Kyle!!!! *shakes fist* How the fuck is it possible that you are always Scummy? I went after someone like this in the last game because they were assuming someone was Town or telling the truth about a role, the visitor role. I mean, for fuck's sake, is guessing at a role so strongly you believe it the new Town tell? It can't be because it's also a Scum tell, so stop making assumptions, people. And don't tell me I need to calm down. It's clearly anyone's fault but mine. That's a joke. Anyway, it looks like I was right that the three old-school players can't be buddies this time. We have to kill one of them. Or snap their fingers and they go to another dimension or whatever, who cares? Vote: Wesley Crusher (Pandora) Vote: Extend the day For all the reason I posted yesterday. I trust Forg and Riker and I would suggest everyone else should as well. Beverly went after Riker and I doubt he would take that risk on Day One, with Riker not showing up, that people might bandwagon onto that. That would be a massive WIFOM if Riker were Scum. This happened in the last game. The Scum tried to sway the vote onto Riker, but it ended up backfiring and basically confirming him as Town. And he wasn't even him yet when that happened! Forg, you'd be diabolically evil if you're Scum. Lynch me before Riker or Forg. I feel like if we keep them both alive, we'll find the other Scum. Why not me? While I know I'm Town, I also know that people will never. EVER. 100% trust me. To win, I think Forg and Riker are the most trustworthy up to this point. Picard and Data are both flying under the radar. It's more typical of Picard than Data, but it is not the most proactive-Townie behavior in a game where activity is all we have to work off of.
-
I think OMGUS applies if it's the only vote on the person. As you are the Scummiest player, this hardly registers as an OMGUS. Or even an OMUS.
-
I love a good play.
-
Is this an act?? The Scum get a night kill if we don't successfully lynch someone. Hi! You must be Riker...again.
-
But what would he have said if he wasn't Scum? The same thing, right? There are two sides to this coin. We have to look at how close we were to achieving a lynch and when we do this, it actually looks worse for Wesley. As I began typing, I was going to try to convince you that voting for Geordi was still the better way, but I've come to a troubling conclusion. If Wesley was Scum, he could try to steer the vote away from Beverly achieving two things: saving his Scum buddy (and mother) and achieving a night kill. Damn it. Wesley's really smart outside of being the most hated Star Trek character ever. And Genghis Khan was a character! That's saying a lot. But...and I'm forcing this but...if Wesley is Town, I think this is a logical thing to say as if he was successful in steering a vote to Picard and Beverly wasn't lynched and Picard did flip Town, he's exactly right, we'd all look at Beverly and Wesley as Scum buddies. Really, he's put himself in a terrible position for a Townie, no matter what. Jesus, am I going to un-vote and re-vote again??? Wait, I was trying to find the Wesley-Townie side of this coin...where was I? If he was taking the risk of trying to steer the Town away from what he honestly saw as a bad lynch, I do believe that is a Townie, and a very Wesley, thing to do: acknowledge the fact that it would make them seem like a pair and draw scrutiny. Lo and behold, his prediction was correct. Aha, this was my point. If Beverly was lynched and flipped Town and Wesley genuinely believed he was Town and is Town himself, then that risk would be worth saying what he said. There it is. A point. Finally. Ugh. Now I'm looking at it differently again. If there's one thing I know about Wesley is that she thinks me ego is my greatest motivator and weakness. She did vote for someone I was digging into as exhibiting odd behavior: Picard. Where is Picard? He's been quiet. Everyone's Scum! Case in point, though, my ego is now telling me that Wesley's vote could've been all about me. That's insane. I am an ego-maniac aren't I? I'm WIFOMing a metagame belief of how Wesley views me. Sounds like I should talk about this with my therapist. But, Forg, look at this Scummy voting position of Geordi: Beverly and Riker are tied. He tips the scales towards Riker and away from Beverly. Then, later, hammers Beverly. Imagine how much more Scummy this vote would've looked had he not come back to hammer Beverly. Ugh. I keep talking myself back and forth. Or hearting my way... Stalling the game? I'm just changing the order. If Wesley is Scum, we get to play the game for one more day. Fun! Are you suggesting, as Scum, I would...choose one Townie over the other...to what? Annoy you all? Well, actually, I might. It would be a good tactic to seem Townie to agonize over which Townie to lynch. Holy shit, am I Scum? I just talked myself into believing it's possible. This'll get spun into "Deanna and Beverly are scum buddies" but I don't care... This is sober Deanna, at least that. I'm actually not sure which is worse, at this point.
