I think that this looks very elegant and sleek. The dark blue and white are a beautiful combination. The overall design is a bit unusual in a very good way. How is the minifigure secured in the cockpit? I hope you do not mind if I put the colour combination in my mental library of useful colours and techniques for MOC'ing...

I think that this looks like a souped up and updated version of Blacktron! The combination of trans-neon green, black with the hints of lime green and a little touch of white really set this off and make it look meancing. Sorry that I cannot say anything that someone else said already. Its so good that I cannot some up with any areas of improvement.

As others have said, I do not really like the name, considering what it was. I am willing to forgive you for it, though. That aside, the overall construction of this mecha is refreshing. I like the short and wide route you went, instead of tall and thin. There is nothing wrong about either way, but you do not get much of this kind. This also looks very sturdy. The Orange goes very well with the light grey mechanical bits. Am I right in assuming that the windscreen came from the MM 7694 Trike? I like that. The weapons that this have make it a force to be reckoned with!

I don't really know what Robocop looks like, so I can't tell you if it is realistic to Robocop. But I can talk about the overall construction. It has a good amount of greebles, and is nicely asymmetrical. The built-in features are awesome. He looks very stable, and has a very good number of articulation points! I think you did very well.

my 1st post here just want to share my works :)
fossil1999 replied to TechPriest's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I love this! I really like the use of slightly different coloured pieces to break up the monotony of the hull, it makes it look very interesting! The whole thing looks very sturdy and well equipped(Firepower wise). -
I like this... I think that this is very much in keeping with the ADU colour scheme and build style. One little thing... ADU tends to have tinted windscreens(a darker trans-parent?) Aside from that, its perfect as far as I can see.

As only partly a joke, what about adding a "Should Lego bring MM back" OR "Do you like MM" question? As a MM fan, I would like to know once and for all the ratio of people hating MM to people liking/loving MM. On topic. This poll was a brillant idea, and so far it has shown some appealing stats. I see that few people want LEGO to make a military theme, which confirmed what I expected (personally, I agree with the people who said no). It is also rather funny to see the results of the "Should LEGO cut ties with shell" question. Most voters said "No strong opinion", less said "No", and even less said "Yes". The overall length of the bars (at the time of writing), resembles the side of a pyramid.

Thanks for replying. What you say about the canopy does make sense. What you say about the weight, it does seem that the bulk of the LL-129 is behind the rear landing gear leg, which looks more sturdy than the rest. I hope it works with real bricks!

Bricks and Minifigs shops - Have you visited one?
fossil1999 replied to 62Bricks's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Nope, I have never visited one. Too bad these shops do not have an online store-its cheaper(but then you have to deal with shipping(!)). I hope they get on well. -
Cornwall beaches where the tide brings in Lego
fossil1999 replied to williejm's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I still laugh everytime I see that post. On-topic, I feel sorry for the wild life who must be chocking on Lego pieces. Indeed, the containers should have had more 'clutch' power. At least the main factor in the incident, a freak wave, only happens 'rarely'. Too bad they don't use Lego bricks in the construction of the containers. They have more 'clutch' power. (Also, eurotrash should patent the 'clutch' joke, Graham Norton or David Letterman might steal it.)- 18 replies

I like the creative use of a windscreen under the minifigure. How does it connect? And I assume from the pics the minifigure sits on a hinge plate? Well done. I really like the design of the landing gear, it looks like it will be able to stow away well. Its just that... Are you sure it will hold the weight of the ship up? LDD does not have that testing function unfortunately. The overall design of the ship looks good, congratulations.

I was born in the late 90's, and I do not really "get" classic space. In my personal opinion, the classic space sets look sort of "Cute" and retro by todays standards. I feel that most of the people who support the return of classic space may be adults who remember the sets from their childhood and have been raised in a way to like the overall theme of classic space: Exploration, Not Conflict. I think that for classic space to succeed in today's youth culture, the construction of the sets has to be updated significantly. We can still keep the emphasis on exploration, which, if balanced with conflict and an update to the construction style of the sets, I think might succeed. Some of you might know Star Trek. If so, you will remember that it balanced exploration with conflict (Example, in the course of their explorations, they encounter a hostile species that brings the conflict into equation. Most of the times, the conflict is resolved peacefully by the end of the episode). I hope you understand, I was born long after the discontunuation of the Classic space themes, and have been raised in the 3rd millennium, with its culture that includes G.I Joe toys, Superhero movies, generally Si-Fi movies with lots of action, and more. In this century, conflict is a part of today's youth culture. Also, remember Lego tests its themes by bringing groups of kids into a room and watching which themes they play with the most. Those are the themes that go to the store shelfs. If today's kids were more interested in Si-Fi exploration, those would be the themes Lego would be focusing on. We need to change our culture. I hope my post was not too long. Edit:Typo and a pargraph.

