If it's accuracy you want you could always just buy one of these... At the price 7660 goes for on bricklink you're probably better off building your own. 7660 is too big anyway.

What other SW "Battle Packs" would you like to see?
Fallenangel replied to BearHeart's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Perhaps someone wishing to recreate a scene from The Courtship of Princess Leia? (Come on LEGO, give us a whuffa! ) -
Instead of telling each other to shut up let's try and limit the Prequel bashing to within this thread... I wouldn't say all of those are minor - the whole concept of midi-chlorians pretty much destroyed the preconceived notion of the Force as an energy field created by all living things, and Padme and Jar Jar made Menace and Clones respectively far less bearable than they deserved to be. Now if you want minor, there's the fact that they wasted precious money making a face for Gunray that would actually move its mouth like a real person when they could have just done what they did with Ackbar and it wouldn't have made a difference. I can't help but think that a J-type 327 Nubian set would turn out much like 7663 Sith Infiltrator did - too many large slope bricks. What's more, unless they do chrome the hull (the price would be insane) it would just be a boring hunk of grey because the thing is literally spotless - no greebling or markings to speak of. Not to mention the fact that making a new mold for the Queen would jack up the price even more.

Hooray, new droideka! (It's a little weird, but it's an improvement over the last one.) Not quite skeletal enough if you ask me, but at least it's got articulated legs. I'm not surprised by the similarity in design to 7660 (X-wing of the Prequels, indeed) but it's interesting to see that they've included a stand of some sort. And that blue thing looks a lot like one of the carts in the Yavin IV hangar... Of the changes I can see, the clear cockpit piece is a step in the right direction. And are those new slopes in the front? I suppose this would a nice set for anyone who feels they missed out on 7660. I'm thinking about $40.

I've had this together for a very long time:

Oh, this is the rear! And here I was looking for large triangular windows.
-
Wow, so many emoticons! The cockpit can seat two. You just need some extra pieces.

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars
Fallenangel replied to BrickBob Studpants's topic in Culture & Multimedia
So... what is that creature in the first clip Oky Wan Kenobi posted supposed to be? Ooh, an Octuptarra tri-droid! Shame it's not brickbuilt though. -
I gotta say that first one is hilarious! Perhaps you could do something in a similar manner with 8128...

You can learn a lot from looking at others' renditions of vehicles, UCS or otherwise. (I know I did!) For example, Gareth's model demonstrates about how thick the ring around the craft should be...

Well, one would have to be 7778 Midi-scale Millennium Falcon - while not without its share of inaccuracies, it looks a lot better than its System predecessors. And it's quite sturdy and playable. The size makes it small enough to fit on your desk while not too big for kids to pick up, as well as a good candidate for use in dioramas. Another would have to be 7256 Jedi Starfighter and Vulture Droid, for very much the same reasons. To name a third, 6207 A-wing. There are quite a few... and I find that when a set really does appeal to me I don't care so much that it's inaccurate. Now 4500, that was just ugly. I remember some AFOLs insisting that 7130 was a better set (and it is in certain aspects, accuracy notwithstanding). By the way, I think it was supposed to be a Y-wing canopy piece, because it bears no resemblance to the X-wing's whatsoever. I guess 7658, 7665, and 10174 weren't all that bad, but I would have to disagree with you on 10134 and 7657. The engine nacelles were obscenely elongated on the former, and I found the latter a disappointment, especially considering what LEGO had done with 10174. -
[MOC] Imperial Speeder Bike - Bionicle Style!
Fallenangel replied to George G.'s topic in LEGO Star Wars
Then you can expect a PM from me as well. As others have said, the Bionicle approach isn't something you see very often; it makes for a rather interesting design. Very nice. -
That's Gareth's model, not Anio's.

This is great. Thank you.

