  1. My next entry into the speeder category. For those that haven't seen my other entry, I'm working with a slightly limited selection of bricks as the main bulk of my collection is in storage at the moment. I have however, managed to lay my hands on a couple of additional sets to boost my options :)) May I present The Dark Lady Darth Zyren and her speeder bike ! Top View Side View Rear View Front View The lady herself. For those that need to know (or can't tell :) ), she uses the black princess hair from last years castle advent calender, Kimono girl face and imperial trooper body. Hope these pics are okay - never realised how hard it is to photograph black bricks AND retain any detail! Good luck everyone Kaitan
  2. I can see what you mean :) but he's supposed to look like this - Shistavanen Kaitan
  3. My entry for Eurobricks Character Rides Contest - For the Personal Vehicle category. Had a bit of trouble as most of my lego is in storage at the moment - I had one Endor battle set, one wampa cave set, my collectable minifigs and a few misc pieces to work with. Still quite pleased with the result! Decided to enter when I saw that it was the last chance to get hold of an EB stormie :) Please ignore the stand ! Presenting Bounty Hunter Sherik Var's Airspeeder - Front View Rear View Side view - love how his hair looks as if its blowing in the wind :) Top down-ish view :) Sherik Var himself - made from several collectable minifigs. I think he makes a passable Shistavanen - they are basically wolfmen anyway :) Hope you like it :) Kaitan
  4. Love it , but why are there all those naked people in the control room ? ;) Kaitan
  5. Okay, gotta crawl out of hibernation for this one :) Accuracy is an odd thing, because as many posts above have pointed out, we are trying to create a universe of recognisable objects using a relatively limited collection of bricks. My opinion is make it the best you can with the bricks you have - No MOC is EVER going to be perfect, it's impossible! And not everyone has the money to buy all the bricks they need. Certainly with my own MOCs, where I am attempting to recreate a scene be it Cloud City or the Tantive IV I sacrificed accuracy for ease of access for photography, or just practical reasons "I don't have a brick that shape, and Lego don't make one!" Following on from that, asking for criticism of your 'not perfect' MOC is always going to be a bit of a minefield! I think the important question to ask before giving criticism is "so it's not right, but what would I do to make it right?" - i.e. constructive criticism! Okay just my opinion, back in my box now :) Kaitan
  6. I'm assuming you are buying individual pieces and not sets. (as you don't mention sets) Not sure why you need to see pictures of the actual pieces. Brinklink shows examples of the type of piece you are buying, along with a description of it's condition (new, used etc) and a lot of buyers even add extra descriptions if there are other faults or details necessary. If they are false when you receive the piece, then you take it up with the seller and or bricklink. If you REALLY need to see the actual piece you are buying, stick to eBay... Kaitan
  7. Check out this link - an interview with his creator :) Captain Rex Creator Interview The model has actually been around for a while but its cool to see non official pics! Kaitan
  8. Wouldn't it be better to have the questions thread pinned? Far more newbie friendly ! For future consideration, if questions really do distract from MOCs and reviews, why not have separate sub-forums for MOCs and reviews and/or questions? We need to be careful that this forum is a fun place that new people feel they can make mistakes without twenty members jumping on them shouting "wrong thread! wrong thread!" Also there is a danger of becoming elitist, if some people's posts/topics are seen as more "post worthy" than others. Sorry, i know I don't post much, but I've seen this happen in other (lego and non lego) forums, and I don't want it to happen here... Kaitan
  9. I've checked at work, (I work in a bookshop in the UK) and the first ISBN doesn't exist on our system, the second does, but as a "mixed media publication" it doesn't specify hard or paperback cover. I think it would be strange to have a book of this type in paperback. I think amazon got a bit ahead of themselves and added a 'dummy' publication by mistake. I know that doesn't help people that have pre-ordered the first one. Hopefully amazon will transfer those orders over to the proper publication! Kaitan
  10. Very impressive! I love mocs that are faithful to the original yet add something extra too :) I've thought about doing this scene myself, but I don't think I could do any better! Great Job! Kaitan
  11. It's very easy to remove printing from lego - Brasso and a bit of elbow grease :) Kaitan
  12. That's brilliant! You have a real talent for detail. The only thing it needs, (in my opinion) and I hope you don't mind me saying - but if you added a large dish on the back (on the smaller dish) it would be perfect! Feel free to ignore me :) Well done! Kaitan
  13. I don't think you're going to get the effect you want using Hoth as a setting, for the reasons you've already stated. If however you are determined to do a ghost ben using pepper's illusion effect, why not change the location to Dagobah? Dark enough there! You might still need brighter lights than the power functions can supply, or at least another couple of them :) As a matter of interest, what are you using to reflect the image? Kaitan
  14. I've mentioned in the past I work in a book shop, and we've been waiting for ages for the DK LEGO Visual Dictionary to come back into stock. (It went into reprint very quickly after its first publication) Well, today it came back into stock and the exclusive Luke figure has now got pupil eyes! The original first edition had old dot eyes, so if you managed to get hold of a copy, you've got a real rare figure :) Just thought people would like to know. Kaitan
  15. It was a D.K. catalogue, the publishers of the brickmaster books/sets. Kaitan
  16. Yep thats the pic I mentioned a couple of pages back -wd for finding it! My scanner is broken so I couldn't get my catalogue scanned. I will add, however that underneath this picture in the catalogue, it does say "NOT FINAL DESIGN" so, as always with prelim pics it may not be what we are actually getting! Kaitan
  17. As I've mentioned before, I work in a bookshop, and today we got a catalogue in from D.K. Publishing. There was a small picture of the new Star Wars Brickmaster book. It had a picture of what looked like a cut down AT-TE, two clones (clone wars style) and ...KITT FISTO! The cover only said "contains two minifigures" So maybe we get Kitt and a clone, maybe Kitt is a decoy and we only get two clones :)) . It also mentioned the number of pieces, but I can't remember how many it was, maybe 140? I will attempt to borrow the catalogue tomorrow and get a scan so you can see for yourselves. Thought you might be interested! Kaitan
  18. Ohh nuts, beaten again! And I was going to kick for my first move too... :) Well done Magma, and thank you Jim Kaitan
  19. I'll duel anyone that's up for it :)
  20. Yup I agree totally. The use of the word 'scale' be it midi, mini or minifig implies an accuracy that just doesn't exist in lego. For example, if the new rumoured 'midi scale' Stardestroyer was going to be accurate and "in scale" with the midi falcon then it would be well over 2 - 3 metres long! So for "midi-scale" read "doesn't-fit-into-any-other-catagory-scale" Kaitan
  21. Kaita Serrian, unranked youngling will sign up (though she'll probably be squished in the first round...)
  22. Thanks Kim ! I just want to add my praise of this moc to everyone else's. I love it! The snowspeeder is fantastic, the landscaping, the details, everything is great! Vehicles aren't my forte (That's why I crashed thespeeder in my moc ),but seeing your speeder and Larry's I think I might have a go :) Kaitan
  23. I can adjudicate if you want Sorry scrap that, I didnt realise what the time was. Sorry!
