  1. So what are this theme's special parts? There is a globe, yes, and there will be the Johnny Headpiece, but what else?
  2. Wow excellent build! I was waiting to see if someone will use the gorilla suit in this way! Love the vegetation, absolutely gorgeous.
  3. In a perfect world they would, but I'm afraid it's much more cost effective to outsource.
  4. If they managed to get the battle pack quality to the quality of collectible minifigures I will be more than happy, I'll leave it at that. On a funny side note, are any of you getting the "chicken fever", where you can't wait to get your hands on as many as you can and build every variation of a farm/village etc that you can think of?? I sure am.
  5. Yes you are right, the roof is a step-wise series of plates all of them 2 units wide, and the final step is a (Plate Modified 1 x 2 with Door Rail) To give the appearance of a gutter and to look like it completes the roof. Keep in mind this eats up cheese slopes like you wouldn't believe, so if you're ordering them get a few hundred.
  6. I like the stone-work on the house but something that impressed me is that the window and the door match in color and it makes them "pop" more, so well done on that part! The roof is nicely done and of course grade A vegetation!
  7. Truly excellent design! The pond is great! The roof is beautiful and you've shown how to use the newest minfigures in a creative way, so two thumbs up for me!
  8. Lovely vignette! The mechanical look of the hall is wonderful and the new faces work miracles at reviving the old classic space figures! I especially like the design of the door.
  9. The dragon has 3 separate parts; a head region that is build on top of (Black Plate, Modified 2 x 2 with Bar Frame Octagonal) and there is a clip holding the alligator upper jaw in place. The head is attached to a "body" which only has one side, and is attacked on an angled hinge, so that it gives the appearance of bursting through the floor below. The final part is the arm, which is a very simple build, a few bricks and slopes and a hand composed of those exo-force arms in green. Yes, the thing is, it is a cut-off of the top portion of some grand castle. My mistake was cutting it off mid-floor
  10. Wow! The roof/woodwork and masonry are beautiful! As a whole it's very realistic and tastefully done, great work!
  11. Thanks to all! The Geonosian heads came to me as I was trying desperately to figure out what else I could use for gargoyles, and they fit the role perfectly. I would love for Lego to release the phoenix mold from the HP line in bley or dark bley. (Or mabe get the baby dragon in those colors)
  12. First of all, I am very honored to be frontpaged, thank you all, and thank you ISC! Thank you, yes the roof was my biggest idea I wanted to test in the MOC, both the intact one and the one breaking apart. Thank you. You are looking at 600+ cheese slopes. If I had my way I would have built a whole castle with this design, but that roof consumed so many parts that it would have been utter madness. Once again thank you ISC, for the frontpage! I toned down my fire idea because the dragon was so massive, a lot of flames added to the already saturated look of the roof. And I see what you mean about the scale, I guess I caught that too late into the build to correct it. Thank you for your comments!
  13. This is my newest MOC, Background: And so as the plague of the Vampire Lord's undead hordes spread throughout the Kingdom, it reached the pearly gates of Castle Leon, the home of the noble "Duke of Orlay". What started out as an ordinary morning has turned into a chaotic battle to the death, as the lion Knights and their noble Duke retreat to the highest roofs of the castle and make a final stand against the never-ending hoard of zombies. The menacing minions climb on, however, scaling the brickwork, grappling on to gargoyles and rusty chains as they make their way up, and the Duke fights on the highest tower against the wicked Lord himself; Vlad the Vampire Count. Just as it seems that the Lion Knights may have a fighting chance, Count Vlad uses his power to call an evil abomination to his aide, and it emerges from the pits of the earth itself, clawing it's way to the top of the tower, tearing the castle to rubble. I am especially happy with the roof technique, and want to thank ISC for giving me tips on the fire effects. Comments are welcome! *Please note( Could a mod deep-link a photo from my page, I can't seem to get it to work. Thank you! )
  14. Wow! The city is huge and the wiring is very impressive! Talk about a great mix of sets and custom builds. The one thing that I'm not fond of is the color of your train station, it's so bright that t distracts attention away from the rest of your wonderful city. I'm really digging the Lego store!