-
Fears assuaged. I should add a to make sure everyone knows that I'm still suspicious.
-
Here's the way I see it. Wesley was, in fact, not acting Scummy. His actions only seem Scummy because he appeared to be defending Beverly. Let's be clear, we got Beverly through dumb luck. We didn't understand her jokes and misinterpreted them as Scummy. But I had a Town read on Wesley yesterday and was hoping against hope that the three old-schoolers might be able to be buddies and win a game together. Yes, I play with my emotions still. I haven't–after all this time–learned not to do that yet. Really, the biggest Scum-tell for me in Wesley's game up to this point is that he doesn't suspect me. That is very Scummy of him. He always suspects me, every. time. But, that's metagaming. It was a Townie thing to do to vote his conscience and elaborate on why he thought the Beverly bandwagon was perhaps not the most logical. Unfortunate for him, if he is a Townie, as it painted a big red target on him, a target that would have to be a sommelier's dream of WIFOM. I have no idea on Wesley right now, he could be Scum playing a great game, but we've got Geordi falling over himself to be Scummy and I know, I know, this is the exact scenario from the last game. It was absolutely confounding when we voted him out and he turned Town. But, I just can't help logically looking at the things Geordi has said and keep my vote on Wesley. Geordi, you have repeatedly told us that you thought Riker was Town and you came to this conclusion before he actually posted anything. You believe it so much that, after just one post, you've counted him as the person you trust the most. How is that possible? You say you wanted to vote him out to...only lose a Townie that was going to be mod-killed anyway?? an assumption you still haven't been able to explain, and Beverly had the same frame of mind. Why would you want to vote out someone you were, without reason, convinced was Town without having any verification as to what was happen if he didn't show up? In a game with no Night Actions and only 8 people, why would you want to reduce our numbers by one? We need all the time we can get to interact and dissect what people are saying. Voting out someone you think is a Townie, is not a Townie action. It's Scummy. He's Town and he's not showing up anyway, people will bandwagon on that. Poking people who haven't responded yet is one thing, but trying to lynch someone who hasn't confirmed or shown up yet is taking advantage of that player's outside situation. Unvote: Wesley Crusher (Pandora) Vote: Geordi LaForge (KotZ) I trust Forg's reads, especially after watching his logic play out in Thack Desteck. I just think he could be wrong about Wesley's statement about people ganging up on him and Beverly after his post. I understand Wesley's explanation. If Geordi ends up flipping town, we can vote Wesley out tomorrow. Geordi's Actions are far Scummier today and yesterday. I haven't even hit "submit reply" yet and I'm already nervous that I'm making the wrong decision. There's plenty of time to un-vote if I ... let's be honest, freak out. Metagame alert: Both of these Day threads are disturbingly lacking in hyper-nonsense posts and memes... My suspicion of Data is skyrocketing.
-
That is not a normal idea. You just hosted a game where someone who didn't show up on the first day was the only Scum member.
-
I'm going to take a lesson from interacting with Kyle and not freak out about how Scummy this sounds. I realize from the first iteration of this game that we communicate and think very differently from one another. But, this really seems like you know Riker is Town. How does him just showing up assuage your fears? Oh, he showed up. He's Town. I realize your fears were that there wouldn't be a replacement, but where in the rules does it say Riker would've been killed if he didn't post yesterday. That's a huge jump in logic, unless I'm missing something. But now, you are counting Riker as Town. Why???? What has Riker done that you trust him? That's, again, bonkers.
