And, ironically, Voldemort (the slits of his snake-like are printed)

In the press release for Fantastic Beasts... it mentioned merchandising and everything, so fingers crossed! A LotR/Hobbit set up would be incredible, but I think they did a pretty good job at covering most of the sets from the HP series. Though the potential for a whole heap of new, mythical creatures is overwhelming!

What is Your Favorite Wave 2 LotR Set?
Almaras22 replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I spent quite a while deciding what set to vote for. In the end I settled on the Wizard Battle, as it is the best small boxed set I have ever bought and I think it packs a lot in and captures it's scene perfectly with so few pieces. But the Council of Elrond and two Battle at the Black gates are equal second for me, though the CoE wins against one BatBG as I really think you need two to complete the scene and do it justice, and unfortunately I am not a huge fan of the Pirate Ship Ambush, it may be my least favourite LOTR set. I have nothing against it, I enjoyed the build, but I prefer displaying locations and scenes and just having a ship sitting on a shelf doesn't feel as impressive to me - I'm not a big lover of vehicles and luckily for me there aren't a great deal of them in Middle Earth- 25 replies

I agree with the more Gondor over Rohirrim, but I would leave Aragorn in Gondor so that he can also be used for the coronation at the end, allows for more play features/scenes that can be re-enacted that way, but that Minas Tirith sounds fantastic and realistic! I would be quite satisfied if something like this was released. I think the blacksmith/armoury is essential, but rather than a pub I could see Lego going more for soldiers quarters, with some beds and a table or two with food and drink, or perhaps a throne room or Orthanc-esque trophy room?

I agree that Harry Potter is probably the best to compare LotR/Hobbit, but HP had eight movies and [unfortunately] the sets disappeared with the last movie. Granted, it had a bigger final wave as a send off I guess, so, imo, the best we can hope for is a larger LotR wave, possibly in 2015 to line up with the release of The Hobbit Bo5A dvd release, if we're lucky. But I sincerely hope I am proven wrong! As for Smaug, I don't think a mold would do his size justice (what's the biggest mold we've seen?), but I would be more than happy with a combined molded/brick built Smaug: Molded head and wings, with a brick built body to give him more substance and hopefully make him bigger! And that way, he wouldn't need a massive set around him for Lego to justify the price of the huge mold if they went for an entirely molded Smaug, the more of him that's brick built the more he can be his own set. But I wouldn't say no to a massive treasure room for him to go in, either

I would love a comic book store, provided it's done justice! Atm the only set that I am hanging out to see pictures of is the house, but if a comic book store is confirmed then the house may have to take second place!
-
A molded head could work, and with molded wings it could have the organic look many want while still maintaining the brick built size to set it apart from previous molded dragons that are, imo, just too small.

I would much prefer a brick built Smaug, as I just can't see Lego making a mold big enough to do Smaug justice. The Smaug I'm thinking of dwarfs the latest Castle dragon. And with the potential of a $100 brick built Smaug, I think he could be big enough to be able to smooth the edges more and move away from the bricky look. I was quite impressed with how Shelob finished, I don't find her overly bricky.

I think that things like Bart's treehouse, and possibly Homer's car, could be their own sets that can be added to the house. I know I would much rather see the treehouse seperately so that it is a decent size. I'm picturing the house like an old fashioned doll house: Squarish with a complete front and an open back, with the living room, staircase and kitchen downstairs, and Bart's, Lisa's and Homer and Marge's bedrooms upstairs.

^It's listed on shop@home, so I assume it would be in your Lego stores as well.

It would be incredible if Lego sold polybags online! Although not for my wallet :P Thank you for your offer - it's a perfect example of how online communicates such as this one can come together to help people out :-)
-
Legogal - I completely agree! I am in rural Australia and the only way I can get polybags is either as a promo from Lego shop@home or ebay. (Apart from the seasonal polys, the only ones I've seen for sale online.)
-
My favourites have to be the Seasonal sets (eagerly waiting for a peek at what the winter one might look like! Would love if it's compatible with my Winter Village scene), the previously mentioned Mirkwood Elf Guard (not entirely sure why, but I find it a charming little set, particularly with the dark green), and I would like to add the mini Hogwarts Express from the Harry Potter line - it was a great little build (my first polybag to have a seperate bag within for smaller parts) that, IMO, has captured the iconic red train perfectly :-) I must say, as exciting as it is to get a huge set and tip out the pieces for hours of building, it can't quite compare to the quiet achiever that is a well designed polybag!
-
^Four sets plus Orthanc Somewhat off-topic from the Hobbit (I'll wait until we get confirmation before giving it serious thought), is it odd that we haven't seen or heard anything in terms of LOTR polybags for this wave? When did they start popping up last year? Is it likely that we will get two more this year?

REVIEW: 71002 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11
Almaras22 replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Feel free to come and throw the mountain climbers away in my bin! Personally, I'm looking forward to the Elf and Gingerbread man the most, with the mountain climber and scarecrow coming in next, and I may be likely to pick up a yeti if I come across one.- 117 replies

Rather than City, I'd love to see a Winter Village calendar with little bits to expand the village. City does have bits that can be added, but I've no interest for a firefighter or the like. I just feel that a Winter Village Advent calendar could have so much potential and would be much more Christmas-y :-)

The Legend of Zelda Project finally reaches 10,000 supporters
Almaras22 replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Series 11 collectable minifigures has a Christmas elf with this hat/ear piece. Anyone else think that it may be an indication as to the potential outcome for the Zelda proposal? Sure the hat points forward instead of back, but I'd still take a set with this piece over no set any day! -
Does Lego normally upload the instructions for exclusives such as these? Would be interested in at least seeing it in more detail :-)

But compare that to possible exclusives suck as Erebor or Laketown and, in my eyes, there's no competition. I'd love to have a Roast Mutton scene, but I just can't see how it could be feasible, unless they are brick built - in which case it would make more sense to have them in their stone form as seen in TLotR (when Aragorn and the hobbits pass through in the extended edition).

A large laketown set with Smaug would be fantastic! I would love to see more elves too.

Review Review: 10237 The Tower of Orthanc
Almaras22 replied to Rufus's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'll second this! Tbh, accurate or not, I wouldn't want a Barad-Dur much bigger than Orthanc, I wouldn't have the space to display it! As long as it is recognisable with the eye, and matches in enough with Orthanc but is still distinct as its own tower, I would be very happy indeed :-) And to include a brick built fell beast, like the ent, would just be the icing on the cake!- 138 replies

I press the bit that sticks out behind the neck up until it's against the back of the head, then try and slide the hair piece on without letting go. It makes the cape a tad shorter, but seems to work against crumpling it
