  1. Wow! A fantastic MOC Kris Kelvin! I love the design and the color of the church;the holes in the roof are a great touch. The robot looks good as a monk; I'm sure he will be quite ardent and dedicated to his task. The technique for the surrounding wall is really well done; smooth and gentle curvature and very very detailed! I can't wait to see the WW2 MOC!
  2. This set is a little treasure trove of parts and useful pieces! I am now a fan of any licensed theme because each wave brings us new molds and better and better accessories! This explosion of new items, along with CS Minifigures have given endless possibilities for MOCs and I for one can't wait to get my hands on this theme!
  3. Beautiful creation ISC! The mechanized look of the walls is simply stunning, and I really like the angled grill bricks! Awesome color scheme as well; the yellow and black really breaks up the gray in the best sort of way!
  4. I actually like the fact that they are pearl as my 90's supply of chrome gold coins have accumulated a lot of damage throughout the years. If there is one thing to be said about pearl it is that it doesn't wear. Not as shiny from a distance, but still a great new addition/ alternative to the world of LEGO treasure!
  5. Great review Brickster! I have a question: does Angelica's hat detach or is it a one piece mold with the hair like Jack Sparrow's? EDIT: Nevermind, it helps to read ahead. The ship itself looks good, and the parts are quite useful but the design seems a bit basic to me. A little too much reliance on the sails to cover up the jagged edges of the cabin, and not enough thought on interior except for the clever desk. I am not surprised stickers were included for the window, that is a trend that is not going away. is it just me or were stickers in the 90's a lot more durable than stickers today? I have some city planes with decals that are still looking as good as they did in 92, whicle stickers from 5 years ago are peeling away and breaking. Unfortunately I'm going to have to just pick up the useful pieces from this on bricklink, 120 USD it is a bit too much to ask for.
  6. Excellent Review White Fang! The treasure looks quite impressive; I can seem myself getting a few of these to accumulate some wealth. Some very useful parts in great colors are included with this little set, so it stands out as one of the best in the series. I'm not sure if it is as good as the "fight for the dagger" but it serves a similar function.
  7. What incredible architecture! The entire model is stunning but what impressed me most was the design of the decorations just below the roof line! Job well done, you deserve all the praise you are getting!
  8. Interesting idea, there are countless possibilities for using the hair piece, but also consider the head; I guess if Wookiees wore helmets this would be a perfect face to use!
  9. Really nice work! I wondered what an army of musketeers would look like and you answered that question quite well! As a fan of the Dumas books I am especially fond of this, and I like the use of the trans-neon orange plume instead of the expected red.
  10. Indeed they have them at Toys'R'Us but strangely enough not online but only in select stores. I am guessing in another 2 weeks they will be hitting shelves in the US!
  11. Amazing work Sir Dillon! One of the most realistic ruined buildings I've seen made from bricks! I can't wait to see more!
  12. Grogall you are a saint! Thank you! No major surprises but this made me laugh! I guess the safest place for a kid is touching the turning gear mechanism and swinging off the wing of the windmill! The king torso looks great, I'm glad this is the finalized one. It may be the most realistic regal apparel to date.
  13. I really like the smooth blue pieces and how they look next to the jagged mechanical bits! This looks great!
  14. Very true but the reason GI Joe was successful (And I don't think it was quite as popular in Continental Europe) was fact that after the initial historic uniforms, the figures became a mess of future-action, Asian fighter, James Bond mix action heroes. This was not as threatening to parents as actual war. The thing is; Lego prides itself with being an educational toy and outside of traditional histories and movie references it doesn't do the company any good to re-invent the wheel and try and make realistic models; that's already been done by hobby shops. There is also a factor of cool which figures into it; if all the kids were totally into B-17 bombers and Mig 29's I bet LEGO would have made a few. That is not to say that there haven't been a fair share of historic aircraft in realistic color schemes released over the years. The red Barron, Sopwith Camel and Wright Flier all ring a bell. Anyways, before I get too far off topic; I actually like the design of the human vehicles; especially the HQ, even if blue would not have been my color preference. The digital camouflage design on the tail of the human jet fighter is an especially nice touch.
  15. Unfortunately you are right. Add to that a controversial historic time period to turn off the parent and you've got yourself one set that will never sell to kids.
  16. Wow BaronSat! An excellent WWII creation! The flak cannon is a thing of beauty and the soldiers, officer, bunker and battle damage really recreate the war atmosphere! I'd love to see this incorporated into a bigger landscape. Well done!
  17. I am not sure this is an issue with all of them; so far I have had two artists from different batches and both palettes fit perfectly well in the hand. It may be an issue in either the hand, or that particular palette piece.
  18. Well that's a nice little set and almost certainly the most affordable way to build up a huge force of these guys. Some new/unique-colored pieces make this a must-buy for all interested in this series. I just hope they are readily available and not just a promotional item that will be around in limited quantity for a month.
  19. You're spot-on with these! Love the look on Susan's face. Keep these up L-Space!
  20. Releasing sets only a few at a time ensures that people buy them up. If there are 10 sets per theme maybe 8 of them will sell well but 2 will be left behind, and will just create clutter on shelves. By releasing 4 sets at a time until all are out, they tempt people into buying even the weaker sets; not to mention the excitement generated by the anticipation of releases. A lot of the market is novelty, so to release a few sets at a time allows the company to produce "new" sets all the time.
  21. I'm glad someone found a use for collectible minifigure stands! In all seriousness, a great model, impressive in scale, detail and in accuracy to the film. Very well done indeed!
  22. You raise some very interesting and valid points, it seems every theme is moving in the direction of good vs. bad guys. Whether it is explorers and undead mummies, space humans and aliens, evil knights or good knights, every theme is riddled with extreme polar conflicts that are supposed to create numerous hours of play-time. I think this is has a history of starting right around when the vikings theme came out; it was all humans vs. monsters and from there the ball got rolling into castle and so on. I don't mind very much; if anything it lets you collect more factions, and with bricklink readily available one could pick just one or the other and go crazy collecting and army building. Sets to me, even when I was 8, were more-so a source of parts and ideas than a final play product.
  23. Derfel this is an excellent build! The buildings are incredibly detailed and the angled one adds to the feel of a dynamic medival city. I really love the water effects as well; you've really managed to give it a swampy/creek feeling. I really like the hay in the wagon and the guy with the pitchfork transferring it! Great use of the musketeer hat; that figure looks very intimidating indeed. The SNOT doors are very well done as well! Over all it's outstanding!
  24. Thank you Aanchir, I see it now!
  25. Incredible castle and nature building! The colors are very bright and cheerful and I love how each faction has it's own camp and tent. Some very nice nature effects, and of course the story is always a great addition! Job well done!
