It would make sense wouldn't it? I wonder if this rare white Mandalorian Fig was a experiment by TLG to see if people's passion for such a fig would mean huge sales of sets based off of it. Hear me out. TLG has this very limited Fig, Star Wars fans go gaga over it and it is discussed in length in the forums. People's interests are peaked and people discuss how cool it looks, things they would prefer it had and other colors or designs. Boba and Jango are already very popular and TLG knows this, which is why we see a new Slave 1 being released this year. TLG listens and reads then releases a set or two and watches sales. Sales skyrocket (heck, I'd buy a few) and then more sets are released. You can look at this White Mandalorian as a teaser or preview and the best is yet to come. Just a theory....

How open are you about your Lego passion?
Col. Brik replied to Fugazi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Completely open about it. Anyone who knows me understands my passion for Lego. It does help to have two kids of my own (5-7 years) that enjoy the hobby with me. Friends will mention to me anything they see or learn about Lego. Their kids always want to come over to play at our house. They also will brag to me about the sets they have or the MOC's they build so when I visit friends homes I always have to play some Lego with their kids :) My parents understand, when I was young my Dad built me and my brothers a 10x10 table for our GI Joes and would help us build plaster mountains and stuff. No co-workers since I am self employed but customers know I enjoy Lego since there are models and sets at my desk. People that meet me for the first time are a little shocked at first when they ask about my hobbies they think about it and understand my passion for restoring, repairing and building things. -
Another excellent Comic, well done. Commander Awesome reminds me of a one time bartender in my town. He had a name tag that said "Captain Awesome" and he was a complete tool. So maybe my bias against arrogant guys who think they are awesome will cause me to dislike Commander Awesome. I'll try to keep a open mind though. He may turn our to truly be the awesome one.

Well, kudo's to anyone who wants to spend that much for a minifig. I just hope they aren't upset when LEGO releases Mandalorian Figs in the Clone War Sets. White, Blue or whatever other color that may come up. I have a feeling they will follow the path of the Cartoon. We have seen past characters of the show released. Vader, at one time, was a rare fig. Now you can get him easily.

Looks good to me, Star Wars was my only thought looking at it. Nice scene, well done.

Cool lighting effects, well done!

There seem to be some bright minds that are "in the loop" so to speak for the upcoming and current testing of LU. I am curious as to their thoughts on a few things. 1. The application was one question, have you played online games. That seems to be a short application 2. With that, how do they base the level of testing a person can do? 3. Considering the short question are I have to suspect that people that are very, very active in the official Lego forums went first for testing. Others "in the loop" where also the first and again more people in the community that are very vested. As a aged AFOL (36) with two little Lego maniacs in the house I do hope to get a chance to test the game and hopefully have input since I have two kids who will play it I am sure, along with myself. Just from past experience I found the application lacking. I tested Vanguard, Saga of Heroes in the final Beta and enjoyed that. Played Planetside online, OFP, ArmA and ArmA2, Rfactor and really enjoyed those. Hopefully another question-are with your PC specs, background is sent out to get a broad range of testers and ideas.

Well Done.

Thanks everyone for the comments and kudo's. Much appreciated. I actually agree with some of the suggestions and items that weren't right for some. Red fell into the MOC because I had plenty of red plates to use. The glass slopes for cockpit windows I wasn't to fond of but had little else to work with. I am looking into buying some other choices for future MOC's. Yes, the Hyper Drive is in the back, I really wanted some sort of mechanical area, or engine room so to speak. I'm sure to be building more Star Wars MOC's I enjoyed it very much. I've done my share of Town and City MOC's but they just never felt right. Fun part of Star Wars, your imagination can flow much easier, IMO. I would have like to get some better interior photos but they weren't turning out well. I had a nice Jedi area setup with a flat screen and swivel chairs in the Engine Room. I never went with a plan on this build and I think it shows in some areas. My next go-around I am trying to plan out right now. A YT Transports Ship. I can't afford the Falcon so I'll try to make my own but not that large :) Thanks again!

A early build from the Corellian Engineering Corporation. Long before the standard class Corvette's where produced this Corvette is owned and run by Col Brik and his Galactic Private Transport Firm. Based in the Outer Rim this ship, the "Gun Runner" as it is called has been rumored to not only transport goods and services throughout the Galaxy but also Jedi and and Clones. This service, which is only a rumor, is used when the Jedi don't want to take normal Republic Transport. Special Missions, Diplomatic Duty or anything else the Council needs to keep quite. A crew of eight can run the Ship with transport for up to 28. It has the ability to reach light speed and can be configured to carry goods such as weapons, repair equipment, Clone troops, or food stuffs. It's offensive capabilities are 5 Light Lasers Cannons and 1 Quad Laser Cannon. Standard defensive measures with deflector shields front and rear and Light Speed capability. Along the top of the craft, near the front is a added feature that didn't come from the factory. A small pod controls the two deployable recon droids who can scout far ahead to assure the Ships path will hold no surprises. It's engines, six total, push the ship well beyond most light duty transports normal speeds. Making it one of the oldest, but fastest in the Galaxy. Thanks for looking, all comments and opinions are appreciated

Let me clarify my own statement. When I look at the two Death Star Lego sets (#10143 and #10188) I see one as a display piece and one with massive playability. I am trying to balance the two. My brother has the #6211 Imperial Star Destroyer and it is very fragile, IMO. The kids can mangle it faster than a Jedi hunting Sith. He also has the #101188 Death Star and the kids haven't decimated it.....yet I guess I can also blame him for our Town theme turning Star Wars, he has turned them both to the dark side. ;)

More input, thank you all. I have been checking out Star Wars sites but thank you for the Wookie link. It will help a lot. I hope to have the ship done after this weekend. As long as the piece count doesn't kill me. I think there are a few buildings that may have to come down for a few certain parts I need. I'm trying to balance playability and looks which is tough. The kids just want a ship that will hold up but I'd like to build something I can show off.

