General Discussion and Announcements

New game sign up is here. Theme to be announced. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=77887 -
This is the sign up to the game after the current game, Heartlake Heartbreak. It will not begin until that game is over, and this sign-up page is so that I can get this game ready while on my vacation, and not a comment on the status of that game. As those of you who ‘know’ me here on the board, I like to do things my own particular way. There are lots of ziggers here, and I’m an uncompromising zagger, for better or worse. So, I’d like to do sign-ups for this game in my particular, zaggy way. It has been the custom of hosts here to try to allure you with a promising game theme, and then try to shock you with increasingly complicated twists and random roles. Well, I will do the opposite. I will propose to you the major twist of the game in advance, and should you agree to take part, you will hopefully be pleasantly surprised by the theme when it so appears. Allow me to break it down in an easy to understand FAQ. UNTITLED MAFIA GAME FAQ 1. Will it actually be called “Untitled Mafia Game” in a po-mo meta sort of style? No. Po-mo is so outré. 2. Is this game actually Bloodbrick III? No. Bloodbrick is retired until he is needed in the future. I will say that this will be a spiritual successor of sorts, with lots of mentalness, but no walruses. 3. What’s the gimmick? Good question! Here’s the situation. The scum will be broken down into two teams on the same side. One team of killers, and one team of recruiters. They will not know each other, and will at no point be confirmed by the host by any night actions. They will be able to recruit a higher number than average. 4. Hey, that’s no fair! The scum will totally outnumber the town! That’s not a question, but let me address it anyway. In the early days, scum will be likely to work against each other as they try to appear ‘town.’ The killers are likely to either kill a recruiter or one of the few recruitable players in their early blindness. Recruitable players will be a minority and if they are successfully recruited, subsequent actions are less likely to be successful. So, that balances out their number bonus, in my opinion. 5. Alright, but won’t they kick megablocks once they unite? Yeah, but that’s why it’s town’s job to not let them do that. On top of that, I will in no way confirm their allegiances until the game is won. Neither scum side will have any investigation ability that reveals the identity of the other side. Nobody wants to confess to being scum because it's too risky, and it will be all good townies job to infiltrate the scum trying to get to each other. If town is lazy, the scum will steam roll them anyway, but this game is quite winnable on both sides. 6. So will the scum try to appear town, while the town tries to appear scummy to lure scum out? This is not “the Departed” mafia, and I can’t say what people will do. I do hope scum will think twice about who they kill, since the players they are most afraid of being town could very well be on their team. Likewise, town will have to make some sorts of claims that they are scum, even if it could backfire and get themselves lynched. Both sides will need to reevaluate their strategies. 7. Are you going to megabluck any of it up? Of course, not on purpose, but lessons are always learned. Adding on to my own lessons from past games: Bloodbrick I no photographer role <okay> only one single neutral SK role <probably> Bloodbrick II don’t delineate kills that use neutral night actions (were something like that to appear)<okay> Hopefully the roles in this one are simple enough not to screw up. 8. Will you have any other gimmicky stuff in it? Yes. There will be some little surprises, but nothing that should be game-changing. Game-influencing would be a better term, but they will mainly be there to keep each day fresh. No hints or anything though. And there will be a nights thread so you folks don’t have to be quiet at any point if you don’t want to. 9. Anything else? Yeah, there will be a "night zero," meaning everyone with night actions will be able to send some in and hit the ground running on day one. We'll hit it fast and hard. 10. Should I sign up? Yeah, of course. The things I’d ask of you is to be active, and make gambits to win the game, and not merely be just along for the ride. Please sign up by stating so in this thread, and if you like, you can also brag about all your past experience too ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rules (deviations from the normal EB rules are struck-through) 1. Each player will be given a character to play, who will be aligned with either the Town or the Scum. To win the game, the Town must kill off all the Scum, while the Scum needs to (knowingly) outnumber the Town. Third-party (neutral) characters have their own win conditions as outlined in their roles. 2. Each day you will be able to vote to lynch a player. Voting will be done in the following format; Vote: Character (Player). Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format; Unvote: Character (Player). No other format will be accepted. A majority vote is required to lynch a player. The player with the most votes will be lynched. In the case of a tie, the mayor will decide the lynch, through their vote, or by PM if necessary. Voting is mandatory. Failure to vote will incur a vote penalty the following game day. 2.5. A mayor will be elected in the first 24 hours of the game day one. Voting for the mayor will be done in the following format: Mayor: Player. Unvoting for the mayor will not be allowed. One may vote for themselves. In the case of a tie, the first person to achieve that number will win. In the case that the mayor loses their life, a new mayor will be elected in the first 24 hours of the following game day. The mayors single duty will be that of tiebreaker. 3. A game day will last a maximum of 72 hours. You may not vote in the first 24 hours. The day will end when a majority vote has been reached after 72 hours. In the case of a unanimous vote, the day may end 24 hours early. After the day has been concluded, a night stage will commence, which will last 24 hours (or 48 hours if an emergency comes up). Night actions must be sent to the host in the first 24 20 hours of the night stage. 3.5. Players may not target the same player two nights in a row, and may not target themselves. 4. The alignment of lynched players, as well as any that died during the night, will be revealed at the beginning of the next day. 5. You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to you by the host via PM. That includes all the details of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but in your own words only. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage. 6. Do not play the game outside the thread. Similarly, do not post out of character inside the thread. Game tactics and roles may only be discussed in the game thread or via PM with other players. Private discussion is done at your own risk and should be treated as part of the game. 7. If you are dead, you may not post in thread or discuss the game with any of the players. Any information you had becomes void, and may not be passed on. 8. You may not edit your posts. 9. You must post in every day thread. 10. If you encounter a problem or have a question, please contact the host via PM 11. Violation of the above rules may result in a 5 vote penalty vote penalty per every 4 living players against you, and death upon further offense.

