  1. Hangover. Excellent! It's been a while since I watched such a good comedy and made me laugh. I'm getting married next year. Hmmm....
  2. Tough....really tough... All the entries were amazing, but the creations that I really like the most are "Gantry Signal Box" by Nexus7 and Kris Kelvin's "Train Station". So, my vote goes to....well... I'll flip it... Kris Kelvin's "Train Station". Great job guys! Congratulations to all the participants.
  3. Great anniversary topic Holodoc. I can still remember those days. Here in Greece it was the #1 topic in all the media. Although being a 10-year old, I was watching all the events before and after the wall fell. I'm a history and politics nutter you see.... Even my favorite album, U2's "Achtung Baby", brings me memories from that era. I was recently reading a series of books about the last 50 years history and events in Europe and the chapter about the Unification, especially the events before thar were thrilling. Have a great celebration day!!
  4. The more I look at the pictures the more I drool. The details are excellent and in no way this vessel has this "not-so-Lego" feeling that Brickbeard's Bounty had--at least for me.
  5. For the very first nanoseconds I had a small heart-attack! This ship is absolutely great and beautiful! At last, a big vessel for the other side! Thanks Bonaparte! A must buy!
  6. The only time that history was written by the defeated was during the siege and the fall of Constantinople. The good-evil side was the other way around. Great, excellent topic btw.

    City 2010

I'm not too excited about the new sets (the truck from the fire helicopter set.... ) but I must say that some of them are a must buy for me. Let's just hope that the planes' wheels will have some kind of retraction feature.
  8. 7641 City Corner. Haven't opened it yet but as far as I can tell from the box it looks great! P.S @ Peppermint_M I've just noticed the last phrase in you signature and it really made me smile.
  9. Very nice review TheBrickster. You 're lucky you own a part of LEGO history. The term "Modular Set" is not as recent as the majority thinks . The hull's idea is just excellent, considering the release year. You could arrange the parts -in a limited scale of course- and build the type of ship you wanted. I own the 4005 Tugboat and the 4015 Freighter, both of them using the same hull type and I had never experienced any sort of Titanic symptoms.
  10. Listen to this, it will probably make your day - worked for me at least. P.S Excellent song booger540!
  11. Couldn't agree more. The truck is detailed to the bone chassis but the price seemed a bit steep (€45). The 7747 Wind Turbine Transport was also on the shelf there. Must resist...must resist...must resist...
  12. Just bought the 7686 Helicopter Transporter (hey, it's General Armendariz in there!) and the 6240 Kraken Attackin'.
  13. Ah, yes. Blue and yellow are indeed a very nice combination when combined together. Next stop: Stockholm. Great work TheBrickster. P.S Are the wheels placed like that on purpose?
  14. Hmmm... The Fire Station's shape looks a bit familiar somehow. 10197's ancestor?
  15. Happy birthday Kalomeros! (free translation of Bonaparte in greek. ) Best wishes and have a great day! ....oh, and it's Brayden on the cake.
  16. Thanks for the useful feedback and the link WF. I was too lazy to do my own search I guess...I had just returned from the beach. My dark ages began around '94 that's why I didn't have a clue about that headpiece.
  17. Very nice review WhiteFang! I must agree on the points you gave it. The vehicle is not beautiful and is very simply built ( not in a good-Classic-Town-simplicity way ). The minifig's torso on the other hand is very vey nice! Btw, -and forgive my question if sounds off- about the minifig's face, classic smily face with more thick lines and eyebrows??? Am I missing something here? Thanks again for the wonderful review!
  18. Thanks Panda9001100 for these wonderful pictures! Well, this is my all-time favorite train! (...and one of the all-time favorite Lego sets in general.) The colours, the shape, the minifigs, ( I'm having a deja vu right now, I think I have re-written those in the past ) the overall feeling that this set leaves is truly great! As far as I can recall, it was the first modern looking train TLG had ever released and I was really impressed when I was a child. Unfortunately, it was out of stock when I made the effort of purchasing it and I ended up with the 7735. I think I'll give it one more try. Thanks again Mr Trainer. EDIT: Found the deja vu reason. For a moment, I thought I was losing it .
