We could do that, but it might ignite a turf war with the train forum! That really is an interesting idea though, I just wonder if history MOC'ers have the know-how to build elaborate mechanical contraptions and rail cars. (I don't think I'm 100% on that either ) If we do it it would certainly be interesting, but I would prefer a general western building contest. Just my 2 cents

Wow mcdenbesten that is a great creation! The things that impress me most are your tree which looks very "jugle'esque" indeed and adds a lot to the scene, and the conquistador minifigs; you have literally chosen the perfect combination of parts to make these guys! If there was ever a collectible minifigure conquistador that is what he would look like, plus a pearl gray helm. I like the space alien story; from what I know about Southern and Central American Legends this is one of the prevalent stories behind how the ancient cities were built!(In certain circles ) Overall a great idea, and an equally great execution! EDIT: Just saw your video and I love all the active features! The door opening with the lever is very impressive!!

Thank you for the review Donut! The thing that strikes me as the most revolutionary about this set is the great number of new and diverse civilian minifigures, accessories, new animal molds and of course the beautiful arrangement of earth tones in the buildings! I am a big fan of this trend in which the Lego group listens to AFOL's!

This is a great set, and certainly has quite a few useful parts, but I am wondering about the printing on the dog's face; it looks kind of strange; big open circle with a white dot in it??? I like to see the return to form with those simple smiley faces!

First of all; this is an incredible review Final Exit! Your photography is beautiful and you have shown every single nook and cranny of the set, not to mention the glorious HD pictures! Thank you and I hope you keep reviewing sets from now on. About the set; I think it's a brilliant build and even if AFOL's don't buy the color scheme or the alien invasion idea I'm pretty certain that if I was 10 once again I would be hyper with excitement over a set like this! What can we say; the alien commander's head is a nice surprise; I was not aware it was 3 pieces, which may make it useful down the road, as that green cranium is a very alien looking piece and with a stud slot on the bottom did I just hear someone say; alien tree? The minifigures are especially good; finally an older guy's face that isn't miserable or giddy with excitement. Now all we need is an older woman and the atomic family can be built! (Not to mention that mustache is killer!) Overall a great set and I'll be sure to at least bricklink the minifigures!

Thank you ISC I'm glad you like it! Yeah I know the story is basic and throws a lot of info your way without a real literally tone, but it's actually the condensed version of a rather long into I wrote for it that I thought nobody would read just due to it's size. ( I think anything over 2 paragraphs just escapes most people's attention span ) The photography tuned out much better than my previous MOC's I think I finally got it down with the lighting in the room.

Great microscale creation TooMuchCaffeine! I like how smooth it all is. I have a question for you though; did you get inspired to build this by the skull piece or did that come to you after you build was underway? ( it seems the kind of thing that would spark this idea to me)

D2C Contest: The Jellyfish Cafe
Sirens-of-Titan replied to Gabe's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Great build Gabe! I especially like the airlock and the happy-go-lucky smile the girl in the window has going! I'm also really liking the color scheme, the design of the building, the way the sunken ship has been angled to look like a realistic wreck, and of the course your several brick-built sea "monsters". Great entry, I wish you the best of luck in the contest! -
Thank you for the comments guys, I'm happy you like it!

Review: Escape from Dragon's Prison
Sirens-of-Titan replied to MCNwakeboard's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thank you for the review! I've been waiting to see what the night looks like up-close and he really is as good as the HD pics show him to be! I still find the horse barding's gap quite puzzling though; it's as if they decided to take out the middle of the print! Nonetheless a great army builder set for all of us who have been awaiting the dragon knight cavalry to arrive. I like the face on the Dragon guard/soldier; he's got the town fool look going for him! -
Awesome review! The blue ADU uniforms look great! I wonder if we will get more variation as the theme goes on. ( I sure hope so) A lot of potential with the new pieces, just a great little set and a great intro into the theme for people who don't want to buy the big sets.

I am pleased to present my latest build in my series of fantasy MOC's. I decided to tackle the goblin faction this time: The Goblin Menace: Three centuries ago the Tasher Empire stretched from sea to sea across all Kingdoms of men. The Emperors built outpost and highways to connect even the most remote corners of the Empire, as far north as the Black Mountain Highlands. Endless slopes of pine forests and wilderness cover this area where wild beasts roam the land, and remote mountain villages are the only trace of human activity. The fortress of Karadan was erected to mark this remote Imperial border, but after the Empire's fall to barbaric invasions two centuries ago, it was overran and has subsequently fallen to ruin. Legends tell of a highly prized Tasher relic known as the "Conduit” which was hidden at Karadan before the Empire's collapse. An object desired by treasure hunters and royal courts alike the Conduit has been the goal of many expeditions into Karadan; all of which have ended in failure. “The Order of the Crown of Thorns” (The Kingdom’s major religious sect) has hired Asparuh of Leon and Vanek Irongut (heir of Omurtag) to reclaim the relic for the temple. On their way up the mountain they have joined up with Morgan; the witch of the Highlands, who has agreed to help recover the relic in order to save two village boys who have foolishly wondered into the ruin the previous night. Upon their arrival they have found a gory and frightening scene; a goblin camp. Goblins are a smaller; more conniving breed of orc that lives high in the mountains. Tunneling underground and launching raids from remote campsites, few creatures in the mountains are as deadly as a band of goblins; especially when they are led by a chieftain head-taker. As fate would have it; the goblin horde has made a permanent camp in Karadan’s ruins, and corrupted creatures have infested its every crevice, making short work of hapless explorers who wonder by. As Asparuh and the goblin Chieftain lock eyes across a field riddled with the remains and impaled heads of those who have come before, time begins to dwindle down for the boys lost in the ruin. Will the party of heroes be able to remove the goblin Menace, save the villagers and recover the mythical conduit? The poor peasant boys should have known better than to explore Goblin-made tunnels... Once again, coming to the rescue protagonist Asparuh, this time with his trusted Dwarf companion Vanek Irongut, and Morgan the Witch of the highlands. The highlands are a beautiful place ... and a very dangerous one as well. The Goblin Chieftain Head-Taker The conduit; hundreds have died in an attempt to possess it. It's power unknown, it is still cause for war, expeditions and religious schisms. Poison-tipped arrows are just the beginning... I hope you enjoy this! Comments are welcomed! Edit: More on MOCPAGES!

