  1. The Vikings theme is pretty good to help you complete your Rohirrim army. These 2 torsos may come in handy if you want to expand it: Also be careful when looking for the torso I posted earlier, the 2007 Fantasy Castle line used similar printings for some of the royal knights/soldiers. It's similar but it doesn't look as good (mostly because of the big crown on the belt): Hope this helps.
  2. Thanks for the review. I got this set last month. The minifigs are pretty good but I thought the vehicles were nothing special. I wish they didn't use two shades of blue for the Nova corps trooper though, it looks a little weird. I don't know why they did this since that's not how they look like in the movie...
  3. Nice, I especially like Denethor and Eowyn. If I can give you a piece of advice, use this torso for Hama (or any Rohan royal guard for that matter): It's from the Vikings theme. It works well with the Rohirrim soldier legs and is pretty similar to the armour they wear in the movies.
  4. I made a top 3 for each category if that's ok. DC Best: 1) Joker (76023) - finally! They just nailed it. 2) Joker (76013) - reminds me a lot of Nicholson's Joker 3) Riddler - pretty original take on the character Special mentions for Scuba Batman and Nolan Batman from 76023 Worst: 1) Man-bat - nothing special, could have easily made a custom of him 2) Batman (black and yellow) - I actually don't mind the figure but he appears in too many sets already 3) Plastic Man - meh Marvel Best: 1) Ronan - I don't care about the character but the minifig is really cool-looking. 2) Star-lord (76019) - really dig the mask/helmet, the black makes his outfit look less plain than the other version 3) Red Skull - the minifig itself is nothing special but I'm just glad they made him and he just looks great (kinda like Deadpool) Special mention for Rocket (polybag) - leg and arm printings are awesome and he looks better with that outfit Worst: 1) Groot - way too big, disappointing 2) Spider-man - gets really boring, I don't really like the bright comic colours 3) Magneto (76022) - the 1st version of the character looked way better
  5. Very few stores (even online) seem to carry the last Hobbit wave for some reason. Take a look at Bricklink, only a handful of stores sells sets from the 3rd wave, while those from the first two waves are still widely available.
  6. Yeah but we're back to what I said in my first post. If there is more than one wave, the other(s) will be about JP (if they got the JP license, as SMC said). I just don't think we'll see more of JW until the sequel comes out. PotC, LotR, The Hobbit and Indiana Jones all have more than one movie but none of those themes had more than 1 wave/film. The only real exception is Star Wars. I don't think it could become a new HP though. JP doesn't have the same appeal to kids nowadays. They still probably love dinosaurs but it's definitely not as big as HP was in 2001. LotR is 3 movies and 2 waves. Same with Toy Story I believe. Cars is 2 movies + a tv series. Also it's a pretty unusual theme without minifigs, they pretty much had to release a set for each character.
  7. There is... kinda.
  8. Come to think of it, Bain probably was the least interesting minifig in both the Hobbit and LotR themes. Very poor choice indeed.
  9. Yeah but that's why I said they'd probably release sets based on the previous movies if they ever make a second wave. The problem here is the name change, they can't release Jurassic World and Jurassic Park sets under a single theme like they did for Indiana Jones. They'll have to do the same thing they did for LotR and the Hobbit and create a second theme with its distinct wave(s). Obviously they'll focus on JW first and my guess is there won't be more than one wave based on the new movie. But what is a standard licensed theme then? The point is they didn't make more than 1 wave/movie for any movie theme (which usually means a maximum of 6 sets), the only exception so far being Star Wars... and that's because it pretty much is their flagship license.
  10. It's also pretty rare on the Web. Is this an exclusive or something? It's also ridiculously overpriced, I know it's freaking Smaug but come on... €140 on the LEGO shop is just insane. Ugh. Who on earth thought it would be a good idea? If you're going to pick an already existing character, choose one of the main ones, or at the very least a cool one. Well the good news is I'll be saving money.
  11. Yeah from what I've seen they barely qualified as building sets (kinda like their PoC theme). MB has made a lot of progress since then though, from what I heard they still have some (minor) QC issues but the sets seem to be much better.
