Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion
Fallenangel replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Season 4 holiday marathon? So this was taken from the show? -
Indeed. I believe we began discouraging the posting of future sets in this manner quite some time ago. @North Lego Star: A small suggestion intended to help: I would recommend putting spaces after you place a comma. It so enhances readability.

Hello, L-DI-EGO! I had no idea you were still active in LEGO. But the perceived hiatus is more than justified by this absolutely marvelous creation! I'll comment briefly on each of the individual areas of this impressive playset design: The hangar is nicely tiled over and wonderfully decorated! The design for the bay doors is clever and effective The communications tower is simply decorated but perfectly functional. The use of the large transparent piece to represent the window behind the Chancellor's chair is perfect! The elevator looks to be well-integrated and unobtrusive. I love the placement of the harpoons at the rear of the tower – there simply is no shortage of detail anywhere. I am similarly taken with the engine room, which is also simple but welcome as a play feature nonetheless! The hallway is a great inclusion and critical to the playset, as is the escape pod – perhaps you could even include a top hat for Grievous to act out this scene. The MIDI ships, which could be standalone MOCs, complete the set. They're instantly recognizable and every bit as functional as they need to be. The vulture droid in particular as a great little model with all the playability of the one from 7660. The droideka isn't the best, but it rolls up and is far closer to minifigure scale than The LEGO Group's have ever been. I love the use of the snowshoes and knives. The same goes for the buzz droid with its skeleton's foot and pickaxes. Lastly, the exterior itself is beautiful and makes a great display model, complete with stand. Shaping and colors are as on par as playsets go, and the unusual fatness is perfectly excusable given the marvels within! Given the size of and amount of detail on this creation (not to mention the number of minifigures) this would easily surpass 10188 in price; as such, the chances of this becoming an official release as it is now is slim, but I'm certain that if released, it would make a fantastic playset and a valuable AFOL collector's item. While I'm still here, allow me to also take a second to say that the LDD X-wing in your Brickshelf folder, which you shared on Eurobricks some year and a half ago) is groundbreaking in the techniques used in shaping the forward fuselage (you've executed the critical hexagonal cross-section of the nose with a significant degree of success). I recall you saying on the Flickr page for Psiaki's X-wing that you had a revised edition in the works - is it complete yet? Being the X-wing fan that I am, I was definitely impressed with your rendition, stability issues aside, and would be interested in seeing further progress.

Well, you've got 10600+ posts and eight tags, not to mention a staff position and a huge sig. Next to that, my two tags and measly 2000+ posts make me look like a n00b. EDIT: Rufus and CorneliusMurdock joined after I did as well. Inconceivable.

Welcome to Eurobricks, mortesv! Before anything else, I think your modification of 10030 is fantastic! What was arguably one of the less interesting parts of the set is now just as impressive and eye-catching as the bridge tower. This definitely does the engine bank justice! Having said that, I've got a few pictures of the studio model's rear at the moment, and there are a few comments I'd like to make, but before I say anything, I'd be interested in seeing the pictures from the process you went through to complete this project. Pictures of the presumably modified Tantive IV would be nice as well.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Fallenangel replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yes. -
I've taken the liberty of reposting your link here so others can see it. This is a great first MOC to post here. I very much like how dense and active your town looks, and the Green Grocer fits in well. Now if someone could move this to the LEGO Town subforum so it can be appreciated by people more familiar with these kinds of MOCs than I am, that would be great...

On second thought, Oky, your funny would be perfect for MOCs like the ones shown in this thread. I scoffed at the micro TIE/ln before, but thanks to you, I see it in a new, more positive light. It kind of makes me want to dig out my sigfig from way back when and make one of my own swoosh vigs...

[LDD MOCs] Brickdoctor's 2011 Star Wars Advent Calendar
Fallenangel replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Having examined this MIDI TIE/ln for a good fifteen now twenty-five minutes or so, I will say that it's... pure win! Seriously, I love this. Proportions, technique, the Technic drive ring – all of it just oozes LEGO TIE awesomeness. Everything just clicks together really well at this size (no pun intended ). Easily one of the best to be produced in this groundbreaking project. The only tiny thing I would change is the Technic bush used in the pylons – it needs fins. Unfortunately, the only other piece I can think of that would work is this with most of the teeth shaved off – though I wouldn't bat an eye going through with that modification if it meant making this sweet model look even better. Having read what I just wrote, I'm getting the feeling I'm not quite there right now – but what the heck. This MIDI TIE rocks and I'd die for a fleet of it. -
It's just occurred to me that Big Cam joined about three months after I did, though it seems like he's been around much longer than that. I'm kind of in the same situation as KielDaMan in that I didn't seem to have become fully active on Eurobricks until about a year after I joined, with the first of my numerous debate threads and my first MOC post. It's quite funny to see threads I remember posting in located some 50+ pages back. I can't remember exactly why I joined, but I think it had something to do with the fact that I had been an avid reader on the old FBTB forums but could never participate because the site never let me sign up. In any case, I've been on nearly every day since then, and my time on this site has been quite the experience with its numerous ups and downs... I hope people will be able to share in this experience for years to come. Let's keeρ oη brιcking...