Yes and that is a good thing, but the price on the delivery is nuts; 10$ for the smallest set + 6$ for shipping +state tax = about $20 for one set... I know, i know you can pick up multiples but if you just need one or two it's not a very good deal at all. The price of getting these 2 months in advance i guess.

D2C Contest: Ninjago Battle Chess Arena
Sirens-of-Titan replied to kris kelvin's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Dear Kris Kelvin; You have built something that transcends traditional LEGO builds in more ways than I can list out! The subtle design, the realistic board, the incredible creative direction and of course the working features make this a LEGO masterpiece. My hat's off to your tremendous ingenuity and imagination sir! -
Excellent creation! At first it looked like a Warhammer hive tyrant, but I see your inspiration is quite different. Nonetheless a very smooth and pleasant look and a masterfully sculpted face; even in bricks the amine style is evident!
-
What a beautiful rendition of an elven temple metalslime! The main gate is very elven indeed with the smooth curves, crisscrossing patterns and the beaming white color! I love to see fantasy MOC's and yours does not disappoint, keep on building in this style, I'd love to see a full building done in this way. Keep on building!!

New Kingdoms sets delivered from TRU!
Sirens-of-Titan replied to Inkog's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thank you for giving us an early peek at these new sets! Much like the HD pictures these don't show any new hidden surprises but instead make me want the sets more and more. The new armor for the dragon knight is very neat, and now dragon knights can have a hierarchy or some other organizational structure to be distinguished by their armors. The most useful items here are the new civilian torso (finally! ) and the new king body print which looks like the most authentic regal wear i have ever seen on a minifigure. BTW you got a great deal on those armors; I got mine at 1.75$ each and though it was a decent deal but yours is to die for! -
D2C Contest: Professor Hale's Oasis Hacienda
Sirens-of-Titan replied to Rufus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
What a beautiful and creative entry Rufus! The color scheme is immediately pleasant to the eye and the smoothness of the facade is akin to hacienda architecture! The oasis is a very neat touch to augment the feel of a refreshing spot in the desert. What really knocks it out of the park for me is the interior: So much thought about art and functionality has gone into the layout which looks like a functioning and livable environment for the professor to inhabit. From his office with the small bookshelf to the kitchen with the corner sink, to the epic stairwell complete with trophies from archeological expeditions, this is a very tidy and very pleasant build! You should revel in the glory of this work! Good luck in the contest although I know this entry will do quite well! -
Pirates has been reinvented and brought to life in the POTC sets, which is cause enough for pirate fans to rejoice even if we get fleshies instead of yellow figures. As far as a fantasy Wild West theme, I don;t think they can screw us up that bad, unless it includes cowboys vs native American mummies! I don't see that happening though. Historic themes are looking good with 2 solid years of human vs human struggles.

Just got this yesterday and Barbossa's torso and leg printing is a beauty to behold! The little cove is nothing special but all the parts in this series in natural earth tones like dark blue, dark tan, dark red and dark brown really give this a very different tone than classic pirates had; darker, more realistic and of course very cinematic. i don't mind the new pearl coins, it's a relief for me to know that they won't chip and wear like chrome coins do.
-
Just got my hands on two of these yesterday and the body prints of all the figures are beyond beautiful! There is not a single bland or useless part in it, and th globe in person has such a charm!
-
Wow! I'm a big fan of Sir Pratchett's work and this does it a incredible justice! You have a superb eye for making microscale models; all the lines in the elephants, turtle and the world are natural and realistic despite their small size! You have picked the perfect bricks/color choices for every single stud it seems and some incredibly subtle yet effective techniques add up to an amazing build over all! A+++ I hope you do more of these!
-
Excellent pagoda lisqr! I see you've used the weight lifter's dumbbell piece to make the top spire; a very neat idea. I would have said that could be the inspiration behind the whole model but I see you've been working on the idea for a while, so it's a great transition to micro-scale. The lanterns are also a nice touch! I hope you get the bricks to build the LDD version as it will be a truly impressive size for a MOC!

The elf and spartan by far are crowd favorites; for myself I have to say the elf because it is a callback to the fantasy line, offers unique accessories and is the only one of the 4 that has never been in a theme/set (Counting the POTC line as musketeer lookalikes, the spartan helmet in the Atlantis temple and the good old forest men) I believe that if LEGO released either: A) A Roman Legionary B) A conquistador C) A black falcons knight Then we will have an army builder figure that will surpass all of the ones so far. Here's hoping!