  15. I am a bit disappointed with the overall design of these sets. There are a few jewels and the QAR looks to be one of them, and so far the accessories look alright, but the actual builds and architecture are unimpressive when compared to, for example, Prince of Persia. That theme had some excellent builds, new parts, recolored parts and the sets felt fresh and set a great scene. The fight for the dagger in particular was a great set; the architecture, colors, new moulds and characters made you feel like you were in the movie, while these look like they were made as merchandise for the movie out of pre-existing parts. I hope the final minifigures are so impressive that I can overlook the designs, and I hope against hope that most of the sets change for the better and include new parts. My biggest grievance is with the fountain set and the White Cap Bay set. (Both have nice minifigures but are in the shadow of some really generic design) What it may be is that the box art itself is unexciting; just a blue strip with Jack's face on it. I was expecting more of an old map kind of print on the box; something that reminds you of the movies and pirates in general, which isn't a blue stripe with the Disney logo on it. Having said all of that I think the QAR, London Escape, Captain's Cabin and the Cannibal Escape look great! All are must-buys!
  16. I agree with you that Lego doesn't make 100% accurate historic themes, but I disagree that kids don't like history. I am all for a Roman theme, and an Asterix-like tribe of warriors and Germanic barbarians may just be one of the best themes ever conceived of. Trouble is, Lego doesn't like to take history and present it's violent side, otherwise they have to paint certain people as good guys and others as bad guys and that can hinder sales, so it isn't done. I am positive we will see a Roman soldier soon though; (Series 5 Collectible Minifigures anyone??)
  17. Ingrimm you are a mad scientist! This is cool and twisted and you've picked out the details, minifigures, faces and techniques so well that the scene feels alive. Great wood-effects, and I love the photography! 10/10 for me sir
  18. Yes I just spotted this as well, I wonder how they'll do the printing on it. These are definitely preliminary; one of the mermaids has a yellow torso. I personally like the red sails on the QAR because it gives it a nice crimson glow, and there isn't a giant cartoony skull on them .
  19. Hmm these don't say "Preliminary" on them but the figures sure look like prototypes. (The soldiers have the 2009 Soldier torsos on and I sure hope that changes as I had high hopes for redcoats in the theme. The QAR looks great although there are a lot of skulls and bone pieces, and ... ZOMBIES!!
  20. Hey very nice battle scene SirSven7! I like that you've updated all of the minifigures with new faces and accessories! Love the guy with the bloody stub for an arm!
  21. Very good colors, very clean lines, and it looks so polished! Excellent job!
  22. Each has faction has its own appeal. Pirates are a horde force, the fun there is to make a riffraff bunch of bada$$es and live the life of plunder and adventure. Imperials are a very proper force, all uniforms, drums, colors, but it demands respect. The appeal lies in the structured ranks, and the awesome might of their navy, which runs like a well-oiled machine. I for one argue that islanders should also be included in the poll; sure they don't sail the ocean blue but are a staple in the theme and sure gave the pirates the run for their money. Fingers crossed for the new PoTC sets to satisfy our appetite for uniforms, weapons and new parts for all factions.
  23. That is pretty exciting news, it sure looks like we'll be getting the new double-barrel gun piece. It doesn't make all that much sense to have a two barrels on a revolver but then again who are we to question the wisdom of TLG. It seems every new theme comes out with new accessories for the minifigures and I guess in AC we get double-barreled revolvers and alien ray guns.
  24. I strongly doubt that, so far all licensed themes represent scenes from the movies themselves and not from the extended universe.
  25. I'm with you on that one, I got my Kingdoms minifigs in sets and off of Bricklink but I won't touch battle pack figures. (Why go cheap on my favorite theme?)