Fine. In that case, if you think a joke isn't funny, don't call someone a douche. It makes you look like, well... -

Who were we going to lynch tomorrow yesterday? It's a day by day thing. Oscar laid out a lot of info for us. Feel free to start being town and interpret it for us. -

Facepalm. But every scum says the same thing, so statements like that mean nothing. So, about your action framer, why do you think it appeared for the first time on day seven? Why do you think they chose you to frame? It's your only defense so far, so why not give us all a laugh and elaborate on it a little? -

You were cleared by a cop, which doesn't clear godfathers. And you were caught using an action. There are no action framers. I thought it was scummy when you used your lunch on me, after thinking me townie enough to tell you had one. That's it for me, I'm never accepting another "I'm a confused noob" excuse ever again. Not worth the trouble. -

Sara, you targeted someone. You said you had no action, you're caught! And no, I'm not Rawlf. I think Oscar has confirmed that's Patty. I was leaning town on you for a while, mainly as that you were playing a noob game, but it would be better to call it an under the radar one. The ironic thing is, the godfather is the only scum who can play out in front. Oh well. You lied about your action, and aren't even bothering to make an excuse why those results came up. Good bye. Vote: Sara (boy wonder) -

Is the hider still around? Their verifications are better than a cop's one. I'd appreciate it to know all cleared by them... If you can without giving their identity away. And by the sound of it, you've caught the last scumbum. Claiming no action, then being caught using one? That's a paddling if I ever heard one. -

Hmmm. Unfortunately, making the next call is going to rest heavily on Oscar's shoulders. There are others who are quiet, but they are supposedly doing behind the scenes work with Oscar, so I'm not as comfortable calling them out for being lazy. I really hope some useful results come in... And being that there was no kill, there's a chance of that. -
It's frustrating, but I know for Japan, it's improved a lot in the last five years. Japan is now getting about 90% of things released here, and the prices have mostly dropped. In 2008 they were often double, and now they're about 20% higher. Lego has also opened a Japanese language web site, and opened the first Lego amusement park in Tokyo. It's not a Legoland, but it's a start. Ideally, Lego would like to have stores in every country in the world, but they need to go step by step. I imagine the economy of the Philipines is small enough that it's a lower priority, after Japan, China, and Korea. But it'll come one day. Just stay strong. And as said, eBay, or whatever online auction is popular there, is a good alternative. And in 2008, I was able to make a few orders a year off of Bricklink and save 30-40%, even with shipping. The collectible minifigs are still half price on Bricklink. There are ways.

The superhero sets with the best builds for me were the Superman/Wonder Woman/Lex mech set, the cosmic cube escape and the Joker Funhouse. But you'll need to get the Hulk breakout one, since everyone needs a Hulk.
-
Personally, I haven't been impressed with the superhero sets. I love the mini figures, but the builds themselves don't mean anything to me. Arkham Asylum may change my mind when I get it. If you're an adult with your own spending money (which it sounds like),all roads will lead to the modular buildings. They are the most complex and satisfying builds you can buy. The only problem is you'll be disappointed you can't get them all, since the price of them goes up so drastically when they're discontinued. For your interest in Harry Potter and Tolkien, probably Prince of Persia would be interesting. Also the Pharoah's Quest line was quite good. I've always been interested in lines showcasing world cultures though.

I was expecting something small and intimate when I opened this link, and was pretty blown away. I love the architectural details you've used, and particularly like your use of off-color bricks to get a natural feel. Great job!

Heartlake Heartbreak - Day Six: Under Pressure

I find Mike giving his lunch to Oscar on day one suspicious. We've already seen that Tammy and Daisy tried to ingratiate themselves to Oscar early on. Likely, in their scum plans, that was an early strategy. I can believe Mike would take part in his lazy way. Add to that, when Daisy was having her tantrums, she quickly gave a little of it to Mike too, but for no real reason. It's plausible that it was a plan to keep distance between the two. The only 'pro-town' thing I can say for Mike is that he voted for Daisy...when there was no threat of a lynch, which can also be a scum ploy. Her attitude today is townie enough, but it's also exactly what Ginny was lectured for not doing yesterday, so I can see it being intergrated into Mike's plan today. Mike, why don't you say who is a better lynch than you? -

Because they were wasting their time trying to kill Oscar on night four? They did kill someone else who Daisy thought was the doctor on night three. -

Thanks, town will get right on clearing you, ASAP. ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ That's gotta be the weakest excuse I heard in all my years on the job. As I said to Ginny yesterday, if you're vanilla, you need to work overtime to let people know you're town. Mike, you know this. You totally know this. And if you make excuses that you don't, you're likely scummy. I accept no excuses from you ever.
