  1. That's the Brickmaster Venator, isn't it? What happened to the bridge area?
  2. I was actually about to compliment the brickbuilt canopy... as well as the S-foil mechanism that Psiaki borrowed from me, who adapted it from the one used by Dave Eaton, who based his off the studio model.
  3. Where? The Brickipedia article for 9494 mentions a Flickr set from imperiumdersteine but makes no mention of the price; this page lists the price you mentioned but cites only one source which also says nothing about 9494 or its price. Imperiumdersteine isn't mentioned in the second page at all. Considering that the same page also lists an incorrect price for 9489, I'd say we're looking at fabricated numbers.
  4. Are you sure? imperiumdersteine and Toys N Bricks have had the price listed as 39,99€ ($29.99 USD) for quite some time now.
  5. There have been a few, the most well-known being Gareth's. Ras_Al_Ghul made one, and of course Oky's Christmas-themed rendition deserves mention.
  6. For a second there I thought Dapper-D2 was copying and pasting posts.
  7. Another giant LEGO stage:
  8. Seeing as the dimensions are the defining physical trait of an otherwise generic black slab, of course. Or at least, that’s what I would have answered if I hadn’t done a bit of looking around on the Replica Prop Forums earlier today. According to one fan, the dimensions of the actual prop used in the film do not precisely follow this ratio: One may even go so far as to say the 1:4:9 ratio is only the ‘official’ ratio for the dimensions of the monolith, similar to how the A-wing's ‘official’ length is an enormous 9.6m...
  9. I remember the last time I mentioned this to someone on this forum. His exact words to me were:
  10. Thought I’d finally get around to commenting on this unique MOC. I’m not familiar with this toy, but from the reference you’ve provided, your LEGO representation captures the feel of the original quite well. Folding wings are a plus. Some interesting shaping on this craft; the unusual shape reminds me a bit of the I-7 Howlrunner (which itself bears a resemblance to the Earth Directorate starfighter from Buck Rogers). A small suggestion; have you considered SNOTing 3L Technic beams to the backs of the repulsor drive units? They aren’t grilled like the 1x2 bricks that are there now, but I think they would represent the bits on the ship more accurately.
  11. You’ve outdone yourself yet again. What stands out most on this MIDI is the seamless SNOT work in the nose and on either side of the cockpit – those sand green semicircles couldn’t be better. Is that the new slope piece from 7877? I can’t help wondering whether there’s a better way to build the stabilizer fins, though – they look odd hanging down like that. Perhaps one could set back the tan bar so that it’s level with the lower edge of the red bit (I believe it’s referred to as the ‘skirt’) and attach the fins with horizontal clip plates (the latter being flush with the rounder corner plates)... For the skirt itself, I’ve wondered whether SNOTed wedge plates could be used for that area, similar to what’s seen on 8086. What do you think? Sadly, it appears we won’t see another ship model until Friday. Fortunately, that next model will be an X-wing. His Radiant VII can’t be beat.
  12. Say, that's not a bad idea. Now if only staff could take it up...
  13. Have another SONE in the making, do we? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YgfsQYjLfc That makes three on Eurobricks...
  14. Most sets are System, and most of those are within the acceptable range for minifigure scale. MOCs are all over the place. System comes from what The LEGO Group used to label sets that were designed to be compatible with minifigures: I'm not sure why everyone keeps adding '-scale' to the end of it, though.
  15. That isn't metallic silver on the N-1, is it? EDIT:
  16. Two months after the fact? I do wish the Mods would change it soon... so far not a single 'plante' has been mentioned.
  17. Interesting point you've brought up, Art; my thoughts on this... Although the lack of a storyline initially put me off as well, I’ve come to view it as an interesting artistic decision... a major theme of the film is that life is not a cohesive sequence, but rather a series of moments (more or less addressed in Linklater’s own monologue near the end of the film), all blending into each other, and this is also illustrated in how abrupt the transitions are between monologues – there isn’t enough time to fully appreciate one moment, because you’re already in the next. The film also brings up the existence of multiple realities independent of time so that one is never sure which reality they’re in (as evident from Julie Delpy’s line about how a few minutes of dreaming could contain the whole of one’s life and even suggested by Eamonn Healy’s line on multiple existences as a result of telescoping evolution, not to mention the fact that the question of whether the protagonist even survived the car accident at the beginning of the film is ultimately left unanswered) and the wavering look that the animation generally has really serves to accentuate that idea. I thought it was very visually disorienting, but then again it’s also touched upon in the film that we need to understand what the restrictions placed on ourselves are so that we can further the full realization of human potential... overall the big question is where we are and what we're doing, and this film was a wonderfully intense and enlightening exploration of that universal question, with ways of viewing the world most would never have thought of. As apparent from the scratches in the surface I've mentioned above, the choice of medium was an excellent one to convey this sort of message.
  18. You've already seen the rumors for the "sumer" sets. They've made it onto the first page, which, as you should know from the 2011 Rumors thread, means they're true. They're true! Troll and trueness ON: I'm sorry, but this is getting old. You ask repeatedly for new information and then go on about how you "must say" it isn't real whenever it comes along. Then you end all your posts with something along the lines of "dose any1 hav ny nfoon XXX cuz disnfosfeik" without even reading through the thread. Whenever you're not complaining about what we get you're spamming up the forums with what you want: I have never seen someone as desperate for new information on future LEGO Star Wars sets as you. Why is this so important to you? And if it's so important to you, why don't you read through the threads and look for new information yourself instead of asking everyone else? My god, the people we've been getting on this site lately... Troll and trueness OFF.
  19. Ah, forgot about that game changer. System isn't really a scale...
  20. Your question was already answered on the last page:
  21. MINI-land scale (1/20). You can see some excellent examples here. So how's the mechno-chair coming along?
  22. Well, the original issue arose from whether they are obscure in the film, my point with asking Darth Nihilus to name a scene where they are featured was that the pilots with the enclosed white helmets aren't ever prominently seen in any scenes, which is to say they don't get any screen time... they're in the film, of course I know that, but you never actually see them, therefore they are obscure... I should really have worded post #2729 better...
  23. First of all, going off the size of the pilot in the cockpit of the studio model, I would have to disagree with that initial statement; 6208 seems too small. 'Minifigure scale' is very broad and based more off of how the set 'looks' next to a minifigure, so it's probably easier to tell when a set isn't in 'minifigure scale'. It would be quite time-consuming to eyeball and compare references to every single set, so I'll just address your issue of an X-wing, Y-wing, and snowspeeder in minifigure scale... Among LEGO snowspeeders, 7130 is probably the size most appropriate for a minifigure; the 4500 clones all feel too big. Again looking at the cockpit, I think either 7658 or the upcoming 9495 could work for the Y-wing. For the X-wing, try this one.
  24. Good reading, terrible storyline.
