off on the mission by the Guild first. Things went south, the heroes ended up getting stuck with stolen artifacts from the Pluravvian government and now are currently serving a ten year prison sentence on the Imperial homeworld." -
After punching in the code, the keypad flashes red for a brief moment and gives a negative tone. The door does not unlock.

"Oh, this isn't a new form. This is from when you registered with the Hall. It has all your pertinent information. Got to keep all this stuff sorted for legal purposes of course. Don't want a repeat of the Rashiran incident." Ber's notices the form he filled out when joining Heroica. -

"Here you go." Valesia smiles as she holds out the peanut brittle. "Would you mind letting us borrow that key? We'd make sure to return it once we finished with unclogging the chute." "I don't know Enson, the poor dear has probably been traumatized enough for one day." -

This exactly. Having proficiencies increases the likelihood of success but doesn't necessarily eliminate it if you don't have it. The idea behind the statistics is that for someone with no Proficiency: DC 1 = 87.5% DC 2 = 50% DC 3 = 12.5% DC 4 = 0% A simple task should be almost always successful, but a skilled task should be unlikely. -

"Oh you poor thing, if walnuts aren't your fancy, I've got a little bit of peanut brittle here too. Also some left-overs from Rachel upstairs. You wouldn't happen to be familiar with the layout of this here basement now would you? We're a bit out of sorts ourselves." -

"Ah yes, Bers... Bers... Bers... ah got your initiation form right here..." The Ornithun shuffles a few papers around, "Name's Kreri, and yes the martini does take the edge off a little after the office. That was quite a jump there." -

"Well there Mr. Grumble, it is a pleasure to meet another one of the fine employees of this revered establishment. I must agree with my fine companion Enson here, do you suspect some sort of foul play that trapped you here? Also, you haven't happened to hear anything else wandering down here have you?" -

"Oh my, just one moment sweetie we'll help you out of there. Did you say there's two of you trapped back there?" Valesia looks around her, "Enson, Hun, perhaps we can use that broomstick there as a lever to help the poor gentlemen out?" "What are you goin' on about, Sugar? Sounds just like the time I had to scale up a batch of bonbons, I had the same number of ovens, just took me a bit longer to get 'em all whipped up. I'd say your logic is sound and aim for that first one." -
Soren Deception Check (DC 3): 6, 4, 6 (3 Success, 0 Failures) The attendant begins to grow nervous at Soren's bluff. "I am so s... s... sorry sir. I will certainly have a word with my manager about the incident. You s... s... said three tickets, correct?"

"Is someone stuck in there? Hello sir, we're heroes from Heroica and we'll get you out." -
Polaris determines there's not much of value left on the drone aside from the metal and she isn't sure how that would even transfer back with her to the real world. The door seems locked. An access keypad sits to the right of the door.

"Sir as I just said, the tickets were already picked up, I'd assume by Mr. Irgonstead and his party. Are you claiming to be he?"
-
"I'm sorry Mam, my shift just started and for what it's worth I've got no way of knowing that you aren't trying to scam your way on board this train."
-
"Let me see here, one moment please, one moment please... Ah it looks like those tickets were already picked up."

Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - General Discussion

Rules and FAQ is maybe a better topic for future note, but I don't mind answering here. Successes and Failures are always a 50/50 chance. I'm using a six sided die to determine the outcomes so Failures = 1, 2, and 3's. Successes = 4, 5, 6's. A Difficulty Check (DC) success ranges from 1 (Simple Task) to 7 (Impossible Task). Some tasks have multiple tiers of success. So if you get 1 success you get some information, if you get maybe 3 successes you get a lot more detailed information. The quoted instances given are examples of this tiered DC. For Felix's survival check if he had only gotten 1 success he would have only seen some tracks leading around the building since they were so regular and consistent. Since he got 3 success he was also able to determine there was a recent set of tracks entering the building and another set of six legged tracks hopping around the side of the building. -
Yelana Perception Check (DC 3): 6, 1, 3, 6 ((2+1 auto) 3 Success, 2 Failures) As the gentlemen switches off his pad to read the newspaper besides him, Yelana notes a document bearing the letterhead of the Pluravvian Ministry of Revenue before the screen goes black. Yelana Perception Check (DC 3): 2, 2, 1, 4 (2 (1+1 auto) 2 Success, 2 Failures) Yelana is unable to get a positive identification from her current position in the line as the figure slouches further back into the shadows. The heroes soon find themselves next in line. "Next please. How can I help you?"