  19. Excellent post Joey Lock! Those memories... (Look what you've done. I feel old now... )
  20. Memories from the past... It was around 1992, I was in one of my cousins house who was also a LEGO maniac and a Space theme fan and I started building a replica of the TIE Fighter from Star Wars. I had just watched the first movie and I was influenced. The rest is history...
  21. Excellent topic KD! Since the "ships" subthemes in general are my personal favorites all I can say is that I think that they play a very important role in the Town-City theme. I don't own the 6542 (the #1 in my wish buy list) but I own the 6541 Intercoastal Seaport (in fact, I'm on my way of reviewing it for the Reviewer's Academy) and I think that this is the "grandfather" of the new harbor due to the crane design, number of vehicles and colour of the ship. (ok, the last comment is a little off...) I will definitely go for the 1991 sets. Why? Let's see... 1. The ships are brick-built. The ultimate advantage. 2. The trucks have a trailer. The majority of vehicles transporting containers are like that today. My job involves Logistics and I know. 3. The dock in the 1991 sets are the best for building a harbor. 4. Particurarly when it comes to 6542, it has more minifigs, more containers, an extra forklift and an extra boat. But... If we want to be honest, the crane from the 2007 harbor is excellent. The design is really eye-capturing and it also has two movement mechanisms. One for the string to go up and down and one for the top part of the crane to "lean" back and forth. The big disadvantages for the 2007 harbor are the truck and the ship's hull. The truck can only carry one container and the hull, although that it is big-and that is good, is like some cheap plastic ship toys for the kids to play in the sea. I'm not totally against the one piece hull, in fact the hulls from the 1987 sets (Click here to check them) were excellent. I own the 4010 and 4020. Solid plastic, heavier and had the feeling of a LEGO good quality hulls, something that the new ship lacks. (Richie's "tupperware" comment was more that correct.) If the new ship was in the same 1987 philosophy when it comes to the hull, things would have been different for me. The hull from the Coast Guard set is better when it comes to the general impression that leaves. I could write much more details concerning the two eras but overall, 1991 sets are better for me.
  22. This is indeed a very difficult situation to deal with. I don't own any of the Modular Buildings (yet -I think... ) and the reason is exactly this one. Although that they look great I still think that they will not blend well with my Classic Town sets and my newer sets that are close to classic size. A good solution in my opinion is to start a row of buldings with the modulars, then move on with Creator houses like the 4954 which is something in the middle when it comes to size and finally add a building like the latest Police Headquarters. From there, adding Classic Town buildings is easier. In that way, the height difference won't be too noticeable and the layout will be more balanced to the eye. I've also found a very interesting section in the 10184 Town Plan review and how it blends with the Modular Buildings. Check it here. Again, take into consideration that I don't own any of the Modulars and these are just simple thoughts of what I have in mind.
  23. That is one beautiful city that's forming there ACCURATEin! I really like the way you 've used both official sets and MOCs together. The majority of the buildings are very great! Btw, about the first house -which is very beautiful- that shows up in the first post, is it built on an ancient ruins section? Man, what money can do these days... Keep up the expansion!
  24. I think I'm now ready to join the Academy. I would like to review some sets -mostly classic- and advices from the experts would have been most useful. Thanks in advance!
  25. Excellent set! The snowman, the jester box, the classic trees, the christmas tree , the toys. Is there something that it's not beautiful? The design of the toy shop really gives the feeling of a traditional shop. Just look at the vitrines! The whole set definitely has that christmas holidays feeling-spirit. A must buy for the upcoming winter! P.S About the light brick, I too think that it's going to be placed inside the shop just like Darth_Legois mentioned. Maybe behind the upper big left window. O Elato, o Elato, m'aresees pos m'aresees! (Sing it in the tune of "Oh Christmas Tree").
