Heroica RPG - Quest #27: Badger Badger Badger
Peppermint_M replied to Darkdragon's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Darn, oh well guys... Can you see a clock around here?" It wasn't highly important she thought, looking around the room. "If it wan't a bother Sir Favarious, you wouldn't know the time would you?" -

"Thank you very much." Tesni bowed again and turned to the others. "Alright gang, lets get back for that ship." Tesni took out the timer and checked how much time they had. -

Tesni bowed. "No harm no foul, we thank you for these items and I hope your shaman helps your future task. Might I ask what time the ship departs?" -

Tesni made her selection and noticed a familiar pink envelope. She smirked and signed her name. Free stuff was free stuff after all. It soon returned whence it came. -

Tesni examined the artifacts and made her selection with a smile. "That dragon bone armour would be very useful if you are willing to part with it." -
No problem and anytime! I just need to post my ambulance now!

Great build that I have been hearing so much about. Wish I was able to actually make decent buildings That ambulance turned out great too. Good luck in the contest

I might have to pull out the old marxist maxim Competition is a complicated thing, on one hand if there was no one to challenge your market share then you can easily become complacent. After all, if you are the only construction toy brand anyone who wants a construction toy has to buy your product so you can do what you like with quality and cost as you have the monopoly. On the other hand that would eventually drive people away from construction toys altogether but as long asyou can dance the fine line then profit will be phenomenal. Then we have the case of in the supermarket right now there are five brick based construction brands that a compatible with each other (UK example - Character, Kre-o, Mega Blocks, K,nex and LEGO) in my local toy shop there are 6 (generic brick brand at a knockdown price). In the case of the supermarket it is somethign of a moot point. LEGO has Star Wars and it's other lines, Kre-o is all Transformers. Character sell Doctor Who and D60, Mega Blocks sets are the Power Rangers and Halo lines. They are partitioned according to theme, with Doctor Who sets alongside action figures, Power Rangers sets with other Power Ranger products etc. The only real place I can say there is a true competition is between the Creator boxes and the Mage Blocks brick bucket. However this means LEGO has to compete their themes against popular media property. As such it comes down to both cost of the set and popularity of the theme. They are forced to remain a quality product for the edge it gives in customer choice: "Mum! Mum! Can I get the Transformer lego!" "That's not LEGO Joe, why don't you get this Ninja one instead?" While price factors can mean some customers are put off and go for the cheaper option, more often than not parents/grandparents recall with nostalgia their own LEGO and buy the actual brand safe in the knowledge that they still have their old bricks to add to the collection. The argument falls down if you want Halo or Doctor Who or whatever and of course the cost problem is why I first got and then became a defender of Clone Brands. As there are now a multitude of Bargain/Discount shops due to the extreme lack of extra money or money at all for many people these days. Only one of them has actual LEGO and they are selling it for £50 and none of it has shifted nor will it probably until Christmas (The Farm sets pack, expensive as a Saturday/school holiday treat. Great bargain gift for Christmas. It torments me, with its older discontinued sets and the pigs...) while the others have generic brands from China that sell pretty swiftly due to the reasonable price/brick ratio. Anyway, clone brands are here to stay. Some might fall and fail while others will find their niche but we will always find them. (eep, ranty. Sorry...)

Heroica RPG - Quest #27: Badger Badger Badger

Tesni sighed gustily and put a hand to her forehead, brushing back some hair that had escaped the ties. "That is certainly unfortunate sir. It had quite the... negative effect on our experience." She held her other arm out to stop Namyrra. Eric would walk off for the right gold but her itcy casting finger friend might not be as well behaved. "Now we are out of pocket on items, sore and still awaiting our promised items." -

"Well sir, you took the boxes and entered a lunatic state. You then summoned six creatures that attacked us. In a very narrow victory on out part we vanquished the brutal beasts only to find a troop of hooligans and thugs outside the room making demands. Frava gave them the boot but not after one gave you a good knock." Tesni left out the gems, it would certainly not do to lose them. "We were wondering if you could fill in any details on the boxes, our sponsor did send us to collect them but your actions have lost them to us." -

Tesni looked at the sick man. "I think we are better suited to offer it... We may be able to get information on what is going on and now the boxes are gone he has no threat for us. I hope." She whispered in reply. -

"Thank you for that madame. I am afraid that once he came upon the boxes Sir Favarious got rather excited and placed them in gems... He got more and more moonstruck and chanted odd words..." Tesni paused and gestured for Namyrra to fill in the magical bits. "It called up some tough monsters that we luckily managed to fight off. Once we had beaten back the summoned creatures we came out here to see a who's who of annoying faces from our journey." -

"Hello boys and... reptile? Man-Snake? Ninja mask-ed hissey bloke?... ah I digress... I would like to know what in the frozen depths of hel, the burning flmaes of hell and the cold dark embrace of hades is going on here? First we get attacked in the night, then we get sucker-punched by a namby in spectacles at the bank, then off to see if we can give a little help delivering a scroll tube to the named owner we get hauled into a fight for our lives with hellspawn BADGERS and walking rocks. Now a bunch of mugs walk in and expect us to walk off nicely with no clue as to why!" Tesni put a hand to each of her team-mates shoulder to stay any premature attack. "Now, three things: No you can't have the staff, you should have held onto it better and I have a backload of blades and a hefty chunk of steel as foundation to that. Second, in the noble cause of Heroica, how much are you willing to pay to get rid of us? Third: The more you explain about what in the afterlife is going on the less gold it will cost you for a quiet night." As she gave the ultimatum, Tesni found the box of minimizing dust from the bank job. Shrinking her enemies to Foe-in-my-pocket size would shut them up. It was looking like the entire quest was as much a set-up job as her encounter with Wren. -

Tesni pocketed the Ruby and placed the other gems with the group loot. "Yes, time to fingd out what is going on." She sheathed her sword with a metallic click and made her way to the door. -

Tesni handed the requested gems over and took a look at those left. "Well, Namyrra you are right a Diamond will be a nice balance to my darkness, Dryw needed a little extra. I already have a topaz... Mr Bocaj, would you like a gemstone for your troubles?" -

Tesni regarded the gems in her arms and then looked to their guide. "I'll hand these out first then we can go looking around the place. I don't want to walk into more trouble just yet." Holding the gems up to the light she smiled eagerly. "So lady and gentleman, what claim ye?" -
Oh Zepher!! Tesni must once more meet Wren on the field of battle!!! Tesni will just have to charm her way into a quest soon enough!
-
Fifty One Tales by Lord Dunsany. Something you should read if you have not already.
-
That is helpful, I have some upgrades to do on Tesni's gear after this quest and then she'll be ready

those seals! That is one very fine MOC there, I do like the chunky-ness of arctic vehicles. The landscaping is fantastic too, very clever SNOTing and I love the little broken off sections of ice-sheet. Thank you for deciding to post here in Action

And I do have the power to point out that you seem to be trolling. Do tread carefully.