I'm reminded of one of Greg's comics, but I think I've already linked to it here, so instead... Sandrock?

That's interesting - the AT-ST driver doesn't appear to be wearing goggles. New face print, perhaps? -

I don't recall ever seeing any Ithorians in Jedi, though that wouldn't stop the designers from sticking one in. (Still waiting for Roron Corobb to show up in THE Clone Wars...) I wouldn't be surprised if it was something obscure like Elom, Whiphid, or Chozo Ishi Tib. I still think it's likely to be Zuckuss. -
[LDD MOCs] Brickdoctor's 2011 Star Wars Advent Calendar
Fallenangel replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
That was the first quick fix I saw - I'm glad you approve. Though I just realized that the bit with the landing feet isn't attached to the rest of the model. Of course, Hollander. At the moment, though, I'm considering a version with 6-wide nacelles - the head of the Y-wing has never really been done justice at that size, and I'd like to tinker more with kost u grlu's solution. Flail, RenegadeClone, and quite a few others have already done some wondeful work with 6-wide nacelles, so I've got plenty to go off of. But we digress. As the last week of Advent is upon us, I eagerly await what I'm sure will be fantastic renditions of the TIE/ln, Falcon, and A-wing. Again, the incredible amount of work put into this undertaking amazes me. Keep it up! -
KimT wears the armor of the 327th. The guy on the right must be trying to impersonate him.

[LDD MOCs] Brickdoctor's 2011 Star Wars Advent Calendar
Fallenangel replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
As a matter of fact, Brickdoctor's Y-wing is about the same size as the one I was working on – the nacelles line up nearly perfectly. It's funny, because prior to this, I had never seen a Y-wing built to scale with 4-wide nacelles. That being said, Brickdoctor's model is so well done that I might as well give up on mine. The greebling is superb, the use of the hat as an R5 unit is perfect, and the head and cockpit canopy couldn't be done better at this size. As for how they could be improved, Bruceywan recently posted a fantastic experimental photo where the support pylons are only a tile thicker than the nacelle, which fixes the biggest problem with my nacelles – I would love to see this implemented. -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
Fallenangel replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I concur. Remember, it's not like I ever liked the actual thing anyway. The piece itself is relatively new in smoke, and when we saw it on 7959 someone mentioned how it would be perfect for a Delta-7, so this came as a pleasant surprise. -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
Fallenangel replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I think this new line will make many AFOLs very happy. We've got Malevolence, a new bongo, and a new Jabba's palace. As far as minifigures go, we've got Padme (I think), Oola, Boushh, Salacious Crumb, Zuckuss (I hope), and Even Piell, all of which have been desired for some time. Z-95 and a T3-like utility droid? Do you mean to say that there exists a chance of these two popping up in future sets? I was actually about to complain about the fact that there was yet another 'new' Delta-7B until I took a second look and noticed... the new dome piece! The entire cockpit area has been redesigned! -
I don't have much to add, but I would like to commend def for being one of the most mature and interesting voices in this thread. No shame in wanting one of these.

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
Fallenangel replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The fact alone that these pictures have turned up on YouTube before anywhere else makes me skeptical, as does the fact that the line includes two sets from the new game and another Advent calendar (not to mention only one set from Menace and a rehash at that), but the sets do look otherwise plausible and match up somewhat with the rumors we've been seeing. Looks to be Zuckuss in the Palace set. -
It's all in good fun. In my experience, giving and receving good constructive criticism is just as much a part of MOCing as building. Comments like "Love it! " or "Nice work!" are pretty safe and appropriate every once in a while, but if that's all anyone ever said about an MOC, I wouldn't see it as any more useful than spamming. I applaud JackJonespaw for being the first in this thread to offer suggestions for improving the astromech droid.
-
I suppose so, but one can always hope.
-
I'm serious. I've been pushing this point for quite some time now. Might I ask why you feel any of the three things I mentioned wouldn't be suitable for a "kid's cartoon"?
-
Yes, hopefully before long the show will have rationing, war propaganda, civilian air raids, and other things showing that the Clone Wars actually had the impact it was supposed to have.
