  1. Please note, once the game starts, editing posts will incur a penalty. The reason being, if you blurt something in public, it must be on record, and if you edit your posts, you're basically editing history. In this thread is fine, but so you know, editing, even just for a spelling mistake, will incur a penalty.
  2. People not using an avatar yet should at least be putting it into their signatures.
  3. Roles have been sent. If you didn't get one, let me know. If you don't understand your role, let me know. Day one is tomorrow.
  4. So once again, no quotes are needed. You are simply speaking. And please know, once the game starts, editing your post brings a big penalty. Never edit posts in game
  5. Lesson one: Mafia is not Heroica. Your post is what you are saying. When you say, That's your character, in game, speaking in third person. No need to describe your actions, no need for quotes. The role playing of mafia is a different beast than from Heroica.

Each player will be given a character to play, who will be aligned with either the Town or the Scum. To win the game, the Town must kill off all the Scum, while the Scum needs to outnumber the Town. Third-party (neutral) characters have their own win conditions as outlined in their roles. 2. Each day you will be able to vote to lynch a player. Voting is mandatory. Voting should be done in the following format; Vote: Character (Player). Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format; Unvote: Character (Player). No other format will be accepted. A majority vote is required to lynch a player. Failure to vote will incur a vote penalty the following game day. 3. A game day will last a maximum of 72 hours. You may not vote in the first 24 hours. The day will end when a majority vote has been reached after 72 hours. After the day has been concluded, a night stage will commence, which will last 24 hours (or 48 hours if an emergency comes up). Night actions must be sent to the host in the first 20 hours of the night stage. 3.5. Players may not target the same player two nights in a row, and may not target themselves. 4. The alignment of lynched players, as well as those that died during the night, will be revealed at the beginning of the next day. 5. You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to you by the host via PM. That includes all the details of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but in your own words only. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage. 6. Do not play the game outside the thread. Similarly, do not post out of character inside the thread. Game tactics and roles may only be discussed in the game thread or via PM with other players. Private discussion is done at your own risk and should be treated as part of the game. 7. If you are dead, you may not post in thread or discuss the game with any of the players. Any information you had becomes void, and may not be passed on. 8. You may not edit your posts. 9. You must post in every day thread. 10. If you encounter a problem or have a question, please contact the host via PM 11. Violation of the above rules will result in a 5 vote penalty vote penalty per every 4 living players against you, and death on your second offense. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Okay, I need to go to bed. Roles will go out tomorrow. In the meantime, why not start playing? Put your avatar on. Get in character. Your character is not the character of your avatar, but a person dressed as that character. I will go over some fundamentals in the course of the game, but you can get a good idea of some here: http://www.eurobrick...3 In advance, I want to apologise if this ends up seeming like a budget game. I won't have a fantastic MOC or anything. I'll manage a fun game, but the main goal is to get some new players, and make sure they have the fundamentals. Basically, this is something I threw together in a very, very short span of time. Since the rules of a game like this are so simple, the LEGO stuff takes up way more time than the actual planning of it... And to be honest, I haven't sorted out my mini-figs from the last time I hosted a game a year ago. It's such a pain to find out what goes where. Regardless, the essence of mafia is play, not LEGO. For now, this is the best time to role-play. None of you have your allegiances, so you can honestly interact and 'be yourself' without arousing suspicion. Get a handle on being 'in character.' Role PMs should be out tomorrow night. It's near midnight here, and I work from 9 to 9 tomorrow, so I should be able to get them typed and sent before bed tomorrow night. Daddy's gotta put food on the table.

  8. When a When a game starts, all the rules are posted in the first post, so there should be no doubt.
  9. That is a Flash guide to mafia. If you want to look at Flash on iPhones or iPads, download the Puffin browser, https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/puffin-web-browser-free/id472937654?mt=8 Safari on those products won't display Flash
  10. It's the mini-fig avatar that will be 'you' in the game.
  11. Jluck had the gist of it. For me, attitude is everything. Being a good sport is playing to the end, even when you're not playing, meaning that you're following the game, trying to figure it out. There is a hidden dead area that I hope players keep participating in even when they're out. If you show a) an interest and b) comprehension, you should make it through. In the confirmation thread, I'll be posting about things in general I want to see, but in the meantime, this is something to consider: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/610087 Okay Going to do the minis now.

