True... but i doubt license permits the amount of sets in a wave :P They could always do 5 30$ sets IF they wanted :P and I bet AFOLs would make sales go nuts :D
-
Yes you are right... parents will buy their kid exactly 1 uruk-hai army but we bought thousands..... now parents bought their kid exactly ONE Gandalf Arrives and we AFOLs bought exactly 1 if 1 at all.... so which one is a better option for LEGO? A set that is bought 1 per family/AFOL or a set that is bought 1 per family and a few to hundreds by AFOLs..... just look at helm's Deep MOC with thousands of Uruks out there.... Noone has thousands of Gandalf Arrives..... That is what we are arguing... kids will get 1 of a set mostly anyway.... and it doesnt matter if there is Gandalf Frodo or Lurt/uruk hai inside..... but we AFOLS would buy hundreds if its the latter... so that makes it logical from business profit stand point.... The only thing I bought more than once was uruk-hai Army..... and i bought 3x helm's Deep to keep 2 MISB (just like the Armies) now i nearly bought 2x Mines of Moria (for Boromir alone) and thats it.... I never seen anyone (except some LEGO investors) buy more than 1 Gandalf Arrives.

Yep a toy made after MOVIE with MASSIVE battles being its centerpiece and most intriguing parts (if we exclude Fellowship up to falls) should totally be focused on something else... LOTR is not Super heroes where you should get Superman all the time or Batman or the Avengers....
-
The change is made just so it can be changed.... nothing more.... the point is the same except PJ forcely pushed in another enemy with a name.... thats it.... As Deathleech explained it already in books Bolg had revenge motive aswell... so its simply adding to add.... Good luck with that.... my friend and I who read Hobbit (and LOTR) countless times went to see the 2nd movie and it is pretty much literally 100% changed.... its like another story of Bilbo happening simultaneously as the book. events happened... like a parody of Hobbit. Exactly.... Radagast shouldnt have been here either.... problem is PJ wanted to make a action movie when in truth there was very little action in it if we exclude the Battle of the five armies...... I have no idea why PJ could not make it like Fellowship... Guess his mind got infested with ''fame'' and he thinks he can do no wrong.
-
Not really since Bolg and Azog are mangled by PJ.... I still found no logical reason why we need both in a movie .... Why couldnt Azog just die in that battle and Bolg taking the screen.... its really dumb by PJ... useless changes all over!
-
Its ANY Ent you want it to be really... so it can very well be Treebeard. remember its LEGO :)
-
most likely usually it was allowed

Thanks for this wonderful demonstration of my idea of a 140$ set..... Add Grond and Siege Tower and those 9 figs and you have it :) and make in the back of wall on 1 side cantina for soldiers and on the other an armory with stairs.... simple beautiful set and you can moc from here if you wish and od that. Do you know how many pieces was used to build that?
-
haha no need Im beyond that :) I quite honestly dont care if its made or not.... But i know for sure id vote no if it was either that one or no Minas Tirith :) I think the best it would be if we get a 140$ Gates of Mians Tirith with Grond/siege tower/catapult and like 9 figs (Gandalf the white, pippin in Gondor armor, Faramir/Denethor, Gondor Soldier, Gondor Archer, Armored Troll, Gothmog, Orcs x2-3)
-
Well I stand by the words I said before about ''affording'' so i will not be unleashed sorry :P Yep pretty much.... Now I dont mind LEGO making a part of Minas Tirith as i explained twice before (Just the Gates + some wall or the courtyard + White Tower(and potentially Hall of Kings) ..... And i am also entirely for a Micro scale Minas Tirith which I bet would look cool and I would purchase multiple just to support it.... The problem is not with the scale down version the problem is it will not be in size with itself..... it will either be something that is cut in half or more (lvls wise) or its height vs length proporitions will be out of place.... To me that CUUSOO version looks like a Tower on a rocks with 1 wall..... that is not Minas Tirith to me despite some recognizable parts.... It feels like some architect went to Minas Tirith was inspired by it and went home and made a bad replica :) Its just how i feel.... That is also why I would prefer only gates + wall + grond/siege tower/catapult whatever set for 140 or even 200$ .... with like 9(140$)-14(200$) figs.... that would be satisfying to me already.

