That's neat, I missed it entierly. Hmm, it does appear to be just what we think it is, and it's even standing on top of the barn (where else would a rooster stand) I like your idea for the plume that could be added: Imagine a chicken mold but in dark or reddish brown with a little opening at its tail (Like to one on top of helmets) where you could put the plume. That would be exciting news as you could have a variety of different colors (dark blue, dark green, white etc. ) running around the barn yard! I don't think they would include brick-built animals anymore; I like this move towards new molds!!

How open are you about your Lego passion?
Sirens-of-Titan replied to Fugazi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Agree with you 100% about how people perceive it. It occurs to me that if somebody sucked at building as a kid that may be a lasting impression of Legos to them; something that you haphazardly throw together and don't think of twice. I'm sorry for people who think it's just a toy after all there is a lot of artistic, architectural and fantasy skills involved in building a MOC but it escapes most people. -
Agreed! Somehow no matter how cliche something is, as soon as it's built in Lego it either looks neat, brilliant or adorable and so you can't lose!

Wait, are you saying that that indeed is a rooster up on the roof??? I don't really see how those two are similar, except that they both represent a farm. The only similarity structure-wise is the little crane on top of the barn, but it ends there. The animals are all different, there isn't really a pen of any sorts in the Kingdoms set while the city one has a big one, and the silo represents grain storage, while the mill is grain processing.

Excellent design to all of the furniture, it definitely give the impression that a certain minifig has a big EGO! My favorite is the desk lamp, that's a very, very neat and sleek technique!

Just an idea: Why not make a contest on here with something along the lines of "expand the Quest theme", give a few ideas and categories and see which direction members take it!

That is true, but why is there a general consensus that kids can't be excited about civilian sets? I mean, when I was 10 I loved playing with the western sets and the Indian village exactly because it represented a very tranquil and domestic scene. It's funny when you think about it that Lego Town is almost entirely made for civilian structures, public transport, supermarkets etc. and kids still dig it. (even if a lot of it is cops/robbers/firemen) It's not too far of a stretch to extend the desire for playing out a civilian role in a medieval setting. I think this may be a way to sell the farm sets much better than they sold in the City line, because there are also knights, so in a way it's the best of both worlds. I'd be interested in hearing if anyone knows a statistic about how much profit is generated by AFOL's vs gifts for children, it might explain the phenomenon.

Great review Brickster I missed out on these back in '99, and it seems there was a lot of potential for army-building. I like the comparison shots of the 3 ninjas; there is definitely a gradual progression to a more-cartoony art style, but the NinjaGo one looks the most balanced, while the other two seem to be lacking the character of modern minifigures.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Sirens-of-Titan replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
Granted that's true, but we aren't only seeing sets from the last movie: the cannibal escape and mill sets are all from previous movies, so that's why we have no way of knowing which Black Pearl will be released. (Since that was the title of the first film, it's entirely possible that it features skeletons, although I agree with you that this version will be very disappointing.) -
I think the prison set has to be evaluated on a level of bricks, minifigures and new pieces; after all just because it's called a prison set doesn't mean it has to be one. The cavalry is the definite jewel in that set; with barding, visor helm, and possibly (although not pictured so) a larger dragons shield. KD, I agree that the New castle is unlikely but the possibility never fails to fascinate people, and to me that box looks different enough to get me excited. (Although I will probably be disappointed ) As far as a siege set goes, I love the idea, after all this is the first castle line in years that hasn't introduced massive siege engines in the first wave so I figure we're probably overdue for one anyways.

Yes indeed the alien pets carry connotations that resemble the brain slugs, but then again, that is a very generic alien design, and can't be pin-pointed to a specific case or show.

Very neat ideas! I think that Lego would go with something more well known though, and they also need to incorporate the fantasy creatures into it. That's why I think the next place they visit will be one with extensive mythology, so far it seems the best candidates are Greece, The Norse tribes or South America. (I would add East Asia but with NinjaGo out, i doubt we'll see another fantasy line from that region anytime soon) If they do go with the journey to the center of the earth route, it will be a way to introduce dinosaurs in the theme, just like the old adventures sets did.

LEGO parts made of Chinese plastic?
Sirens-of-Titan replied to Henchmen4Hire's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yes quality is acceptable, it's the aesthetic and the principle of the thing that is in question for most die-hard fans. If it looks slightly different it is annoying, but that is a smaller issue compered to the trend to introduce more and more alternative plastics into regular sets. First it was just the magnets, then magnets, chess sets, etc., then collectible minifigures, and this year the entire spinner set of NinjaGo is made of "Chinese plastic". People worry that if we say nothing of it, one day in the near future they may make a permanent switch to that kind of plastic and that is something that I and most people here are not OK with. -
It certainly is odd to have the king's castle there as the only old set, but it is also odd that the tower in the set is so similar to the one in the castle. A thought occurred to me; what if this is the same castle after a big war? Imagine if the rest of the wall is in ruin, there dragon knights siege equipment, and the only part left standing is the tower? This may be justified because this wave definitely has the dragon Knights coming in full-strength, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were "winning the war" so far

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Sirens-of-Titan replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
I wonder if the Black Pearl will manned by pirates or skeletons, after all the movie had both, so while the ship itself should look like a Ghost ship, the crew could go either way. I am more partial to actual pirate figs, there are enough undead in most other themes at the moment. -

I went to TRU yesterday and the cashier asked if the sets I got were and I quote; "secretly for me" I looked at her smiled and asked; "secretly?" -
Despite the empty space it still is a massive set. Besides, can you imagine how much a big, solid UFO would cost, or weigh for that matter? I think when they say "mother ship" they mean command center. The commander is clearly the one coordinating the invasion, so it makes sense to call it that. PS You can tell he's the boss because he's got the most brain showing.

Yes! That has potential. To be honest, despite the initial hype over PQ, I now have had quite enough of this theme, and can't wait for it to move on. Unless there are radical changes in the design of the mummy warrior horde, i won't be getting any more. (After I have amassed about 20 they don't look all that impressive... )

Beautiful Oky! I'm jealous of your collection. Did you actually buy 2 pyramids or is that "bricklink to the rescue?"

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 4 discussion
Sirens-of-Titan replied to legokuate's topic in Special LEGO Themes
So the release date is set for April, but the Series 3 were set for January and I got a full set on the last day of November. Would it be possible to see these in early March? I have so many MOC ideas that incorporate these! I also can't wait for the Eurobricks contest -
2011 NINJAGO sets
Sirens-of-Titan replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Damn they hit us with a force! This wave was nowhere to be seen before New Year's and as of today they are everywhere! TRU, WalMart, Target! Serious marketing effort -
I guess in those terms it's a definite possibility, there is a scientist in the Earth HQ set, so a base is just around the corner!

Sirens-of-Titan replied to Fugazi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Ouch! Well what are you gonna do, in a perfect world you could give them sarcastic response they'll understand but, they're kids and chances are they won't even remember the encounter, so neither should you. I say, don't let it get to you, and the only reason employees are worried to see older patrons in a store is because they have pedophilia fears, and that's got nothing to do with Legos -
That's a bit too much for kids but that's our job as Moc'ers to create those exact devilish scenes!

I'm not sure I agree with that; after all the Prince of Persia sets had some amazing accessories and details. The "fight for the dagger" set was priceless as it had so many wonderful new extras, it was hard to put it down, and even harder to break it up for the parts, of which it offered countless useful ones. The prelims look great for this new theme; I mean, look at Isa de la Muerta; that's a lot of bley! The cannibal escape features a ton of useful parts in earth colors. Even the mill has potential for castle MOC's
