Mitgardia Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion

Yes Hersir, the amount of horses you brought to the Guild certainly do cause a substantially greater mess than the lowly Drow. Glad to hear so many Mitgradians are building tower, no worries if you can't make this first challenge, there will be quite a few opportunities to get points later on in the show! -

Bricksandparts, this rule applies only for challenges, if you want to build LDD projects you can still contribute with themed builds and add to the lore of Mitgardia. So by all means, please continue building, and helping other people out with your designs. -

No date set in stone, but end of this month seems like a reasonable deadline, no?? Love the idea of a Dwarven Watchtower! -
That's a great design kabel! The only thing that might undermine the desing is the colors; if it's not too late, I would exchange the red roof fora black one, and the red in horse carriage for brown. (Although this way it does have a certain RTS game feel that looks just fine from a distance) You make your guild proud!

Good day Guildsmen, It's great to see advice and ideas being passed around. As far as the drow incursions, it is the will of the Court that all Guildmsmen should only take defensive positions against intruders into Mitgardia. We do not want to provoke a war before we can defend our borders against a much larger force, and we certainly don't want to sour relations with the neighbors and bring upon us the fury of the high king in Cedrica. LDD creations are great for WIP purposes but in the long run we want to see some brick-built creations. Only brick-built will be accepted as a final product, just something to keep in mind so there are no surprises. Just so I'm aware of the numbers, how many of you who haven't already stated so are planning on building a tower? Long live Mitgardia! -

Great way to start us off Kabel! Please send your captured spy to our glorious capital; our best Dungeon Master will like to get a chance to find out what was on his mind when he crossed the border. -

Of course membership is always open! @kabel:Excellent scene; I like this narrative type of MOC'ing I hope to see more! @ Fat Tony: I would say that gunpowder weapons should be available to our Dwarves, engineers and elite units, but not to our main army. We wouldn't want to get in an arms race with the rest of the guilds (or else by next Sunday they'll be sporting blasters and light-sabers ). Cannon can exist as great bombards, which are massive, clumsy, slow moving and available to Dwarves only. I guess anyone who wishes to build Dwarven Moc's will have the awesome power and responsibility of devising these weapons, but we are not at war yet. let's build a peaceful world before we find creative ways to tear it to bits. @Busboy489: Wonderful citizens! I have seen your flickr and your building is MOC-expert level. I hope to see some civilian MOC's from you as we get going. Regarding the map of Mitgardia, Viceroy has volunteered his cartography skills to make one. I was going to address it so it's good that it's been brought up; We will soon have a full blown map of regions, and once we draw a rough draft we can take member suggestions for specific locations/names. The 4 Guild Leaders are working on a project that will allow all MOC's sumbited to each guild to be viewed in an easy acces thread, but that is in our hands and will happen later on in the show. My point is; don't worry about your Guild MOC's being buried in the forum, or lost in the midst of hundreds of posts; we will pull all of it together in the end, and you will be able to see your legacy. So build well, build with confidence, and let's make the Northern Guild the most balanced, mighty and beautiful Guild of them all! -
Great build SI! The color scheme is very original and you know how I feel about cheese slopes... Time to mobilize the Mitgardian traders, if there is trade in the South then there must be trade in the north. Viceroy's caravans should be reaching you soon.

Good day Guildsmen, A few announcements: As Tomcat Rio pointed out, we are in need of a cartographer who can make a glorious map of our lands. If anyone feels up to task please PM me and have an example of your previous work to showcase. To answer the question about MOC's; we strongly encourage all guild members to MOC in the theme of the guild. Keep in mind that only entrees for the challenges will earn us points, but we would nonetheless like to see the world of Mitgardia expanded thus we welcome all MOC's. (I may find a way to give incentive for these later on) @Stash2Sixx: Congratulations, due to your mighty army and thematic contributions to the style of the Mitgardian Army I pronounce you Hersir of the Foreign Legion. You, your army and the armies of Mitgardia will be our main offensive force should war break out in Historica. @ the Penguin: If anyone should have a hand in the Guild's financial matters it would be you, I give you the post of Minister of the Treasury , and add your name as the first on the list of our Trade/Economy Titans! Congratulations all! Now that the first two challenges have been addressed, it is time to concentrate on the task at hand; the watchtower challenge. You can treat this forum as a place to post your WIP shots, ask for advice and look for ideas and inspiration. I myself am working on a little something, but as Guild Leader cannot enter it as part of the competition. Nonetheless I will post it here to get the ball rolling in a few days. Long live Mitgardia! -