Not sure... probably because its the coolest and most beautiful City of men on screen and in Middle Earth at the time being..... The point is I am not against it being in a minifigure Scale.... but it has to be appropriate and by that I mean 7 levels and needs to be in size with itself if you know what i mean.... It cant have those little catapults (like on uruk hai army set or Helms deep) but it also cannot have trebuchets that are like those from that CUUSOO project (totally out of size) And i just dont see how you can make a proper Minas Tirith...... lets say that the deepening wall is appropriate size for LEGO Mians Tirith wall..... now multiply that by 6 to get to the Citadel then add around as much bricks as those 6 walls are in height to make The White Tower (according to book if i recall correctly the White Tower is as tall as 4,5-5 lvls of minas Tirith are) That is my main concern and wish.... that it looks in size with ITSELF, no need to look in proper size compared to Helm's Deep or whatever.... i want that if the 1st wall is 10 bricks tall that the Tower is 50 bricks tall not 15..... because thats lame to me. (example) And i also want that the City has as much lvls as it had on the Screen/book And I just dont see that happening and thats why im against that project or even anything close to it because it will not be in proportions with ITSELF. It will either be too big or the minifigs will look like giants against the CITY.... For example this is 10.000 better representation: You could deduct walls by a few bricks (height) and easily squish in 2 more lvls thanks to that without making it higher and then you nearly have it.....
-
For me anything smaller than THIS scale http://legogenre.com/upper-levels-of-minas-tirith/ is not a minas Tirith :) And such scale certainly needs ATLEAST 100k bricks :) and i am probably way off and its much more. And this is what I would love to see in LEGO set... sadly it will never happen cos we got a black tower already.... but this would be AMAZING....
-
That really depends..... it costs alot less to MOC Fell Beast than minas Tirith.... because a proper Minas Tirith will use 100k pieces if not more.... a proper feel beast will use probably around 150 tops. so whats easier?

NO ELF fought or shoot arrows with hoods ON their head.... period in any movie let it be LOTR or Hobbit.... so its not realistic movie fig but made up by TLG.... The elves just came with hoods on during battle all had hoods removed and fought either in helmet or without helmet(Haldir) and its the same with Hobbit.... I am yet to see a hooded Elf fighting an Orc in Hobbit or LOTR :)

Updated!

And where will you use your armybuilt nazguls if there is no Minas Tirith? Its like you would want to armybuild Uruk-hai without a set helm's Deep.... no need and uselesss.... granted you can still do it for fun but since I dont MOC I see no reason to armybuild something that can be fit nowhere :)
-
The criticism is there because people here CLAIM that LEGO only makes figs/stuff based on MOVIE MATERIAL.... And then they go and make a FIG that was NOWHERE seen wearing a hood... see the logic? So on 1 side we have members who claim that LEGO has rights to make stuff based on MOVIE (seen in movie) and on the other they defend hoods that were never seen wearing them while shooting arrows.... isnt that kinda two-faced ???
-
When did a 25$ set have 6 figs? 30$ I remember but 25? Or they might be weird and put only 4 figs :) or they might be even WEIRDER and put in Thraunduil representing the ELF ARMY LOL Now that would be funny as hell And no generic Dwarf but only Dain and instead give us another 2 gundabad orcs... id probably pis.s laughing :D
-
And which was that Tree fort with Thraunduil fighting inspired from? if the king was in the Army builder fighting Orcs then a Guard from his ''palace'' could escort them without any problems really :) so much for inspirations. As for the second part its possible... But a 60$ set = 6 figs tops I guess.... So if we all expect Bolg and Dain ironfoot that leaves 3-4 figs..... (wasnt Black Gate 60$?) so an Eagle cos i mean they kind Save the Day (together with Beorn but we got him and no Eagles) and that leaves 3 figs.... 1 will defo be an orc (because we cant have 5 good guys fighting Bolg) so that leaves 2 figs.... 1 is likely an armored Dwarf (or not) and thats tops 1 spot left It just makes little sense... but then again LEGO made little sense with LOTR and Hobbit overall so I wont be surprised with their weird decisions!
-
Look on the photos of Lake Town army.... a bunch of ''thugs'' and fishermen given weapons :) lake Town Guards are just like Tower Guards.... They dont really fight... they guard a place :)
-
I read the books a million times believe me.... Its just funny how some are backing up and saying TLG makes sets (so also figs) based on movie and yet there are things (like an Elf firing their bow with a hood on) that we NEVER saw in any movie(even LOTR).... on the other side you argue that armored elves have to come because based on book they were there as an army.... Kinda illogical dont you think? I wanted an armored Elf myself... but it is ILLOGICAL if you make an Elf ARMY BUILDER and not include 1 in.... why Would they make an armored one for 1 set if they had an amazing opportunity less than a year ago..... Dont you agree? Also Lake Town soldier will have to be some kind of militia in ragged clothes based on PJ Movie anyway.... a farmer kind of boy (fisherman) because Lake Town Guards are not fighting in the Battle they are Police of Lake Town....
-
When they fought they all only wore helmets.... Never hoods :) And that was again different movie really... I am set to see an Elf fighting with his hood on like it shows on a LEGO set.... :) not a movie character those are..... just like the set is not from a movie :) We can argue that elves men and dwarves were 1 army when they fought Saurons army.....They used synergy to defeat them like 1 army would....
-
Exactly... NO ELF wore a hood in Hobbit movie... atleast not on them.... The only Elves I remember wearing a hood were the Elves running away to Valinor from Rivendell and Elrond when he brought Aragon narsil and that was both in LOTR....
-
Who said they are not an army? themselves?
