As I expected... I hoped for 1 set to be revealed but I expected 0..... So thats it until what? SDCC :D I can sleep and not buy LEGO at all this year.... No Castle, No Pirates and most importantly no LOTR..... a poor year but a happy year for my wallet..... I can finally pick up Pirate Ship Ambush then this year

I doubt Superheroes theme would go ''Evergreen'' Its very limited despite so many Super Heroes out there (Avengers, Batman, Spiderman, etc) Now unless DC/Marvel plan to release A Super Hero movie every year from now on I can see Super Heroes go on breaks multiple times.... Also Super Hero sets are rather poor sellers in Europe (atleast compared to US) I keep seeing the same sets over and over everytime..... Yes you are right that TLG is not so much about calculating number of licenses.... But imagine if LEGO is stuck up without ANY license except Super Heroes..... I bet there would be some kind of Alarm going up..... Some people just dont buy yellow head sets and so on and on.... Next year is a poor year for pretty much everything except for The Avengers (I think they're coming next year or is it this year? i forgot! ) and Castle ended (again) or on a break.... no pirates.... so the only thing so far for next year is LEGO themes (City Friends etc.) with Marvel/DC and evergreen SW.....

Exactly... I just dont see anything that could replace LOTR/Hobbit in 2015 and since I heard License is acquired for the whole 2015 (possibly more???) they might very well (or already did) chose to bring 2 more waves (hopefully!) Granted I Woul love LEGO Jurassic park!!!!

Lego Hobbit Video Game Exclusive Minifigure Announced
Alcarin replied to mrfootball's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I love it..... why? Because I would never get it at retail so if it would be important for me Id have to pay secondary prices..... Thankfully its a lame figure of another Bilbo.... now i can pass on it without worrying that I am missing anything lol -
Well the question is what is so good from licensed stuff next year to ditch LOTR??? Is Superman and Batman or what it was duo movie coming 2015? I dont see anything else currently! And marvel/DC they already are producing.....

Yeah Minas Morgul would look good.... but the problem (again) is that it would have to be a 200$ Orthanc type of set minimum :P
-
I heard reports of it being sold in some shops in Denmark and possibly Netherlands!
-
looks decent.... problem remains quiver cannot be added I assume.
-
the only thing that interests me here are the new (colored) foilage parts....
-
Its done so that if any returns happen they are insta cleared down 50% off and sold asap! logical to me

Exactly this Deathleech.... It seems ''defenders'' of TLG logic are indeed cherry picking... When it suits their argument they pick License and when it contradicts the license logic they use TLG costs or whatever TLG facotr in it.... The most logical reason so far I had is the one where a guy says they wanted to please both kids and Adults.... but to me they massively failed if we exclude Orthanc and Helm's Deep..... Fellowship looks great so does uruk-hais but thats about it...
-
Yeah but both parties have $$$ in their minds and ofcourse pleasing customers and FANS ..... Seems they half-failed to me atleast but i am just one guy.... who knows if we get 3rd wave to make up for it :D

If LOTR ends a Gondor Soldier fig in that set would be far more exciting to probably 90%+ LOTR fans than Mouth ever will be :) I find no excitement in him neither in movies nor in the books I mean he is barely on what 2 pages? Or was it 3 lol
-
Thing is by such LOGIC as you explain license holders would push TLG to make amazing sets because that way it would make their license look good and they would also realize that target of LOTR is not 8-12 kids but 10-16 boyswho love armies big battles, action not Gandalf Arrives. Either way we go there is a loose end let it be License holders or TLG logic....1 part does not fit which ever way we discuss it. To me atleast. As we dont know the sales figures we can only speculate but I think TLG shot in the blank with their logic or their license holders meetings and either the holders or TLG made pretty poor market research for Hobbit/LOTR.

I really wish to see that Licenser who said Mouth of Sauron needs to appear before Gondor Soldiers (both need/needed new mold and print!) And if you think like it.... Army of the dead will likely NEVER feature again while we got (as Deathleech keeps exposing) Mordor orc in SAME PRINT for over 3 sets (or 4?) Would you say Licenser wanted Mordor orcs to look the same all the time? I just do not believe that license owned would go as far as to dictate figure/torso terms in sets.... Its weird and would take too much of their time and thinking....
-
Anyone sane would want to know what they will do with it.... But if protecting what is yours makes sales worse then whats the point? I am yet to see a license holder tell someone operating with License to make less cash especially if the original license owner has in the contract that he gets % from sales too.... Its counterproductive logic for anyone...
-
Well you missed the boat... either pay the premium or not have them is the only logical choice... OR get lucky and trade them... im paying premium now to finalize my Armies and I dont mind.... because i want them more than I could care...
-
I keep hearing this brick to build ratio... which is fine... that doesnt mean they cannot put more generic figs everywhere though right? The only thing I see is they dont want to.... Sadly they are building doom for LOTR with their own choices of sets and figures inside them. As for Gondor reason you provided thats just pure BS and you know it.... when do you think they will use Soldiers of the dead stuff again? next year? Thats just poor excuse and reasoning for such action.
-
As I said I DOUBT it includes that kind of stuff.... i seriously doubt that the licenser would tell LEGO I want you to do 7 sets than 4 ..... And it needs to have a Pirate Ship and they must cost XX, XY, YY, YZ, ZZ etc...
