By 'all spoilers' do you mean we are free to talk about anything in the previous episode? Loved the season opener, can't wait to see where it goes (I have some questions but I'll hold off until I can post spoilers).

Is it buy only or are you accepting trades as well?

Lego, bring back the alternate builds and "Just Imagine" slo
posades replied to Forresto's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Like most of you, I remember looking at the back of the box as a kid and trying to copy the alternate builds. Most of the time, however, I'd just get frustrated after not being able to get it completely right and wished there were directions for the alternates. I would love for LEGO to bring those back, if just to inspire the new generation of kids. I know I'd be willing to try out one of the alternate builds, though I'd rather not have directions now that I'm older and wiser. -
I made my sig-fig with the intention of him looking like me, though it's hard to find a head with stubble and bushy eyebrows. It also doesn't help that minifig heads don't have ears. The hair is actually my style when it gets longer (though I tend to flip it up slightly in the front), and when it's shorter I prefer a faux hawk (no hairpiece for that yet ).

Erm, interesting name of the creek you got there. Great little MOC you have here, nice to see all the little details like the piece of poop floating out to the town's drinking water supply and the toilet paper stuck to the guy's calf.

Definitely all the Star Wars sets from the 90's, as I could resell them for a hefty profit nowadays. Truth be told even if I could go back in time, I would still be a poor child so I wouldn't be able to buy any of the sets anyways; I remember staring hopelessly at the pirate ship box with the flip cover in Toys R Us, dreaming of one day owning it. I would probably get in on some of the original Harry Potter sets as well since those occurred during my dark age.

Awesome MOD, much better than the original in my opinion. I do have a question though, did you add any pieces from your collection to build this or is it strictly pieces from the original set? I'll have to try and build it like this myself if I ever get my hands on the set (only going to buy it on sale like you though).

Is it still time to add me? If so you can just use my icon (and black pants for the legs).

Well said Mr. Mandalorian. As much as I'd like for the rule to be black and white, I realize it's impossible with a community this large and the internet being what it is. I guess my whole gripe was the wording of the rule, but I can see a case by case working along with a "don't ask don't tell" policy. Off topic: And it seems some of the mods aren't quite as "mature" as we make them out to be, considering one of them spelled legally wrong in your title (unless there's an inside joke in there I'm missing ). Off topic #2: Love where you're 'from', Mr. Mandalorian. I prefer Vega myself, but I'll let you slide because being a star in the constellation Orion automatically makes it cool.

What's this viscous circle you speak of (more viscous than molasses)? I agree though, maturity doesn't always have to deal with inflammatory topics and graphic language. In fact I'd argue being mature is seeing past that and having intelligent discourse and constructive criticism, which for the most part already happens here.

I don't think anyone will get angry and quit buying them, they'll probably just decide to go the Bricklink route to get their favorite ones instead of playing a "lottery" (which is just as bad because LEGO doesn't receive any of the profit). -

So he saw the second set and didn't remember/list any of the new figs? I'm on the fence with the "some being rarer than others" move. On the one hand it's going to definitely lower the price on some figs on Bricklink and whatnot, but knowing my luck the ones I want will be the rare ones with the inflated prices. -
Which set does the guy in the middle come in? It seems like a very versatile torso and head you could use for a lot of different MOC's involving peasants, street vendors, etc.
-
Yes but being kids, don't they have an excuse to act that way as opposed to the some of the "adult" forums you listed? I'm all for laughs and whatnot, but making fun of how someone types or how misinformed they are seems a bit harsh (especially when most of them aren't old enough to have germane and cogent discussion). I don't see that kind of behavior here towards other Eurobricks members, so why would it be okay for this type of conversation to be going on behind peoples' backs so to speak? Let's not forget we were all 7 and 8 at one point, and I don't think we have any child prodigies amongst us that could keep up intelligent conversation for an extended period of time. Simply pointing and laughing never solved anything, and no matter how hard you try I highly doubt you'd be able to change the content of the posts there so it might be better just to let them be.

I'm guessing the Hamleys picture is one of the older set before they redesigned it, since as someone mentioned we already have box pics of 7569. Too bad huh, getting 4 minifigs and a shirtless torso would have been awesome for $10.

Someone must have been really OCD then to put all the arms at the same exact angle. Also touching upon what someone else said, the reflections and "glossy-ness" of some of the figs don't match up. I'll agree with you though, this whole conversation about whether or not the image is real is kind of dumb. Either way, that's most likely the final versions so they're going to look like that in some capacity. -
Welcome to Eurobricks and hope you find some interesting stuff here! Where are you from? If I had to guess it would be somewhere in the South of the US...

