  1. Sorry, you were a dip, writing dumb stuff. I thought that was a pretty soft name to call. You think dipshit is appropriate? Really? It was a pun? Not to make fun of your English at all, but how is that a pun? If you can't fluently speak English, there is going to be a lot more communication problems in the future. So you were joking when you said you didn't think both women would be scum? I'm going to get pretty tired debating with someone who can't understand what I'm saying much less what they are saying themselves .<Anybody else, could you tell this was a joke?> That is a plausible conditional statement. Since I'm not, no, I don't know. And I'm not all that convinced by the dumb routine. Who claimed that? I said I said things related to the situation, not importance. Again, do you have difficulties with the English language? It's not an insult if it's not your first language. Let us (and me) know, to save us all a lot of miscommunication problems in the future. Read day one and figure it out. I'm not going to hold your hand. Great to see you aping others, yet again. Oh, so it wasn't because he looked scummier. It was because we needed to lynch. Ping! Who are my friends? Can I have a list? The only argument for Malcolm right now is that he is willing to make a stir in thread. Against, well, there's a few pings he's racking up. Ping. I'll give a freebie on Claire: a scum voted #2 against her, when there was no bandwagons at all. That seems unlikely if Claire's scum (a better idea than that there can't be two female scum members, IMHO). Logically, the scum wouldn't vote that way, unless they were super devious and planting seeds to trick us later. As for Christopher, I ask you to read the thread and see why I came to that conclusion. I'm not going to vouch for him, but early on, it's helpful to lean one way or the other if you can, based on behaviour.
  2. What? First of all, the gender of characters has zero to do with alliance. This is one of those cases where I wonder if a player could really be so clueless as to float this as a real proposal. Or is the word stupied? And no, we don't know what loyalty you are. Forgive me if I don't take your word. Really? They were all fluff? Do you know what fluff means? Pretty much everything I said was related to the situation, and not just, "Oh noes! Let's catch some spies!" I voted for you for trying to be active while saying nothing. You're not helping today either. I explained my reasons pretty starkly in public, so don't consider asking me to repeat myself as a form of activity. Claire, was unusually inactive. As I said, in my unfluffy explanation, the last time this situation came up, the two least active people on day one were scum. A lot of scum put their heads down and hope the town squabbles among itself... Which is unfortunately what happened with Jerry. Jerry used bad logic about Trevor, and contradicted his own story, which is not something townies, much less Jerry, usually do. Right now, I'm leaning town on Claire, Trevor, Christopher, and Jeremy (for reasons that you would know if you read the first day carefully; let's make it a game! Can you figure out why? Hint: it involves the vote and Adrienne's scum result). That leaves Monty, Philip, Malcolm, Edward, and Boris as the ones I want to look at more. You voted for Jerry after me. Hmm. Interesting. Let's look at why you voted for Jerry: So we needed to lynch. Hmm. I said that day one. You thought Jerry was more scummy than Monty. Really? Can you elaborate why? Because today you think Monty is suspicious. Hmm. Ping. It's called typing, you dip.
  3. I wrote a post, and now I can't see it. Must have closed the window before it was sent. Long story short, good call vig (it's unlikely to be a SK at these numbers). I think Patrick was chosen mainly because he was unlikely to be watched or protected. Or to take pressure off of Monty. More likely the first though. If you are town, there was zero chance you would be killed by scum. Lots of people are suss on you. Scum will gravitate to people that aren't being actively suspected. This doesn't clear you either way.
  4. Maybe, or maybe a last minute chance to be part of a scum lynch, so you can claim to be working for town. Jerry's done for, so no use placing your vote elsewhere. Sorry, didn't see days end.
  5. Hmm, now that I'm home, I have a chance to check the record, and yeah, you said that the investigator would investigate Trevor. I think it's great to voice suspicions, and but I don't think it's good to mislead the whole town, much less completely contradict yourself. Good job reading
  6. Jerry, vote for whoever you like. I'm not stopping anyone. Nor am I trying to. If you think it's a good idea to vote for someone with no votes, go for it. I personally think it's a useless gesture, and so I'm going to let it be known. You can call that manipulation if you like, I call it being sensible.
  7. Wow. That was interesting. I didn't say placing a vote was misleading, I said it was a wasted vote/non-vote, since it isn't going to lead to a lynch. That "misleading the town is scummy" comment referred to you, midleader! People can vote for whoever they want, but they should know a vote for someone nobody else is voting for isn't helping in the last hours of the day. Those types of votes need to be done early. You did specifically say that Trevor's claim would waste an investigation (I'm pretty sure I quoted you saying that). And you ignore the risk involved in making a false claim day one, despite it being pointed out to you. What would lynching him prove? If he came up scum, we'd know you were town, but if he comes up town, we'd mainly know that most of the town assumed a day one claim to be true... Except for you. At the same time, if you turn up scum, we'll be fairly sure Trevor is town. I had thought Claire had two votes when I placed mine, but it seems the best choice today, at this point, is Jerry or Monty. Monty is erratic, but Jerry has been saying a lot of faulty logic, and twisting words when the what was said was there to see. Unvote: Claire Vote: Jerry (JimBee) It's called 'playing.' I look forward to you trying it sometime I do agree with Jerry that it would be good if Trevor woke up.
  8. Where did I say they couldn't voice suspicions? I said they could voice suspicions without wasting a vote. Misleading the town is pretty scummy. You not being able to understand things is a trend today. You still haven't explained why the investigator would waste an investigation on someone who already claimed they'd be investigated as scum. Can you explain why you think that is?