MM Note: Not necessarily, it wasn't clear to me whether folks were still considering changing or had settled in with what they had. Also we should determine which tool Felix has equipped for proficiency check purposes. Polaris and Miles note the transformative process of diving and recall Agent Molly's description of their current location as another sphere of reality devoid of the constraints of the material sphere and influenced by the thoughts and desires of its inhabitants. Upon an initial once over, Varen believes the object to be some sort of broken drone. Felix Survival Check (DC 1, 3): 4, 5, 4, 3 (3 Success, 1 Failures) After a few minutes studying the tracks around the warehouse entrance, he notes a regular pattern of a set of tracks that seems to follow the perimeter of the warehouse, an additional set of tracks looks to have recently entered the warehouse, and finally interspersed tracks of something with six appendages seem to lead around the corner of the building as well. Polaris Nature Check (DC 1, 3): 3, 4, 3, 1 (1 Success, 3 Failures) Polaris discovers that the crystals are actually a variety of plant life, a small humming seems to emanate from the petals, but Polaris is unable to discern anything else.

Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - Heroica Hall
Waterbrick Down replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in Heroica! The RPG!
A rather agitated Ornithun walks into Heroica Hall with a bulging briefcase of documents. After a brief conversation with the bartender she claims one of the tables, martini in one hand and briefcase in the other. Emptying the case's contents and organizing the main folders within, she downs the martini in a single drink before ordering another. "Now lets see ten form G's, a couple delta reports, two Pluvvon filings... gonna need another drink..." -

"Seems as good a place to start as any. Though if that's your weapon, Hun, we may want to reconsider our approach with the rats." Valesia smiles. -
"Alright, we're just going to go with each of your last choices. Settle in now, we'll be dropping you pretty close to the site." "Good luck heroes!" The heroes close their eyes and the dive rigs begin to softly vibrate and machines whir and crackle in the background. Similar to lowering yourself into a swimming pool each of the heroes feel their consciousness slowly drift away from their corporeal forms. Felix Ætherdiving Check (DC 1): 6, 2, 5 (2 Success, 1 Failures) Varen Ætherdiving Check (DC 1): 5, 2, 3 (1 Success, 2 Failures) Polaris Ætherdiving Check (DC 1): 6, 2, 4 (2 Success, 1 Failures) The heroes each feel the tug and pull of the terrestrial sphere like swimming against a current, but are easily able to overcome the resistance. Eventually a blue glow begins to brighten their mind's eye and in another instant they find themselves standing on a vibrantly colored path overlooking a large steel and glass warehouse. The smell of burnt popcorn wafts through their noses as their eyes adjust to the brilliant saturated hues of Ætherspace.

"Whew, been a while since I had to do that much liftin'," Valesia dusts herself off before spotting the rat, "Oh hello there little fell... and he's gone. How rude." The Cladrasith pauses upon hearing the groan. "Now that is a tad bit unsettling. Perhaps the source of that noise Ms. Rachel warned us about?" -
Perception Check (DC 1 & 3): 4, 3, 2, 2 (1 Success, 3 Failures) Soren only notes the one guard who seems occupied with checking passengers' tickets before they board, ignoring most of the rest of the crowd's antics. MM Note: Just waiting to see if @Classic_Spaceman wanted to do anything before continuing.