This is great news! I've always wanted to go to the one in California, but the long distance made it impossible. Now the next time we take a family trip down to Disney World I'll be sure to persuade everyone to take a little detour.

Sorry, I misunderstood what you originally said. Yes I did think about that, and I clearly stated that my line of thinking was just my personal opinion. Obviously there are going to be people that disagree with me (heck I'd be hard pressed to find someone who agrees ). I get the whole expression thing, I'm just not always sure how much is 'personal artistic expression' and how much is 'let's make this MOC so I can see how many people I can offend'. I'm not imposing my views on anyone, I'm just saying there's inevitably going to be someone out there that takes objection to a MOC with underlying sexual tones; it's comical sometimes seeing people say there should be free expression and then snidely deride the notion there might be someone out there offended by a particular piece of work (not directed at you Sandy since you didn't do that). And yes in my perfect fantasy world no one would ever get offended or hurt, which is also another reason I'm a dull and lifeless person. I appreciate the backhanded compliment, I really do (I wouldn't still be playing with LEGO if I wasn't a child at heart!). Who's to say there isn't someone out there twisted enough not to be offended by a racially motivated MOC, for instance? Living in the deep South of the United States for most of my life, I can assure you there are people of all different backgrounds and mentalities. I'm sorry I offended you with my comparison, and I'll try to use a better analogy next time the opportunity arises. You illustrated my point well, however; there are differing viewpoints of what "morality" and "etiquette" means to each person. Some might find the depiction of sexual acts more 'wrong' than the depiction of one of the darkest times in our history (as sad as that may be). Unfortunately this gray area makes it really hard to police what is right and what is wrong (other than a case by case basis which is almost impossible to keep up). How about this analogy: a bondage MOC posted in the Town Forums is like a 14 year-old posting in the Eurobricks Forum. Most people won't have a problem with it, but what to do with the one or two that might find it offensive because it's breaking the "rules"? (you see how I made this post on-topic ) Like I said, I'm not imposing my views on anyone, just giving a different viewpoint. I don't see how quietly telling a mod the reason a particular picture might be found offensive to some (whoever did that) is causing a ruckus. I agree we shouldn't be treated like children, and I also agree we very rarely do on this forum. As I noted in my previous post, I personally was never offended by the material in the image, but someone obviously was to contact a mod with their concerns and for a mod to act on this particular grievance.

I'm assuming this is sarcasm considering you just contradicted yourself. I'm certainly not offended by anything created out of LEGO, but when I see a MOC like that I have to chuckle and wonder the maturity of the user. The builder had to sense what was coming, and maybe that's what he/she wanted: attention. You could talk about the building techniques used in the MOC and whatnot, but from what I read that's not what was going on; sex and violence are "adult" topics, sure, but to me a part of being "mature" is realizing there's right time and place for everything. Having said that, I'm sure there are people out there that found the bondage MOC offensive, similar to how a person of Jewish descent might find a Nazi MOC involving a concentration camp offensive. I guess the point is people have different morals/tastes, so why even try to stir the pot with something risque when you know it's just going to cause a ruckus? (disclaimer: I know this is just my opinion, I'm a boring person )

I'm interested in placing an order, but the shipping cost seems a bit high. Is that flat rate set in stone? If you can come down a little I'll place my order right away!

I dunno, to me it looks like Sand Orange. I could see how it could be Dark Orange though, especially since the Tan (like the camel) in the picture seem too light and a couple other colors are the same way.

Great little set, but the price kills it for me. I can understand hiking the price up because of the increased number of minifigs, but I'm going to be passing unless I can buy it on sale or at a discounted price. For those that price is not an issue, it looks like the best Landspeeder yet.

Last time I checked there are some college students above the age of 18 that have both these problems. Maybe not the best choice of words? In my opinion rules like this should be black and white; if you start to make an exception here or an exception there, who's to say a 17 year old that isn't an expert MOC-er but brings germane discussion to the table doesn't have a legitimate argument as to why he should be banned as opposed to someone of the same age that might be more creative with the bricks? Point being, when you start letting someone slide on a rule because of their exceptional status, you open up a whole 'nother can of worms. If it was me it would be a strict 18+, but of course I'm not running the forums and my opinion matters little.