  9. Starting a new lynch on Christopher this late in the day is throwing your vote in the garbage. There can't be a lynch on him now without very strong reasons to motivate everyone. If you think he's scummy, saying so will give him the push he needs. No reason to waste your vote doing so. I haven't seen a tally for a while (at work, on my phone, so I can't research much), but I think a vote not for Claire, Jerry, or Monty (they are the vote leaders, if I recall correctly) is a kind of non-vote. No, because he's starting a new lynch at a late point in the day. It's a guaranteed non-lynch. I know you've gotten rusty at these things, but is there any chance of a Christopher lynching today?
  10. So Monty, you definitely don't want a lynch today. Noted.
  11. I'm tempted to switch my vote. Malcolm is scummy (as is Jerry, but I doubt both are scum) but I'd be happy to get rid of a non-participator like Claire. In my experience, they are scum about 50% of the time. In fact, last time we had one of these situations, the two lowest participators on day one were scum. If the town is fighting amongst themselves (since not everybody being accused so far can be scum), there is little motive to get caught up in the discussion. Actually, I've convinced myself. Unvote: Malcolm Vote: Claire (Calanon)
  12. Half the place isn't voting, isn't playing. Should we just hand it over to the scum now?
  13. You don't think Jerry is scummy but you voted for him? Then you take the vote off the moment you're called out for it? Personally, I don't think you are scum per se, but I at least think you're scummy. If you though you weren't scummy, I wouldn't want to poke you. That's bad acting, bad reasoning... Great that you're keeping an eye on me. And on Jerry who thinks you're scummy. That old 'he thinks I'm scummy therefore he is scummy,' strategy. AKA the badboy technique. If only we can get all the scum to call you scummy, you'll have this wrapped up in no time flat!
  14. Great, so you won't vote. We can unvote as much as we like, so there's no harm in placing votes to see who thinks who is suspicious. In later days, these early votes can show where people's heads were at early on, after they have been revealed as town or scum. Unwillingness to place votes on day one is, in my opinion, unwillingness to help the town. After this, we will have to take a look at the non-participators (at this point, especially Steward and Philip). They too can often be scum. Keep your mouth shut, and hope the town just squabbles among themselves.
  15. If anyone else feels like voting, by all means, the time is now. Including Malcolm.
  16. So how is he drawing a investigation to himself? Who would claim to him?
  17. Why would the investigator waste their action on someone who has already said they'll come up scum? How does that get him in a town block? Who would claim to him for claiming miller? How did he claim to be undoubtedly town? Did I miss something? He just made a role claim, that could be countered if he were lying, which is risky. Nothing you're saying adds up, unless you were scum, and knew he was town... Hmm.
  18. So you really think a scumbum with not a word of suspicion thrown on them would draw that much attention to themselves? It seems pretty unlikely to me. I'd estimate a 90% chance he's telling the truth. At the least, he's a poor day one lynch. Early claims without any pressure to force them out are usually true. What if he was scum, but there was another miller (we've seen millers before here)? That miller could just step up and nail him. Pretty risky in a situation with so few of us. No, he's probably town. * another a real
  19. It's pretty hard to say something when there's nothing new to discuss. One of good things about having a gimmick in a game is that it gives people something to talk about other than submarine jokes. Anyway, we have to get this thing started somewhere: Vote: Malcolm (Mencot) Nobody's saying anything much, but Malcolm is working hard to say nothing to every person here. It might be that he's fluffier than most, but it might be that he wants to look super busy up front to keep his name off the voting list.
  20. Ah, troubled yet again by the Red Menace. Let's see if we can't just wipe them out in two days, beating the old record
  21. There was a time when a mafia game brought out 40 applicants. The times have changed.
  22. megabluck it. You need players, and even if I only play half the time, it'll be twice as much as some. Deny me if you fear I won't participate (I promise I won't have time to keep notes this time 'round though). 1. What is your experience playing mafia games on Eurobricks? There is a reason people talk about 'Speedy'. 2. Will you be able to post frequently and keep up with night action deadlines for the 6-8 weeks? Relatively. 3. What is your favorite submarine-themed movie? The only one I've ever seen is Kelsey Grammer's hilarious 90's tour de force, Down Periscope, so it wins by default. Bob, you better hope we're on the same team. If not...
  23. I logged in just to chat about this. An interview with him was posted on AICN today, and he just totally misses the point of what is interesting about LEGO. http://www.aintitcool.com/node/67922 So much of what makes LEGO cool is the abstract quality of it. I never bought it because it was 'real.' These sets are infinitely less MOC-able than the average Star Wars set. The guy just doesn't understand the point of building blocks, or else it's just him laying on PR shill. Either way, my opinion on the guy doesn't change: McFarlane is an egotistical douchebag. He has done some good with the quality of his sculpts when his toy line first came out, and McFarlane Toys really did up the quality of all action figures when they broke out, but I just find him so loathsome overall. Not worth listing the reasons why, since it's irrelevant to the topic. Anyway, this 'block' toy won't be cutting into LEGO's profits whatsoever. It'll be cutting into the diorama market, and maybe the plastic model market.
  24. I would love to play, especially as a follow up to Tammo's last game, but A) I'm claustrophobic and afraid of submarines and B) flying back to the homeland at the end of the month, and it would be better not to spend that time staring at my phone getting frustrated over mafia. Good luck!