-
Literally, one of the things that got Beverly lynched was voting to extend the day after it had been extended. Now here you are claiming you would've voted to extend it but, aw shucks, too late. We are saying the same thing about you yesterday. Emphasis added. This reads, even after reading it several times, like you know Riker is Town. Seems too obvious...and yet again, it's a random assignment, so... This does not scan, in my brain. You weren't a fan of voting for Beverly because you weren't sure if Riker would appear. But, you did vote for Beverly and that was before Riker showed up. So, what else happened that brought you over to Beverly-voting-fanaticism? What I also don't understand is what does Riker maybe not showing up, when you say you thought she was an inactive Townie without a replacement, have to do with the case against Beverly? This statement is pure bonkers. You're already on the chopping block and you're not really helping yourself out. Thanks for explaining the ratios for us again. What would we do without Geordi's math skills? What really bugs me about this last statement of yours is that you know no who is pursuing you and Wesley the hardest, it's me and Forg. So, are we Scum, you think? Is there anything you see now that would lead you to that conclusion except for the fact that we might be pressing suspicions against two potential Townies? What else would Townies do in this situation but detail their suspicions regarding the Scummitest players, of which you are definitely one?
-
Exactly. This makes sense. In a game where defending someone is a tell, a Townie has to take that risk to point out their feelings about someone else's flawed logic in their suspicions. You have to voice your concern, knowing that it may come off as suspicious, because we're doing our best to solve the game. Ugh...I love how this game makes me wrack my brain, even though there are no Actions to base anything off of. This is tough. I'm not sure how I feel about this. My gut is screaming that this is Town-Wesley. But if the day had been longer yesterday, I might've unvoted Beverly. Why do we play this game?
-
Oh, we can vote at any time, I see. Not sure what to do yet. I'm stuck between Geordi and Wesley. I agree with Forg that we can't know in this game and a lynch is pretty much an investigation. Enough has happened that we will suspect Wesley the whole time unless we do something. Geordi is the same. This makes me nervous because if we're wrong about both, the final Scum can sit back and relax for two days. It's six against one right now. We have the time to take care of our greatest suspicions and have enough numbers to find the last Scum if both are wrong. Vote: Wesley Crusher (Pandora) Vote: Extend the day
-
Forg blew his load early. We can't vote yet, right?
-
Yeah, about that... Right. So, this absolutely has to be considered now. You clearly posted that you did not think she had sided with Q. Side note: I don't think anybody has chosen to side with Q. He just snapped his finger and made two of us involuntarily Scum. Anyway... as Forg pointed out, why would you be concerned about being associated if Beverly if you thought she was Town? This is going to get scrutiny today, because we'd be stupid Townies not to look into it. I could see a Townie, and specifically you, thinking far enough ahead of how people react to things and getting the thoughts out there. I act similarly. And when you're a Townie, there's no reason not to put your thoughts out there because you have no reason to lie and you're trying to move the game along. Especially since we have nothing else to work off in this game. But! This could also be seen as Scum Perspective, forgetting that being associated with someone you believe is not Scum isn't a bad thing. And I'm going to pre-argue against my own point there by saying I also understand that when you defend somebody in this game, you expect scrutiny, and since you could only guess that Beverly might be Town, the actual case scenario you were laying out was people turning on both of you, regardless of your or Beverly's alignment, because you seemed to have defended her. So, no need to respond. I appear to have given you your own defense. It's been a long weekend and I'm still waking up here. Can I also say that I never caught the sarcasm or humor in Beverly's posts? Unfortunate for her that our senses of humor aren't in alignment or she may have gotten away with it. I was feeling pretty stupid when I read her response and if they day had had more time left in it, and I'd have been more sober, I may have tried to rally people to switch over to Kyle. I meant Worf, although I think I'll be calling him Forg from now on.
