  1. Very well done. There was a lot of clones, you did well to amass so many before the BP's came out.
  2. I'm in Brisbane, decided to some last minute drifting at the shops last night. Went to Carindale and checked out most shops (except Target) and they were pretty bear, except for SW stuff. I suppose that shows that either kids arent into the new line, or it's too expensive. I have just been on holidays and finally got around to reading "The Return of the King" from the LotR trilogy (I read the first two books on my summer holiday last year). So I was quite in the fantasy mode when I got home and spent some time checking out the Castle line at K-Mart. My local had a good selection, so I went all out and bought the Mine, Troll ship, Siege Tower, Troll attack wagon, Mine defender and that little wizard kit (apologies if I got those names a little off). I haven't bought outside the SW line for quite some time, but this stuff looked really good, and good value compared with the SW range. I actually spent some time looking at the excellent reviews of the sets on this site before I took the plunge. I'm thinking that might now be my Christmas day's entertainment - building these kits. Do you think it's acceptable to wrap them and put them with the kids toys that come from Santa (we keep the kids stockings away from the tree) and just put my name on it....a Christmas miracle !! (don't think my wife will buy that). Anyway this is a little off topic for this thread, but I did want to mention most places (except for DJ's) were pretty bear. Though Toyworld had like 20 Republic Gunships, and I can remember with the first Gunship back in 2002 that Toyworld offloaded them for $50, wonder if they might have some post Christmas sell off of these ???
  3. I really like the line up in 2008. The Clone Wars kits are really good. The Gunship is a kit we all wanted re-done, and LEGO did a great job with it. Every kit I have bought I have really enjoyed building. The kits all seem to have quite neat little functions, like the V-19's wings, Death Star's various rooms, even the HSD (after I built one of those I went out and got 2 more - it was just a good looking kit). The Clonetrooper minifigs are really good. I dont mind the cartoony faces, and now that I'm watching the TV series (its finally on in Australia) I have got even more into the line. I think I've got to get The Twilight now. The Death Star is an awesome kit, I would never have thought LEGO would have done something like that, with so many minifigs. The battle packs with Stormies and Rebel Troopers were great. It has been a year of change with LEGO now having a new line, Clone Wars, to focus on and that's what has made this year feel different. But I am embracing the cartoon series and I actually enjoy it, and I think the LEGO has been done really well. And probably one other measure of how good I've thought the year is......how much poorer am I ? and the answer is a fair bit.
  4. Hello All Have been viewing these boards for some time, so was well overdue to start contributing. I grew up in the 80's, and was lucky enough to have a great LEGO collection as a kid. Mainly Classic Space, but also had plenty of town and little castle. Got back into LEGO with the SW line in 1999, but didn't really take off until I got my first Stormtrooper and was just amazed at the quality. I live in Brisbane, Australia, and with a 5 month old boy, my collection is more or less now packed away (I wonder what my son will one day think when he sees it all packed away). Looking forward to joining this community.