Well this is quite a glorious day for the Guild! We have here some incredible new members who will undoubtedly contribute to the grandeur of the Mitgardian Guild! @Dan Church: Welcome my friend, you and your men will be happy you chose to settle in Mitgardia. Say, I'd like to have a word with your engineer about his wondrous contraption. Our armies could benefit from such advanced technology. @Fat Tony: Welcome to Mitgardia, I was wondering when the Dwarves of the mines were going to pledge their loyalty; you've arrived just in time. I'd love to see some Dwarven buildings from you down the road, but for now we drink and celebrate the Guild's new allies! @ the Penguin: Ah sir, here you are, and in such style! Your trader is mighty impressive, and his back story most intriguing; while I can't wait to see your marvelous Mountain residence, I may have to offer you apartments near the palace of Valholl, so that we may discuss the business of the Guild. @ Stash2Sixx: Dear lord!!! I believe your force just send shock waves the world over Duke of Northridge! It is an honor to have you and your men, with this force the Mitgardian army is unstoppable. We will have to give you a position in the Military elite for this! Guildsmen, we are the powerhouse at this stage! I am proud of our membership and cannot wait for this building competition to get under way! Remember that while we are free to interpret and build anything for task one, it must still feel like it belongs in the North. I don't doubt you will do a phenomenal job at it; as you have all posted phenomenal pictures and minifigures! Long live Mitgardia! -

Welcome new members! I look froward to seeing your pictures! @O-S-T, Viceroy: Very true, Skyrim is an excellent source of Mitgardia inspiration, take a look at the concept art and you'll see what I'm talking about! I would make it a Guild Activity to play it, but not all members have 100+ hours to sacrifice for open-world exploration of a snow-themed and elaborate fantasy world.... Be right back! Hello there, I want to PM you but since you don't have 10 posts yet your messenger doesn't work. get a few posts in and we'll chat :)

Greetings Guildsmen! You will be a happy to know that the first build challenge is only a few hours away! A few announcements: 1) the Inventor; please step forward. For your recent contributions, for helping design the look of the guild's soldiers and for being the first member to enlist in the Mitgardian Army I am proud to give you the title of Hersir of the Northern Allies. You will lead the Northern legion of Mitgardia along with the forces of our Dwarven Allies into battle! Congratulation Hersir Edzerd! 2) I am proud to give Guild member darkdragon the title of "Guild Ambassador" for her recruitment of members and contributions to the guild. Welcome Madame Ambassador Than-Reya, the Jarl's Court is happy to receive you! Keep in mind that there is still one position open for our fourth and final Hersir. The court will wait a while before awarding this one, so build those beautiful innovative armies with confidence; the title will not be given until the Sunday, of this great week. The first challenge is up!! You have a whole month so don't rush; we will need sturdy watchtowers and defenses. You may use this space for posting WIP shots, but all finals must be posted as their own thread. Let's prove that Mitgardia has the best builders and architects! -

Today has been a glorious day for the Guild of Mitgardia! We have gotten an army, recruited new settlers, and assigned our first two mighty generals. A few Notes: Welcome back Guildsmen: Stash2sixx: You honor us with your presence sir, I am gleeful that Mitgardia is the Guild you chose. _dargor_ : Welcome to the Guild! Your ranger and force of uniformed soldiers will be a significant advantage for us on the battlefield! (Also your engineers will be happy to hear there is a lot of work ahead for them to do) Busboy489: Welcome to the guild! Wonderful figures and excellent photos, the use of hands as flags is ingenious! I hope you keep coming up with good ideas; I certainly be watching to see how you advance the Guild! kabel: good plan for getting green arms, your trebuchet is very unique and looks solid. Viceroy: Good to see you're expanding our influence! There are quite a few jobs the Guild needs a tradesman for, I hope you develop it into a full-blown enterprise. Tomcat RIO: Both your chariot and battle mammoths are very unique and interesting. I would perhaps lose the cannon; we do not posses such advanced dwarven technology as gunpowder. O-S-T: Either your orc or human figures will do; make it an 16X16 vignette and have your figure wear this: A big note to all Guild Members: Throughout this contest I will be updating the first post of this thread with all current news and build challenges as soon as they are decided, so check back regularly. The first build challenge will be announced in just a few days, so until then we encourage that you acquire parts and flags, keep building and posting your sigfigs/armies, and stay tuned as there will be an official world of Historica History thread Published that will both explain the background of the world, as well as give the exact rules of the building competition. Keep in mind that each Guild is a little different, and in Mitgardia special assignments and titles given out now will later translate to perks and bonuses, so I will be looking for outstanding members who can fill the positions. I want to see some more innovative armies; there are two more positions open for Hersir (Major General) and they will be assigned based on contribution to the first two challenges. You all make your Guild Leader Proud! Keep up the phenomenal work, and know that our best days are coming! Jarl Nibelung -
Very neat build; may I ask if Mass Effect was an inspiration? It carries a similar vibe! Very cool interior.