  12. It's hard to say when you still haven't seen the movie or the sets but I doubt we'll get more than one wave for this movie. Nowadays TLG tends to be careful with licensed themes and only releases 1 wave/movie, even for popular stuff like The Avengers. If there is a second wave though, I imagine it will be based on the other movies in the franchise... but that also depends on the type of contract they signed. I thought they announced that a while ago. At some point it was unclear if these movies were going to be sequels or reboots but the idea of a new trilogy has always been around.
  13. Well, this isn't the first time TLG produces a different type of minifigs for a particular demographic. Just look at the Jack Stone, Technic, Scala and even Duplo figs. It's really nothing new and I don't think the traditional minifigs are an endangered species for now.
  14. I wouldn't be too worried for now. It took an awful lot of time before TLG announced the second wave. They still have to reveal their Jurassic World sets and I'm assuming they'll announce the 3rd TMNT wave around the same time (maybe at the New York Toy Fair?). They're probably done with the movie sets though. At the very most we might get a polybag but I doubt it.
  15. I recently bought: - 79011 Dol Guldur Ambush (Hobbit) - 79001 Escape from Mirkwood Spiders (Hobbit) - 79015 Witch-king Battle (Hobbit) - 79012 Mirkwood Elf Army (Hobbit) - 79005 The Wizard Battle (LOTR) - 75049 Snowspeeder (Star Wars) - 76019 Starblaster Showdown (GotG) - 79116 Big Rig Snow Getaway (TMNT) Still trying to catch up with the Hobbit and LOTR sets but there are so many of them in my wishlist...
  16. A lot of really nice creations, I honestly like them all and I wish I could vote for more than 2 entries but I don't make the rules, so here goes... Category A: #2 #4 Category B: #4 #5 Category C: #1 #6
  17. Nice! It looks like it will be one of the best CMF series, possibly even the best. I especially like the Egyptian guard, the goblin, the King, the evil wizard, the "ODST", the archeologist and the samurai girl.
  18. Looks like 6386 - Police Command Base. It's a pretty old set from the early Town era.
  19. I'm really surprised that TLG chose this idea (well both ideas actually, a LEGO bird is definitely not something I imagined a lot of people would get excited about), it's still a rather young show and I never thought they'd choose to make a set based on a sitcom. Unless the set contains a lot of interesting parts (which is a possibility) I don't think I'll buy it as I don't really have any interest for the show... but well I'm glad fans of the series will be getting a set based on it.
  20. Nowadays they're almost adding 1 princess/year on average. Man, the Disneyland parks are soon going to be pretty darn crowded with royalties.
  21. They already own most of them (Battleship, GI Joe, Transformers... they all belong to Hasbro). The only licences they got are D&D and Star Trek, which pretty much are cheaper versions of LEGO's Hobbit/LOTR and Star Wars themes.
  22. Interesting, now that makes me wonder if there was some kind of arrangement between the two companies or if the rights just went to the highest bidder. I just have the impression that Kre-o still lacks the experience to handle a licence like JP and that maybe they realised it. It would have been interesting to see how they were going to make the dinos though.
  23. How likely is it TLG bought the licence back from Kre-o? I think I remember they said another company got the rights to the JP/JW licence when they removed the JP set ideas from the CUUSOO site. Considering the licence for JP toys has historically always been owned by Kenner/Hasbro, I was also assuming they got the rights to produce construction toys as well now that they have their own LEGO clone brand.
  24. Bought 8 Series 12 CMFs. Got the Dino Tracker, 2 space miners, 3 swashbucklers ( ), the piggy guy and the gamer. I'm always pretty unlucky with blind bags, even though I kinda like them.
  25. If we do get JP sets, I guess it won't be before late 2015 - early 2016. TLG will most likely want to cash in on the new movie first, which is understandable. BTW I wonder if TLG will be allowed to create a model of the classic JP Jeep. I'm not sure how it works with those licences but I know Megabloks currently owns the Jeep licence, which might create some issues if TLG wants to make a set with the Jeep Wrangler. Also, fingers crossed for other vehicles from JP and TLW, as well as minifigs of Ian Malcolm, Alan Grant, Robert Muldoon & John Hammond (RIP Richard Attenborough ).
