Hi Alex, Probably not interested in parting out pieces, but I am trying to sell sets to avoid having to sell EVERYTHING :/ Right now I have these 3 sets up on bricklink: That's an 8043, 8421, and 8110 with aftermarket tyres- I was hoping just selling these 3 sets would get me close to my goal, while keeping the majority of my lego collection... I am starting to get a little desperate though, I may PM some members to see if they're still interested in buying the collection :/

I hadn't thought of postage... that would be obnoxious hahaha, thank you, I'll probably cross off selling on bricklink! USA, but I have shipped worldwide in the past. 2 X 8110 2 X 9398 1 X 8043 1 X 42006 2 X 9391 2 X 9390 That's just what I've bought of the most recent series. I would not really want to, but I will happily check the PM regardless :)

I wish I knew, I'm sacrificing this stuff to get a few more pieces of equipment for my business, I'm hoping it will allow me to pay everything back in a couple years and get a collection going again, but in the meantime I need the money :( I would love to get ~$1K USD for the collection, but that is around $.05 per piece with my conservative estimate on parts, and I'm not sure that is realistic for a bulk lot... In reality there are probably much closer to 30,000 pieces, but I don't want to have to count everything to find out. Anyway, I have no idea how realistic my estimate is which is why I added the question in my post. It truly is bittersweet, it would allow me to get some much needed parts for my business, which would mean in 1-2 years time I could purchase MANY MANY more lego then my current budget allows, but it would be sad in the meantime. That is true, at first I didn't want to deal with building each model, but with my lego organized as they are it may be fairly easy to rebuild them. Thank you all for the input so far! Thank you for the input! I do no, I have an 8421 Mobile crane that is fully assembled and not featured in the sale. It's one of my favorite sets so it would take a lot to separate myself from that one. Between the pneumatic DC and the RC motor it is a fairly desirable set that I can't imagine will be easy to replace if I sold.

I have a fairly good sized technic collection (extremely conservatively 20,000+ pieces) that I need to sell. I was wondering what the best way to go about selling them would be. I have thought of: Ebay Pro: Could probably sell quickly Con: dealing with ebay, probably the lowest profit Bricklink Pro: best value Con: would take longest to get money Craigslist/forum ads Pro: decent return in value Con: hit and miss as to if I could find a sale. I would like to attempt to sell it all at once if possible, but I have no idea on how to put a value on something like this. The other thing I've thought of is piecing out some of the larger sets I own (2x Unimog, 2x 4x4 crawler, motorized excavator) and then trying to sell what is leftover. Here's a peek of what I have: And many many more detailed pictures here: http://imgur.com/a/UkzK9 Most of everything is modern (within 2 years) but I do have quite a bit from my childhood. However many of those pieces have been lost through the years so the only sets I can confirm 100% are the modern acquisitions. I know this is not what this forum is for, but I thought everyone here would be a bit more knowledgeable on how to deal with technic blocks.

I thought bricklink had an option to price out an inventory for models but I can't seem to find it... In other words- If you want to build a model from scratch you could search a model and it would find all the pieces from different stores and show the cost of buying all the pieces to build the model. Does such a thing exist or have I gone insane? Thanks you!

First, I'm sorry if this has been done before. I've been working on this idea for a little, independent suspension offers great ground clearance and wonderful high speed performance, but lacks considerably in high articulation. Solid axle of course offers the opposite, so I started thinking of a way to combine them both into one unit. Being that the idea of the axle was to have the best of both worlds I thought a differential lock was important, but the addition makes the assembly VERY wide. I started going a little overboard since all I was trying to do was build a working prototype, but I wanted to start on a chassis: I integrated sariel's 2 speed HD gearbox to add to the dual usage theme. Random shot I suppose: Still a lot to figure out: steering, mounting the necessary multiple springs, reinforcing the independent arms, plumbing for the pneumatics for the diff locks... Here is a mockup of the springs: But before going to far I was wondering what kind of input you guys could offer. Thanks!

