  3. I agree. As much work as I put into the "dome" it looks like an afterthought. If I was to redo it for next year for our new theme () I would put eight towers in the center with railings and windows instead of just the dark green bumper pieces.
  4. Gravity.
  5. This MOC was for DaVinciPunk!, our collaborative display for Brickworld this year. It was basically Steampunk with gears. It probably belongs in Sci-Fi but I'd rather have an architecture discussion here. This creation was the City Gate and mill which masked our elevation which we achieved with some large blocks of foam. I forgot to get a really good shot of just the mill with all the pieces in place, but here it is in its final environment: And a video of the Power Functions Mill:
  6. For Brickworld this year, our collaborative display theme was DaVinciPunk! or Steampunk with gears. This building housed the motor for my mechanical City Hall. It may fit better in the Sci-Fi forum but considering the architecture, I'd rather discuss it in the Town Forum. The marketplace, being in Vetruvia, the world of DaVinci, is the market where Jesus and his disciples shopped for their last supper. The building on the left is the City Hall, which I posted in a separate topic. At the convention, I lowered the dome, because I thought it looked more accurate for the Mannerist style:
  7. DaVinciPunk!, our group layout for Brickworld this year, was Steampunk based but I prefer to keep the architecture stuff in the Town Forum. The concept was that the city of Vetruvia was populated with mechanical, gear-powered buildings. The pistons on the roof go up and down. The building behind is the Marketplace, which I'll post in a separate topic. Here's a quick video of the Power Functions pistons moving.
  8. Since our group layout this year at Brickworld, DaVinciPunk!, was more Steampunk based, this might be placed in the Sci-Fi Forum, but I'd rather leave the architecture in the Town Forum. Please excuse the sloppy photos, the building wouldn't fit in my shadow box. The monorail: In the display and at night: I'm sure there's better video of this MOC from our display, but here is the video I took at home while staging it. The monorail wasn't complete and my partner ended up gearing down the flying feature (and building a cool flying machine) but it gives you an idea of how much movement was in the creation. Thanks for checking it out. Comments and criticism welcome!
  9. Did I lie to Scum?
  10. My Brickworld 2013 Flickr set is still being updated but check it out in the meantime.
  11. This is The Airship Fluffy Puppy. Well...how else would it make it onto the harbor manifest? This was one of the MOCs I brought to Brickworld for 2013, our theme being DaVinciPunk! which is basically steampunk with gears. This was based off of an actual sketch of an oscillating cannon ship from DaVinci's sketch books. The dragon, pontoons and rotor were fabrications. That blatant battery box means that it does have Power Functions! The rotor and cannon turret actually rotate.
  12. I brought this MOC to Brickworld this year. Includes Power Functions and there's a video to prove it! Our concept was "DaVinciPunk" which is basically steampunk with gears. It is based on a couple of flying machines from the sketches from DaVinci's notebooks. I call it The Airship Sparrow.
  13. Congratulations on your Best Large Building win! Well deserved. That is a beautiful building!
  14. I agree with your assessment. I had a blast until the lynch became perpetually broken and the game started relying on the pills and random lynches. The mechanics got in the way of the game. The Scum and Serial Killer did a good job turning the tables on us, considering how the mechanics were set up and then they got screwed by random rules. This was an aggravating, frustrating, fun time. I think it would've been better balance without random lynches and if the God Pill didn't have such a strong effect on the votes. I think if the God Pill had other effects that would've been better or if it had disappeared when there were only a few people left, that would've avoided the game relying on the mechanics and coin flips.
  15. I disagree. Zepher, I wish you would've made the effects of the God Pill open before the game started.
  16. Ding ding ding! Thank you.
  17. I only gave two titles at drunken Brickworld activities this year, but I only remember one. I don't know if I changed my own with the current one "Doesn't look like Peter Gabriel." But, it could be from Cornelius Murdock. It rings a very very faint bell. Please explain it to me. I had one before it. Can't be bordered because TrumpetKing was worried that he was bordering me.
  18. Yay Silver.Smith! Nice meeting you.
  19. We didn't win. We'll kick VirtuaLUG's megablocks next year.
  20. The leaves were meant for the birch trees which were assembled, but remain barren...
  21. And CopMike and Foog too. DarkDragon, Prune Face, CorneliusMurdock, Cecilie, ace, Ecclesiastes, Quarryman, Vincent Kessels, getdamonkey, Scorpio and CopMike all collaborated on it.
  22. Display description: In a far off land, during a time before steam... there was a world that was turned by clockwork gears ... And in this world there is one hero that rules with a golden gear - Leonardo Da Vinici. With his incredible inventions he has created a mechanical Utopia called Vitruvia. The citizens of Vitruvia live in peace and spends their days following the scholarly pursuits and create ever more elaborate contraptions. But all is not well... for there are villains afoot. Jealous of the Vitruvian lifestyle, the evil Enlightened Knights seek to crush the Da Vinci's way of life, and create a city of their own... With their own Mechnical contraptions they march towards Vitruvia. Will the Vitruvians be able to stop them?
  23. We've been nominated for best group layout again!
  24. I'm on a MAC and can't save over a file. It crashes every time. If I try to open a file I saved at work and save it on my MAC, it crashes. Has this bug been reported anywhere? Anyone know what I can do to fix it?