Thank you all for your replies. I guess at this point of the build it is falling into the Droid/Rebel style of ships. It will be well rounded in the Hull which I think the will bring attention to it when I finish it. A larger stern section with larger engines 'ala Star Destroyer type and a Bow with a larger cockpit area. I'm not sure if it will be a Transport, Battle Cruiser or a Command ship yet. Also thanks for the story idea. I will bring a story with the ship, it will be fitting for it.

This question comes to mind because of my two sons. They both are pulling, pushing and basically enticing me to alter our LEGO Country into a Star Wars Country. If you've seen our pictures (below) you can tell there is no set theme to our World. There is every Theme represented but Star Wars is becoming the majority it seems. I have thought we have more of a "Fantasy Theme" going with everyone living amongst everyone. Our them is pure chaos actually :) Which leads me to my question. I am working on a new MOC for the boys. A very large Space Ship. It should be around 90 studs long, 20 studs wide. I am building it for their Star Wars Figs to have a proper ship to transport them. What makes a MOC a Star Wars MOC? Star Wars parts? Basing it off a actual Star Wars Ship? Adding Star Wars Figs? Once this ship is done it will be a Star Wars ship in my eyes because that is what they will use it for and because many of the pieces I am using come from Star Wars sets from old and new. Clones, Jedi, Clankers and BrikWar action at its best. I have looked at Star Wars websites to get a general feel for what the ships look like. I've seen all six Movies, watch the Clone Wars cartoon and have read and looked at some of the fan fiction and IMO just about anything I build could be called a Star Wars ship since they really had a broad look to them, again, IMO. So again, what makes a MOC a Star Wars MOC?

Hoping to make a two day event of it this year. Stay over Saturday night. We all felt we would enjoy the show much much more if we could pace ourselves and not feel rushed to see it all in one day. Not much of a chance to meet anyone either. So this year I think officially attending might be great for the family.

Of course I'd love to have the Sig Fig again. The same as last year please which is what my avatar to the left is. If you recall, the two small children figs were my two sons who also came down. If you could include them again, that would be great!

Awesome. I am saving this for my morning coffee tomorrow. Ya, crazy, but it is the best way to enjoy comics.--edit-- Yup, great comic again! Perfect story and great lead in for the next one.

Since you share the hobby with your Son. I'd suggest taking your last name and make a name from that. We did with ours.

Town is my preferred choice because it can reflect real life or a imagined one you would like to see. Trying to recreate things you see everyday is also a bonus for me. Granted, looking at our City/Country layout in my household it really stretches all themes of LEGO but if you look at it in a general sense it is very "Town" based in its structure.

Good choice of colors. I wish more Stations would have some color and life to them, just to ID them easier. Maybe a stripe or two, some large signage like your "34".

Salute. Thank you for your service, my brother was 1st Div, 1st Tanks, Delta. He would say you did a fine job with the minifig Charlie uniform. Your Embassy is excellent, great first MOC. Some great looking street scenes in there also. Any back story to why a US embassy is there?

What is the funniest things you have heard said about Lego?
Col. Brik replied to Sisco's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I was cleaning and painting a the "U" shaped table you can see in my sig below. It was at my place of business in the shop area. A customer was watching me and ask what it was for. I explained it was for our LEGO collection at home. She said "wow, it is so big, you'll never fill all that space with Lego". I smiled Not funny to her but then I explained how it will take up half our collection while laughing she realized it wasn't just a hobby but a obsession. -
Now I know the face to the name. I bumped into you at Brickworld 2008. You were messing with the kids while they watched the crane by remote control go up and down and we small talked for a bit. You had a AWESOME display and I recall you mentioning the SCCA ClubRally and getting out of it and into LEGO again. Funny how that little snippet brought that memory crashing back.

I'll play 35 years old. Married for almost 11 years. I have two young sons who are 7 and just about 5. They are my reason for getting back into LEGO. Without them I would not be here. As they started to get old and wanted more playing time with Dad I put the PC gaming aside and broke the LEGO out of the storage. Since then I have become devoted to LEGO all over again because of my two boys. I own and operate a Automotive Repair facility in my small hometown. I've restored over a dozen old, race and exotic cars in my spare time and currently have 5 classic cars that are at my hands to drive when I want. three of which I own and the other two are owned by the business between myself and my father. My frustration is I can envision, restore, build and modify anything automotive but my LEGO Moc skills I am still trying to get a hold of. Outdoors Men. Which is why I am coming and going in here at times. As the weather gets worse I spend more time indoors since Wisconsin Winters are no fun and I am not a big winter fan, this time of year I play video games, LEGO and read a lot. Historic Military and fiction are my favorites. My fun in the summer with Road Racing Cars, Autocross, Coaching Soccer and Baseball with my boys. That and camping, hunting and just generally being outside. I have a issue with not needing much sleep in life which is why I have so many hobby's. 4-5 hours a night is all I have ever needed. I have a extremely bad type A personality which can turn people off at times. I am in charge, I need to be in charge and always will be in charge

Well done! My brother also found them in the local Toys R Us (Madison WI) and grabbed me a few sets. My two boys are also anticipating getting a few for Christmas. Lets hope the have a Tan Army that comes out in the future if another Toy Story movie is made.