Fastest Lego RC Ever?
Dreadredbeard replied to 1nxtmonster's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This thread made me ask the same question, then I went on bricklink and realized that RC motors are ~$50USD/ea in the USA :( -
I was originally trying to avoid using the A-arm pieces as I don't own any, but that really is the cleanest way to do it... Dang it :p That is an incredibly cool design! I probably won't use it for this project but I am going to try it on one in the future. Thank you, I went ahead and purchased some of the A-arms from bricklink, I'm going to try it out and see how well they hold up. Thanks for the tips!

I come to you great minds to help me solve a problem I'm having with a new axle design. I'm using the portal hubs for one last piece of reduction for the new design, but I'm having trouble adapting a driven, steerable, independent suspension that is small and strong enough to handle the abuse of a powerful 1:10 model. These are the hubs: The easiest solution I could configure was using these: 4523398 But since I don't currently own any I would need to go purchase 8 of them for the new model, which I would like to avoid if there is a better option. And I'm a little worried about strength with using those pieces as the only thing holding the entire hub and wheel assemblies would be two ball joints. So has anyone designed a strong, compact, powered, steerable independent suspension using portal hubs? (quite the mouthful!) Thank you for your help!

Man I wish I would have taken a picture... Earlier this year I tried to make a... crawler? a 4 tracked vehicle, driven by 2 XL motors. The interesting thing was that each track was mounted on it's very end with a turntable and each turntable was rotatable by there own M motor. The idea was to be able to lift each track individually or altogether in order to make it "walk" or to put it up on stilts, then lift legs individually to climb on top of larger objects then it would be able to climb over on it's own. Maybe this will make it understandable: Anyway, I was very happy with myself for figuring out how to get power to each track through the turntable while still having everything work, but when I finished it it must have weighed 10#, and could not move under its own power :( I scrapped it and built my 4 wheeled crawler instead hahaha

I purchased the Unimog which was my first taste of pneumatics and I'd like to expand my abilities. My question comes down to this, Is it more cost effective to buy the parts piece by piece on bricklink or purchase an older set that has a robust pneumatic system? Would you suggest any specific set? As a third option I've also seen big setups on ebay, but I'm not sure if it's worth paying extra for the multiple pieces I don't need. Something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lego-Pneumatic-PRO-Technic-NXT-Cylinder-Pump-Switch-Tubing-Hose-Air-Tank-Gear-/251251574179?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item3a7fc2c5a3 And finally a quick question- are the air tanks helpful if I'm using a motorized pump or are those mostly just useful for the hand pump models? Thanks for your help!

Very much so! Hence why I add the extra springs when the body is on. Honestly I prefer to play with it with the body off , but it displays better with the body for sure! I am very happy with the amount of Technic blocks I have now, I simply wish I had more standard legos, I think I could make a much better body with standard legos compared to the panels. Thank you very much for the input and compliment!

I've always been a fan of old International Harvester trucks, so for my first MOC I wanted to make my favorite version, a Scout 800 Half cab: It's a little rough because the only Legos I have so far are from these sets: 2x 9398 2x 8110 1x 8043 1x 42006 It's a small collection so far but it is growing! For the drivetrain I used 2 of Efferman's dual "L" axles with independent servo motors front and rear, connected to 2 V2 receivers to a single battery box. The suspension is of my own design, originally it was a design of forced articulation, but after a few too many failed attempts I used a dual spring cantilevered design. I hope no one minds aftermarket tyres! Finally the body was made from panels. I would have preferred to use studded legos to add more detail, but my collection does not allow for that yet. Also the orange corner panels were a requirement because I do not own any in black, white, or grey. Also, with the body on the frame there was very much play in the body, so the springs on the very front and very back of the model are simply to hold the body on straight. They do drastically lower performance so I only have them connected for display. Without further ado-

Was reading through Sariel's book and I came across this image: I suppose I'm looking at this wrong, or my depth perception is off, but how did he mount the motor to the linear actuator without using the 2 mounting points on the bottom of the actuator? Or is the mount at the top of the assembly with some pieces hanging off the bottom?

$159.99 USD for 9398 4x4 Crawler http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12818254 $167.99 USD for 8110 Unimog http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11815466 Their website says they ship international, but I cannot find any information on if the "Free shipping" promotion includes international (doubtful, but who knows right?). Great deal for anyone in the US regardless.
