Amy Winehouse, Posh & Beckham, Madonna
posades replied to Capt. Kirk's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Haha I agree, very strange but unique. I like Posh and Beckham, those are funny. -
Yes, I only saw the Power Miners sets 25% off on their online ad, which is too bad. Well at least they are now MSRP!

Looks good; couple suggestions: not familiar with the Clone War series, but are the Droidekas in the show red? Brown would have looked better in my opinion (if they have that curved piece in brown that is). The 1x1 smooth tile near its "mouth" could use something else, maybe something more slender (if I remember correctly there is 1 or 2 guns there in the real thing)?

I have a quick question for experienced Bricklinkers: is there any benefit to putting an item on auction as opposed to a fixed price? Seems like most people do a fixed price and don't worry about the auction at all.
-
Just wondering if this MOC ever got completed; the design is amazing, too bad Tenorikuma never got around to uploading some pictures.
-
Love it, though the mix of old brown and red-brown is distracting my eye a bit. Did TLG ever release those traingle pieces in red-brown?
-
Exactly like normal minifigs; I have the Darth Vader pack and legs, heads, etc. can be taken off with the magnet being in the dark bley block.
-
Too bad the closest brick and mortar store to me is a couple states away; hopefully they'll put it on sale on their website as well, but I'm not holding my breath.
-
Haha anyone with a spare Boba better sell him now while the price is still high. I'll probably end up getting the Leia pack, though I've always wanted a Darth Maul...(what color are the accents on his robe, looks like aqua blue or something )
-
I agree, why did they have to be CW style...if they weren't I would buy them in a heartbeat. Still might buy them anyways to make some cash off of resell.
-
Not too worried about them getting the license, never cared for Halo much; a Mario or Nintendo theme on the other hand....
-
Overpriced indeed, 385 pieces for that price really hurts. Probably won't get it unless I see it on sale one day.

Someone mentioned TLG should create a licensed 'The Hobbit' line when the movie releases--that would be a great idea! Perhaps if it takes off they might be inclined to produce some other sets from the series, which would be awesome. My only reservation is that TLG might not want to go along with it since to the casual observer the Castle and Hobbit lines may be too alike (which I guess might be true, but they could always do something different with the licensed sets such as fleshies, more use of a specific color like black or dark green, etc.)

Well what I meant to say was General Grievous's cape, apparently it has some printing on it (updated to reflect this plus some other small changes). But a dark bley cape will also work if someone has one.

@Cakeman Wish I knew about the Cthulhu mythos, apparently it was created by some guy called HP Lovecraft (at least that's what I could discern from 2 minutes of googling)? I was thinking maybe adding a time traveling aspect into the story (big fan of LOST if anyone watches that), where they could experience different time periods in history. All the names from everyone sound great so far; I like how you gave them nicknames Cakeman, especially "Boom" for Adventurer 3.

I've always wanted to create a tale about 4 adventurers in search of something (ok, so the story needs to be refined a bit ). I've decided upon the design of said adventurers, but now comes the hard part: naming them! So that's where I was hoping I could get some input from the community. I'm going to give a pic of each adventurer and a short background synopsis, and hopefully you guys can come up with some decent names (seeing as how I can't). So without further ado: Adventurer #1 "Raised by her single father since she could remember, Adventurer 1 owes her adventurous spirit to him. At the age of 16, she is witness to the kidnapping of her dad and vows revenge at the group responsible. Fate has led her to a small outpost in a distant land along with three other travelers. Gives the impression of being a tomboy, but deep down inside yearns to be a 'damsel in distress' with a Prince Charming to sweep her off her feet. Expert marksman with both a crossbow and pistol, can often be headstrong. Adventurer #2 "A professor at the local University, Adventurer 2 is a gifted young man known for his research and vast knowledge. Overly humble and soft spoken, he prefers the silence of his office rather than the keynote speeches and lavish dinners. Although only age 28, he acts twice his age and is oblivious to the finer things in life (read: women). Has no idea that Adventurer 1 secretly admires and likes him; he always carries his old and worn messenger bag wherever he goes that contains a notebook of his most recent findings. Adventurer #3 "A retired naval officer, Adventurer 3 has the reputation of being a mean, grumpy old man. Good with his hands and remarkably efficient in any task he completes, Adventurer 4 never backs down and never surrenders. This attitude has often led to some dicey situations, but his son (Adventurer 4) is always there to lend a helping hand. However many times his son saves the day, though, he always fails to give him the proper respect; prefers the company of intellectually gifted Adventurer #2 and openly wishes his son was more like him. Adventurer #4 "Not the sharpest tool in the shed, Adventurer 4 has always been known for his physical prowess and athletic ability rather than his intellectual acumen. However, get to know him, and he's more than just a set of broad shoulders. Deeply devoted and surprisingly emotional, Adventurer 4 tends to keep to himself and say little while around others. Can often find the solution to a difficult problem through practical means. Son of Adventurer 3, he wants nothing more than to make his dad proud of what he has accomplished."

Well considering TLG doesn't put him in the Battle Packs, I highly doubt that.
-
Looks great and nice quote to tie it all together. Still makes me sad thinking back to that scene in the movie, but you captured it well.
-
You know I could see TLG charging $40 for the Separatist Shuttle even with the low piece count simply because of the figs involved.

Troll Fortress looks good except for the seaweed pieces...they look out of place to me. Maybe dark green regular foliage pieces like the King's Castle would have been better? I know they aren't supposed to be seaweed, but I'm instantly reminded of the ocean or something when I see them.

THE OLD Official Eurobricks Straightshooters List
posades replied to The Middleman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
+1 to Natman4000 and KinGanon for great trades! -
For me it was a mix of several different things; I was growing up, experiencing "changes" so to speak ; my parent's also believed I was getting too old for that type of stuff, and so they stopped buying me sets. Since I didn't really have a steady form of income this forced me into my dark age as well. Finally, I started getting into video games more, and so any money I would get would unfortunately go to buying more games. To tell you the truth I don't remember what got me into LEGO again, I think it was seeing a set or two on super sale at KBtoys and buying them. It snowballed from there and now I can't get enough.

Added more items, a few trades pending.

Now all they need to do is sub in some Dwarves instead of Indy and Co. and I'll be a happy man.

I'd suggest selling some of the older sets you aren't that attached to and keeping the ones you like the most; that way you can still finance at least some of your new purchases. I had trouble mixing in my old sets too when parting out all of my old and new sets by color, but I eventually created an old gray pile and a new bley pile (along with the other color changes, the less noticeable ones I just went ahead and mixed and now can't tell the difference ). When I do MOC's I tend to steer clear of the older version colors anyways unless it's to add variety in castle walls, etc.