Rejoice Guild Member O-S-T, you have been selected for a special assignment; you will be honoring the Gods at the autumn festival with a song and dance this year! This is a great honor, so prepare your routine, impress the spectators and a special position will be unlocked for you in the royal court! (Hint, bells and juggling may be involved) -

To show that your Guild Leader is an active participant I present the following: Thanks to our new Hersirs the uniformed soldiers of Mitgardia can now take their place beside the Jarl. (Pictured here telling a joke everyone is too nervous not to laugh at) Here are some Norsemen Units. Elite Berserkers; armored only from the waist down, these mountains of bulging muscle can tear any shield wall to bits in mere seconds. Lastly, some good news: The Goblin Clans of the Frosty Mountain Pass have just been given enough shiny gold to join the proud ranks of Mitgardia and not shoot arrows at human travelers in the dense forests. That is all for now Guildsmen, keep on building and innovating! -

Welcome Viceroy it is a true pleasure to see a tradesman in our midst. Mitgardia will need a strong economy to fuel its forges and march its armies. Khorne and Ecclesiastes, step forward. For your valiant efforts in helping design our mighty armies and tribesmen I give each of you the title Hersir. (Major general) You are 2 of 4 mighty generals who will lead the Mitgardian Army and defend the North, and as the story of the world progresses unique build opportunities and perks will be available to you! Khorne will be Hersir of the Norsemen, and will be leading the culmination of Norse warriors into battle. Ecclesiastes will be Hersir of Valholl the capital city of Mitgardia, and will defend it's mighty gates against invaders. Two more Hersirs will be named, so keep up the good work Guildsmen, and keep innovating and expanding the might of the North! -

Welcome all, welcome! It's pure joy looking through your pictures! I like the diversity of our army, and the way two distinct groups have emerged. I propose that this is the look of our standard army based on popular designs. So green arms, yellow dragon ornaments, viking/crownie era torsos and bullet helms. For future reference and uniformity, the banner should be displayed with the green on the left when it is hanging down, or with the green on top when the flags are flailing sideways. Wonderful job on the barbarian factions as well, I may add a few Norsemen of my own later today. Keep up the phenomenal work everyone! You make your guild proud, I know we will rule the first build challenge! -
Ah, he who is without a sky over his head speaks. @ O-S-T and all others Dearest guildsmen, the point of this contest is to find creativity and ingenuity and make us build and think outside of the box. Let's not take it to heart that we can't simply recreate; instead rejoice in the opportunity to innovate! Mixing and matching and trial and error building will be part of this contest and esthetics and ideas will reign supreme at judgement time. If we wanted a generic contest we would have called it the "fantasy era revisited build" The toughest task is to make the limited amounts of Lego factions integrate and work out as one of 4 new armies, and for us to alleviate the burden of the challenge would be a disfavor to all who have already shown a lot of enthusiasm and ideas. We trust in you all, keep working on it and soon you'll be proud of the combinations you come up with!

Good figures so far everyone! The banner was chosen carefully so that it gives the most interesting color combo with relatively common flags. The green and yellow compliment each other well and look good decorating most grey, brown and tan walls, not to mention, how they stand out on a snowy field. Blue is a treacherous color of the Southern Wastelands and as such should be avoided at all costs. Gold is the color of Nocturnus, and is equally treacherous. Although dark and sand green are indeed the color of Avalonia, our banners can clearly be distinguished by the glorious stripe of yellow that is as unique as the North. So have no fear, the green and yellow will cover the North from border to border! From the masts of our ships, to the highest of mountain passes, from the humblest village to the mightiest fortress... You get my point. -
Incredible creation Fonzy! The angle work, the exterior and overall architecture are enough to impress, but the fact you managed to include your awesome interiors pleasantly shocked me! Truly a masterpiece, I cannot wait to see more from you! Coincidentally, I wonder if you've considered signing up for the community build? You style of building will be quite an asset any of the four Guilds. Please consider it, I'm sure we can find way to challenge you mighty building skills.

Welcome the the Guild Everyone! I am already loving what I'm seeing! Etzel, Khorne and Inventor you guys hit the nail on the head with the mini figure designs and descriptions! Kabel, great start, it's ok not to have the yellow flag at this point, just try to get some before the building challenges. darkdragon: Welcome to the Guild! Looking forward to your sigfig To all others who want to sign up but don't have a picture; you can simply declare your loyalty and later edit your post with picture. We are at this stage trying to get a critical mass of Guildsmen to ensure the North will reign supreme! -

I would say yes to Brickforge/Brickwarriors/Brickams products as our own avatars show we are using them. As far as customizing figures, we have come to a consensus that the main army figures have to be purist. There is more leeway in your personal character sigfig but ISC would have final say on that.