Brickelodeon f I have to finish a comic page I'm working on by October 1. When that's finished, I will be preparing the mini-figs, taking the photos. Still accepting sign-ups up until the confirmation thread goes up. Expect the game to start on the weekend sometime.
  13. So the sign ups will end September 30, a few days left. 16 players is a healthy game, but the more the merrier. If any of you playing know anyone on Eurobricks who hasn't played, suggest it to them! If you've been playing here over the last few years, you'll notice that mafia on EB has peaked. Zepher's mafia five years back had, like, 45 players. My first game had 30, with a bunch of people waiting as subs. Recently, 20 player games have been harder to organise. We need new blood. Mafia is really fun. You won't play it forever, but most people get hooked for a year or two. If you know someone who hasn't caught the bug, invite them. We'll all benefit.
  14. Your input is noted, thanks!
  15. Alright, 16 is enough for a healthy game. We can take a few more players (hint hint, anyone out there who wants to give it a shot). I'll keep this open till the end of the month. 1. Adventurer1 m/f 13. Lord Duvors m 14. Xenophobic Monoxide m 15. mencot m/f 16. Cutcobra m/f Before we start, let's talk about what you folks want in the game. I haven't set up any roles or anything yet. I'm going to describe this as though you all know nothing about mafia (since I have no idea what experience new players have). There should be a roughly 3:1 town:scum ratio, which would be 12 town, 4 scum. With that, roles would be, loosely: Town -doctor (protects from kill each night) -cop (investigates whether a player is town or scum) -blocker (prevents a player from using a night action) -9 vanillas (no night action) Scum -Godfather (reads as town to the cop, no night action) -2 Goons (one of which must perform a night kill) -blocker (same as towns) At 16 players, that's a pretty plain set up, and to be honest, the one I'd recommend. It would normally last about 4-5 game days. If you wanted to add a serial killer (very common in EB games), I can, but that would weigh things to the town or scum. Since the SK is most likely to kill town (roughly 3:1) I would make it 12 town, 3 scum, 1 SK. But, scum would get an extra role (maybe a role cop of sorts, to confirm if someone has a night action) and town might get a weak doctor to prevent the SK kill, or a psychiatrist to 'cure' the SK, or a one-shot vig. That would complicate things a fair bit without being outrageous. Any opinion on how simple of a game you'd like to play?

When's the next one?!" since Mafia School is about twice a year.
  18. Star Wars was around from 1999, and didn't save the day, though I'm sure it was still profitable. I've read the history, either here or elsewhere (probably in one of the many business reports around the time of the Friends launch), but the key points in getting out of the red were getting rid of everything not related to brick building (i.e. jewellery, theme parks <now licensed out>). I remember one of the production costs were a huge variety of bricks. The company had made so many molds of pieces that they used to make from a few common bricks. They cut down the number of bricks in production by half (this is by memory, forgive me if that number is off). They streamlined a lot. It made all their sets more profitable. They really are an impressive success story. Regarding the original topic, as much as they had some weak products at that time, they still produced some lines that were solid in this era. I love the Adventurer and Ninja lines from this time. The company just suffered growth bloat.
  19. The number of players will be equal to those who apply.I don't see it ballooning to 30 or anything.
  20. Want to play mafia on Eurobricks but have no experience? Already a player, but want to play a simple, no frills mafia game? This is your chance. Anybody can play, but you must be willing to be online daily for the course of the game, which will occur over most of October. Post here with your desire to play, as well as if you are a male or a female character. Looking forward to some new blood!
  21. Do you play any differently as town?
  22. @Peanuts, I saw your question on the deadboard. We killed you night one since nobody would be watching or protecting you.
  23. That was strategy. In PMs to Technic, I kept going on about you not participating and not deserving to win. I needed to reflect that a little in thread. That was scummy of me
  24. Was there a dead board? I'd love to see it.
  25. Scum claim to me day one next game then
