  1. Late notice, but isn't these two parts actually in LDD: 62821 and 61903 respectively?
  2. Great job on your first building there And intersting issue with the tooth gear. That's a major mistake in LDD (because do I understand correctly that the physcial drill piece has 24 teeth, not 25?) EDIT- just checked myself with the physcial pieces, it does indeed have 24 teeth.
  3. I went through the LDD Manager database for last release, and I couldn't find it in any previous LDD release. But I'll put in a request for it for the next release.
  4. I was able to position the black beam 32140 by rotating the 42003 CROSS BLOCK so it is perpendicular. Just select it with hinge tool and type in 180 degrees. The other two position errors I leave to someone else
  5. Ah, OK I see the error - the 32000 1x2 Brick with two Technic holes, forces the stack of 1x1 round bricks (exhaust pipe) to be out of system.
  6. I'm good to go on those dates. 10th of May is birthday too, so extra nice day. Will be there all days. Bringing at least one of my sons.
  7. Can you also tell some more about when and how this happened. Does it happen regularly?
  8. Ah, that old thing But now we have something much newer and nicer, namely the LDD Index
  9. I had an opportunity to visit the brick production factory in Billund a few years back, and regarding colors I remember two comments from the guide: "The fact that we are not using pre-colored granulates enables us to quickly switch colors in the machines." "Yes, I know we have problems with color matching at times, and we are working hard on it, but it has also to do with the fact that we don't want to be dependant one supplier of granulates/dies, so we can keep our hands open for finding the best price at all times." So I guess it's much an issues of production techniques and business (my conclusions): - They want to be able to quickly switch colors (less manual labor, shorter lead times, smaller batches) etc. - They can use one un-died granulate which they can then buy in bigger quantities - They switch between suppliers from time to time to get the best price
  10. White gasoline (chemically clean gasoline). Sold in small bottles, for example at chemists. Used to disolve adhesives etc. Does not affect plastic, does not leave greasy residue. Cheap. Used it for years without problems.
  11. A lovely set indeed. Thanks for the review
  12. That's how I understand it too. A materialID represents just that - a material - and a surface treatment is something different. However if this is true, I guess it's kind of strange that the materialID also can represent a color, like the black rubber in the tyres. Also, one thing that could play in is that the chroming of parts is not done at LEGO (at least used to), but at another company. So maybe because it's not done in-house, TLG never bothered to assign a materialID for it. But this is just my guess. Anyway, theoretically, to fully identify a parts composition and color, I guess four values should ideally be needed: 1) Core material (PC, ABS etc) 2) Core color (red, black, trans-clear etc) 3) optional - Surface treatment type (chromed, drum laquered, speckled etc) 4) optional - surface treatment color (silver, gold, copper)
  13. Good post Aanchir. I agree fully that people need to spend a bit more time to quality control their Official sets. And I know Calabar is quite strict on the format that the sets need to be posted in, so together you make a good team A brief tutorial would be helpful. I can write something short about LDD Managers key error control features, and maybe you can write something about the steps and resources to check your model? Maybe we need a simple 5-steps checklist before you upload a model? Something like Before you upload Check 1 Check 2 Check 3 Uploading Check 4 After you uploaded Check 5
  14. There is a feature in LDD Manager that allows you to find if a brick exists in LDD based on the BrickLink ID, and also in which cateogry in LDD you can find it.
  15. Strange - I don't have that problem. Has it alwasy been like that? Have you tried to do what it says - reinstall LDD? About multiple instances, I'm guessing they don't have that because it would be confusing to kids with a bunch of instances active.
  16. Wow, that's a massive post Aanchir. But thanks for helping keeping the quality up to a maximum. Everyone downloading these files in the future will be greatful to you (and to the LXF creator of course!!) Now, to all creators of official sets in LDD: There are some easy ways to make sure you get the right parts and the right colors, and that is to use LDD Manager. Import your model and it will spot the most obvious color errors. Also, if you use the "import parts from BrickLink" feature, you will be able to import all parts, and in the right colors (99% of the time), directly into LDD. No more guesswork.
  17. Looking forward to the continued review. I'm especially interested in the techniques they teach and the pedagogical aspects.
  18. Good job The bb486 item is actually in LDD and is called 92690 I'll let others comment the model itself and your other comments.
  19. I renamed this topic, since it's more and more becoming a topic for staircase templates
  20. SW 7962 in LDD EB member Giovanne has re-created the all new SW 7962 set with Anakin and Sebulbas pod racers in LDD. So why not take the opportunity to examine this new set in full 3D at the convinience of you home. Personally I just love his cute little brick built Watto. Download and comment here
  21. Love the way you brick built Watto The 3062b can't be placed because of a collision error in 32039. I'm sending TLG a notice about that. The 3020 2x4 plate is a bit trickier. I can't figure out why it's not working. The corner of the reddish brown 2x4 plate touches the lower of the two pod engine "wings". But is is an error in LDD or an illegal build? First I thought it was a geometry error in 30364, so I replaced with 44301, but that didn't solve it. But then I noticed the gap (see pic), and I'm wondering if it should be like that with physcial bricks?
  22. Good question. I don't think there is such a trick, but maybe someone else knows.
  23. Thank you. I thought so. Then I wonder what FuzzyLegoBricks is talking about?
  24. Can anyone confirm that it really takes so long time to get a DbM-model? Has anyone gotten a model quicker (like in weeks)?
  25. Woot? 4 months delivery time for a DbM model. That seems incredibly long