-
Am I still acting "Scummy as hell" Kyle? Oh, oops. Never mind. I forgot my name was Deanna and not Beverly. OK, so yes, Geordi hammered Beverly, which–outside of WIFOM–would seem like a Townie thing to do. But, reading over yesterday, I'm noticing Geordi and Beverly were both voting for Riker under the assumption that Riker would be "thrown out of the airlock" for not posting. But, how did they both independently come to this conclusion? This is not stated in the rules. The penalty for not posting in the day thread isn't spelled out in the rules. Beverly also chimed in that she originally was in line with Geordi's thinking that the day could only be extended once per game. If there's evidence of two people chatting outside of the game, it would be Beverly and Geordi. I know this would go against my entire hypothesis about the Scum trying to distance themselves from each other by discussing the rules in the day thread, but Beverly did agree with Geordi only after I had posted that and yet again, my theory wasn't a very strong theory, as we don't have very much to go off of. If Geordi is also Scum, he'd have to be banking on the idea that hammering his Scum buddy may save him for the rest of the game. I've had further thoughts on Picard's over-reaction to my post. I remember a past life where I killed her on Night One and she had contacted someone during the day and told them that if she died, she would suspect me of having done it. Which was accurate. But her reasoning was that I had mentioned a drunk lady in one of my posts and her title had the work drunk in it so she thought I might be indicating I was going to night-kill her by invoking her title. This makes zero sense as Scum would never randomly indicate in the day thread who they were going to kill. But this is how her paranoid mind works, so I'm much less worried about the over-reaction today, having remembered this previous incident.
-
Bam! One down, one to go. Awesome. I don't know a Star Trek. Who is Q? What's his motivation? Why does Bob still use Brickshelf? I'm glad I was drunk again too busy to react to the posts at the end of yesterday. Beverly and Wesley were both very convincing and I was starting to feel like I'd made a mistake with my vote, but that clearly is not the case. So, that's nice.
-
Am I a counselor? I don't know any Star Treks. Either way, I kind of assumed this was a joke, which is another reason it's weird that Beverly is calling it logical that Picard wouldn't be Scum just because he's Picard.
-
Here is why OMGUS votes are Scummy, though. How does suspecting of you of being Scum (which I actually wasn't. You and Worf both voiced disagreement with Kyle) make me Scum? Not to mention, my theory about Scum having the conversation in the Day thread vs. the writeboard didn't have to have occurred before I theorized about it. It doesn't mean that only the people had voiced opposition to Geordi's incorrect assumption were Scum. I admit as I hypothesized that the suspicion was super weak sauce. This is, at the very least, an over-reaction on your part.
-
Are we just giving the Scum a kill here? We have 7 hours to get it together and vote somebody out. Beverly, @mostlytechnic What was the intention of your intentionally bad logic. Were you trying to learn something about the rest of us? It's a very odd thing to say. I do remember the last time we had to play this game on this ship the people acting Scummy were actually Town. But that doesn't mean we should ignore Scummy behavior. Your statement is weird and then as Worf pointed out, the vote to extend the day also stood out as unnecessary and potentially a Scum CYA. Picard, @Kristel just a technical point, I thought OMGUS stood for "Oh my God, you suck." What is OMUS? "Oh my, you suck?" And I agree with Wesley that it was a bit of a stretch to feel that I was accusing you with what I had said. I thought you were accusing me of an OMGUS vote, but now I see you were considering placing an OMGUS vote, yourself. Which is typically Scummy, IMO. Data @Trekkie99 and Beverly, What is all this talk about the captain not being Scum or Q not pairing up a mother and son. That's ludicrous. The roles should be chosen at random and we should consider all possibilities.
-
Congratulations to you as well for being Scummy when you don't need to be in a game where there are no Actions. This is a bright red Scum beacon. Unvote: Geordi LaForge (Kotz) Vote: Whoever the fuck, put your god damn name in your sig (mostlytechnic)
-
Am I missing something? Did Geordi vote for me? Or are you mixing up Townies because you're Scum and all Townies look the same to you? Geordi voted for Wesley. It was an alarm clock vote. Geordi, Wesley's awake, now what? Picard, what the hell are you talking about?
-
*shakes fist* Mostlytechnic!!!