Could 2014 Make Lego Fans Bankrupt?
fossil1999 replied to BrickBuilder3213's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It depends. Pretty much the only purchases I will make this year will be the 7644 MX-81 and around 30-40$ on bricklink parts(Wheels, windscreens, that sort of stuff). Edit: By the way, it is amazing how browsing thourgh bricklink makes the order cost go up! ("This only costs $3, I'll throw it in...What about this?...") -
There is no other word to discribe it...Beautiful... I really like the cockpit design, and the overall craft looks very sleek and gives a sense of being wise and powerful? Kind of like the impresson I get when I see and elf. Wise and Powerful.
-
Ok, thanks. I think it looks very sleek and sturdy.

Cool. I like all that use of SNOT techniques. I am wondering about that fan at the back. I was under the impression that for fans to work, they need have water passing through them?(Hope that makes sense) Overall, I think the colours and the angular windscreen give it a classic look. Well done.

[MOC] Technic Spitfire
fossil1999 replied to apemax's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow, I love it! The. Spitfire is actually one of my favourite aircraft. I can't imagine the amount of time and pieces that took! It looks like you got the propeller in the right proportion, and from the looks of it, I would not stick my finger in that. This has to be the most awesome lego airplane I have seen. I hope to see more! -
Add me, from Dublin, Ireland. :)

Nice! They all look very well built, and I especially like the greebling on the last Mecha! I do notice that you used parts from Mars Mission in your first Mecha pic, and thats my favorite space theme. All of your Mecha's and the large-flying-craft(Clarification please?) look sturdy and well built, and the fact you used a small brick collection makes them more awesome.

I regret not buying more than one 8014 Clone Battle Pack.

I think that you are thinking about today's Ion drives. Possibly in the 2040's they have Ion drives with faster acceleration, that, when paired with the energy crystals, is on par or better with today's high-speed Jet engines in terms of speed and acceleration (Remember, it is much more difficult to fly on Mars because of the extremely thin atmosphere and no oxygen. Jet engines need oxygen and a thicker atmosphere(Ideally), and while the thin atmosphere is not too much of a problem for some Jet engines (flying at ground level on Mars is like flying 117795 ft high on earth, assuming 600 Pascals on Mars), I would like to see Jet engines work with non-combustable(!) Carbon Dioxide, which is mostly what the atmosphere on mars is made of). Still, I understand the reasons for your counter-argument (which are valid). Your Gravitational Displacement Engine sounds interesting, but I doubt that it would exist in 2040, beause it sounds like Star Trek's Warp drive, and the show takes place in the 23rd-24th centueries (I should mention that in the Trekkie universe, the prototype Warp drive was invented in the 2060's). I suppose it is entirely possible that the Displacement engine could exist in the Blacktron era (see http://www.eurobrick...pic=76493&st=25, post 35). Did the astros not arrive on Mars before discovering the Jellies? I doubt your theory for that reason (Besides the cruelty of it. Even the Aliens do not deserve that! ). Keep the suggestions coming! :) Edit: Added a bit at the end.

Has anyone given any thought as to how the engines on Lego spaceships would work? My theory is that they use Ion thrusters (Which actually exist in a prototype form already). Take Mars Mission for example. I think that the energy crystals (Which are supposed to store huge amounts of energy) power advanced Ion Thrusters which are 1000's of time more powerful than todays. What are your theories? :)

Hi, new member here. Well, I would choose Mars Mission, but I know that it will never come back. Second might be Classic space in an updated form? Not sure, because I came long after that, if you know what I mean (I love MM because I love all things mars and space tech. Whats ironic is that I only first noticed MM in 2012(!) ). Third would be Alpha team (I am too young to have played with that too).
