Buying LEGO from other countries on-line stores
MicroM replied to Siegfried's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I ordered 2 x Helm's Deep + 1 x Weathertop. I applied that 15% off coupon - which applied to only 1 of the Helm's Deep. Shipping was about $24. Good luck if you've got the items at this price. -

I just got screwed over by BN with this latest stunt of theirs. I'm actually getting very frustrated - Brisbane (QLD) Myers wont release LOTR LEGO and now BN pull this crud after I thought I'd scooped up a good deal. -

You did better than me up there. The 25% of Helm's Deep would not process for me - looks like when they say not on specials the system sorts it out. You got well lucky. I did notice the minifigures are a good deal - as I got 25% off them as well as the reduction for Buy 2 for $12 - Seems it processes 25% off the $4.99 price, then gives a reduction at the end of $2.97 (which is the 3 for $12 deal). Again though maybe I just got lucky, seems all a bit random. -

It was $399 - plus $55 or so in delivery. I did snag one, as I couldn't believe the price when it listed. I even got some email from LEGO saying they'd honor the price - which I found funny, given they had no re-course as the transaction had been completed. I wonder if that LEGO Internet employee is still held somewhere in the bowels of LEGO -

I assume you mean the Mini-figure version. I'm surprised they'll offer this up at retail again. Seem to recall Kmart having a few of these around warming shelves a few years back. -

Maybe we should all chill out about the 2012 sets. Its still DECEMBER 2011 afterall. I'm sure they will show up in good time. And if you can't wait, order from overseas - looks like pricing will be much better anyway. Merry Christmas -

Just to let you know there is an accompanying apology letter in the envelope from LEGO: "Hi there LEGO Club Member We're sorry that we couldn't send you the 2012 LEGO Catalogue with the December issue of LEGO Club Magazine......" It even comes in a smaller envelope with "Special Delivery" blazed across the front. -

They are offering 15% offif you use a David Jones store credit card. I'm tempted, but worn if I hold out, they always have a 20/25% in December. -

I've been lucky enough to get the CC and the GE from DJ's at 25% off. But you've got to go day 1 of their traditional lead into Christmas toy sale, which invariably has a solid discount on LEGO. I'm super excited to get the Pet shop and with a 20-25% off the retail DJs price will end up about what it seems to go for on Bricklink once you factor shipping in - so Aussie retail ain't always bad !!!! -

Maybe they have, just seems a little extreme. Will be interesting to see how long these hang around. I don't recall BigW having an aggressive discounting policy once items are stale. This one might be different. Good luck to those hunting out there on Thursday - though it sounds like most of us just buy on line these days. Thanks for the tip Gerry Harvey - you're right, there's heaps to be saved by buying OS. -

So let's get this straight - BigW are charging full RRP, thus maximizing their profit. They are destroying the boxes with tape and wire security (is large Lego box theft a real concern/risk?) This is a pretty poor effort by them all round. Though part of me is glad they aren't being generous, at least I won't waste my money on an additional Shuttle. Thanks for the heads up Clone-Trooper - I won't waste my time on Thursday. -

I suppose we should be glad that Target are taking 20% off at all. Not like BigW with their "Hot Buy" garbage on the UCS Shuttle, they really should be ashamed of themselves over that kind of advertising. At least they could have called it "Everyday" pricing. The Diagon Alley at $225 is probably a good buy, but that's only relative to LEGO's pricing, $225 is a lot of cash for some parent to shell out on so eyhing to keep the kids occupied - as the Target rep says. -

Yes, but good luck if they ever deliver it. I just had to cancel a DS Black order (which I'd got for under $40), but after endless email updates delaying the shipping date I decided to cancel the order. They are hopeless fishpond. Keep on annoying customers with stock you never intend to get in !!!! -

For those using the Myer One deal ($20 discount when you spend $75) make sure you take your voucher with you. My store didn't have spares they could scan, and said that each voucher was specific to the customer. Was tedious as I had to leave $300 worth of stock there !!!! -
Great review. Thanks for all the detailed shots - I just sat there for 5 minutes scrolling through and studying the detail. This looks like a great kit to pick up, I just hope its not a TrU exclusive (they can be hard to get here in Aus). Thanks again for taking the time, and I look forward to further reviews.

My local Target (Carindale, Brisbane) had the smaller Ninjango sets on stock tonight. After picking up a Cole, Zane, Chopov and Krazi along with a starter kit I thought I should check pricing. The individual packs are $16, while the starter kit is $29. I was shocked, so left them all there apart from the starter kit, which i thought might be good fun on Christmas day. Also, anyone in Brisbane hunting a Grand Emporium, DJ's Carindale had a few in stock, and the Myer at the same complex also had at least 3 Imperial Flagships (tempting with that B2G1F offer). -

I really wouldn't be too shocked to see this more than 50% off their RRP at the aforementioned department stores - you're spot on they are overstocked to the hilt, and no one is buying them. Even though I own one, a second one at something like $130 would be great for parts. I wonder what next year's modular building will be, perhaps a Police station or Health Club or an Office building ??? -

Maybe you should have posted this over at nanobricks.com. They have a really neat site, where they list all the cool nanobrick kits and discuss things like the upcoming PoTC nano line and not to mention their number one seller Star Wars Nano. Keep on Nanoing !!!! -

Thanks to darkhorse & Clone-Trooper for the TrU 20% off heads up. Managed to grab a Public Transport at a decent price (well, best us Aussies can expect). -

Selected David Jones stores are having a pre Christmas event till 9pm tonight (Wed 24th). 25% off full priced toys, so I snagged a Grand Emporium for $187. Have to use a DJ's store card though. -

Great news LEGO. I'm really excited for this line, it seems like a perfect License to enter. TLC has a great history of Pirates now combining with PoTC they really should be able nail it. I'd actually really love them to do a UCS style kit or 2, Cap'n Jack's Black Pearl in the same scale as the Imperial Flagship would be great. Bring on Spring (autumn for us Southern hemisphere folk) 2011!! -

I received a David Jones Christmas catalogue in the mail last night. No sales to mention, but they did have the "Grand Emporium" listed for $250. But they did also have an icon that it was available "on-line".I haven't checked their online offering, and not sure on postage, but surely a cheaper option than Lego's shipping charges. -

I'm pretty sure you are buying from fishpond, but it seems they source the stock once you buy the item. Its fair to say most I've bought through them has had a serious delay over the "advertised" delivery time. And I do think on certain instances they don't end up getting the item (which I assume means they couldn't get it). They used to charge you up front and then issue store credits if the items didn't come in, but my last series of orders they only charged once the goods were delivered, and that is clearly stated as their policy. Basically they offer some good prices on selected items from time to time, but be prepared for delays and also be prepared for the packaging to be on the cheap side (although I have had some good experiences where they've really packed the items very well).