-
As promised, I'm drunk and, full disclosure, I've been drunk since 1pm. Dart league. Kyle Geordi has my gut instinct for his declaration of saving the day extension. Even if he thought it was once per game, what better day than the first to make that happen in a game where we won't see any night kills. And it's Kyle! I'm forever sworn to want to lynch Kyle! The whiskey and the metagaming say it must be so. And, I don't see any better suspect since the other votes were all alarm clocks. Stop that shit, people. It's bullshit. Fuck shit piss damn ass megablocks twat fuckface God damn. I can swear because I'm staff. Ha ha. But adding my vote to another vote that was to wake someone up who wasn't posting isn't a good strategy. Are you suggesting a good case among the current votes? Please divulge. Who should I move my vote to? Should I use my vote as a snooze button? Should I vote for myself for being laid back? Ok, a whole load of "what the fuck are you talking about?" for you, Picard. Just because you've been knighted doesn't mean we won't be suspecting you. How did I OMGUS? I voted for Kyle and it was...whoever Fugazi is...that voted for me so where's the OMGUS??? You voting for the person I voted for and then accusing me of OMGUS and not voting for me puts my suspicion squarely on you. I have to pee and make plans for the next bar and while I'm doing that I'll be considering the energy it will take to format an un-vote of Kyle and re-vote for Picard. And outside of the formatting, if that's the best move. But this point pings me hardcore, but it may be the whiskey. I have to throw again. Peace, bitches. Currently? Oh, you mean if @mostlytechnic tries his signature tactic of avoiding a lynch??? I'll have you all know that I threw a double bull and then a 2 and a 9, like a millimeter away from the bull. You all distracted me. Now I must kill you all. In a Townie way...
-
This is probably true. I'd imagine they're like: "What do we do?" "Don't act Scummy." "Yeah, good plan." Also, since they have no Actions to work with, I'd also imagine they're like: "One of us should vote for the other." "OK! Vote for me and I'll vote for you!" "No, no. I'll vote for you today, you vote for on Day Two. It might be too obvious if we just voted for each other right off the bat. But if we have votes for each other in the voting record, it will confuse people, since there's nothing else to work off of." Or: "Did you watch LEGO Masters? That Sam is a real ass hat." "Well, I live in Australia, so I watched our version, not your cheap US knockoff. My name is Kristel." Seriously, however, one thing we might be able to consider is that Geordi, perhaps, didn't have anyone to discuss the day extension vote. He seems isolated in thinking that it was once per game. If he had a writeboard Scum buddy, maybe they would have discussed voting and worked it out there that the extension sounded more like once per day than once per game. We might be able to work out that if he is Scum, he isn't working with Picard or Worf since they came in and shared that they disagreed with his view. This is super weak evidence of anything, though, albeit the only thing at all we could possibly have to work off of right now. While this might be an interesting tidbit, if I were Scum and saw my Scum buddy post that he thought the day extension was only once per game, I might chime in in the Day thread to share my opposing view, as opposed to saying it on the writeboard, for it to look like two people who could only communicate via the Day thread. Diving deeper into paranoia and away from Occam's Razor, it might even be a good ploy to appear there is no outside communication to have such a conversation in the Day thread. For now, since we must vote and I have a tendency to get busy/drunk and miss the end of the Day, I'll leave my vote on Kyle Geordi for now. Wait a second. Almighty @Bob How do lynches occur? Is it a majority or most votes? If it's majority, we seem to be trekking ( ) the path of spreading out the vote like @mostlytechnic just loves to play this game. In the last Star Trek game, the Scum got a night kill if there was no lynch. If it's most votes, this is less of a concern. But if it's majority, then the other conversation that might be occurring on the Scum writeboard could be: "Let's spread the votes out so that there's no lynch so we can kill that dastardly Hinckley. He's so smart. He'll definitely cause us to lose." "Yeah, he's amazing." "I know, right?" "Totally." "Hey wait, is it majority votes get a lynch or most votes?" "Not sure. Let's not ask because it might look Scummy." "Why would it look Scummy?" "I don't know. I'm just paranoid and I live in LA. Because I'm KotZ." The votes are all one per person right now. If there's scrutiny over a strategy to get a night kill, everyone who has voted so far is suspect. Except maybe the first vote...
-
Votes aren't alarm clocks! What would Scum be scheming in a game with no Actions? You're also laid back. What's not to be laid back about? Nobody can do anything and we can't be killed at night. Having not heard from roughly half of the crew, why is Geordie LaForge so eager to end the day? Why wouldn't we want as much time as possible to get reads on people, seeing as that's all we have. Vote: Geordie LaForge (KotZ) Vote: extend the day Why are we calling Kyle Geordie?