Hmm, authorized the '03 Clone Wars, did he? It seems, contradicting his own universe Lucas is. What goes on in his mind, forever a puzzle to us will it remain. Seriously though, the old series really is better... crazy Force usage aside, the blocky 2-D animation almost feels closer than the ocean of CGI that is the Neo-Clone Wars. I think the reason for the inconsistency has to do with the idea that the more powerful the presence of the Force is, the more predictable that character becomes. In other words, if all Jedi were incredibly strong with the Force nothing would harm them and stuff like seeing them destroy MTTs by shoving them against each other (as Yoda did during the Battle of Coruscant) would get really boring after a while. I think one of the most ridiculous instances would have to be Qui-Gon trying to cut through triple blast doors rather them just blowing them apart with the Force and saving a lot of time. Part of what worries me about the live-action series is what it will do to Fett's backstory as presented in The Tales of the Bounty Hunters. I happen to think it was rather well-written and I would hate for it to become apocryphal like the Coruscant Nights books just did.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars: season 3 discussion
Fallenangel replied to Corvus's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Lot of speculation here. I'm personally hoping she turns to the Dark Side so the Jedi have a reason to kill her. Meanwhile, I'm sure Lucas will make an agreement with Mattel to make her into a Barbie doll so she can intrude into someone else's childhood franchise. That's the only one you've noticed? What about Anakin being irresponsible, the Delta-7B, the story of Grievous' body, Mandalorians, Aurra Sing, Kit Fisto's Jamaican accent, hibernation sickness, and everything else that's been mentioned? The Neo-Clone Wars has messed up the timeline to the point that it would probably be easier for Leland to denounce it as N-canon. But I guess I can understand if Lucas chooses to repudiate the parallel universe he knows nothing about. I mean, it's not like he wrote any of those books... -
Seeing as they sized down the AT-AT and MTT I don't see why they couldn't do the same for an SPHA-T, among other reasons. As I said on FBTB: Funny, none of those ships really appealed to me. Then again, I thought the Mon Calamari ships looked out of place in Jedi so I guess we just have different tastes. I think the consensus is that LEGO will only make UCS ships/vehicles from the Original Trilogy, perhaps because ships from those are more iconic than ships from the Prequels. I don't think any of the ships you mentioned are very iconic at all. Of course, if they did make a UCS set from Menace I think it should be the Radiant VII. The System rendition is just too fat. And then for Clones we already have the Delta-7 (not really iconic, but it looks good), or maybe a LAAT/i (though that really wasn't very iconic either). For Sith, either a Venator or a Providence...

There's a difference between a small inaccuracy like the color of a minifigure's arms and a large one like completely botching the proportions a ship so as to make the set look bad. Were they bluish? I don't think so... -
I don't think you can really represent the Expanded Universe as a single category because there are so many different contributors, all of who have produced works of varying quality. Besides, all the three factions in debate currently represent different parts of Lucas' Star Wars universe, and throwing Expanded Universe into the mix would ruin that.
-
No problem. It's nice when people take my suggestions into account. You're right about that X-wing being pretty poorly proportioned, though; I can think of three or four things I'd change from that wing shot alone. I'm glad someone else shares my opinion of 6212. I thought so. Maybe there's a way to incorporate both; minifigure neck brackets could work.
-
Is it just me or do a lot of people here not know where the 'Shift' or '.' keys on their keyboard are? Let's not be lazy... As Stoutfiles said, Expanded Universe sets don't seem to be very popular, even when they're something neat like the TIE Defender.

Do they announce those beforehand? I thought Lucas just took whatever came out of his head and told Filoni to have it made into an episode. -

You're kidding, right? It'd just be waste of money for LEGO. Kids aren't going to let the fact that Cody's visor is the wrong color stop them from buying a set. -
The instructions are right here. Why is it that nobody capitalizes anything anymore?

As if it wasn't obvious enough... besides, isn't it technically the other way around? That Lucas wrote a story about how Fett's armor and ship were actually inherited from his father? Then again, the Jango minifigure from 7153 has purple arms and legs, so maybe LEGO is under the impression that Mandalorian armor should be brightly colored and shiny.
