Is anyone else having a "Princess Bride" moment?
-
AWESOME news! I was starting to wonder if those suckers were EVER going to show up!

Nice review. Thank you for taking the time to truly break this set down. It's a nice set but, IMO, the 2008 was nicer. There are just some INCREDIBLY LAME days in this year's calendar. Of course, with that said, yes, I'll be getting one. LOL The wizard is great...ALMOST good enough to forgive TLG for not releasing "The Good Wizard" in North America...almost, but not quite. Though the others are good, the only other real 'stand outs' for me are the queen and the prince (or whatever he is). Looking back at 7979 with its jester, wench, knight, soldier, dwarf, skellies, witch and troll, this year's advent just doesn't quite match up, IMO. It's good, just not AS GOOD as it should be, considering how long they've had to perfect it. 7979 was great, so this SHOULD HAVE BEEN 'awesome'...and it's not...again, IMO.

That is soooooooooooo sweet! Nice job!

*still waiting for series two to arrive in Canada* I have to say, I'm quite envious of folks who have completed their collections already and are moving on to collecting their 'multiples'.

Nice post. And, speaking only for myself, no...I most certainly would NOT be offended by having the 'Mountie' used to portray a Canadian. The RCMP is a proud part of our heritage and is an internationally recognized symbol of Canada. I would LOVE to see THOSE 'redcoats' in minifig form!

Good set...especially if on sale.

According to a 'retail locations' bookmark I have from them, the 'west end' locations are 4242 Dundas St. W in Etobicoke (Dundas W & Royal York 416-239-1600), 1011 Upper Middle Rd. in Oakville and 4099 Erin Mills Pkwy in Mississauga.

Great review. Thank you. I think series two looks AMAZING. Now, with that said, I think I prefer series one, from an 'army building' standpoint. Forestmen, Native Americans, Cowboys, Ninjas, Spacemen, Robots, Zombies, Cavemen, Cheerleaders, Nurses and even the 'Crash Test Dummy' are all worth snagging multiples and in most cases, MANY multiples. (I suppose you could add the 'diver' too, if you wanted a whole scuba team, or some such thing) For most of series two though, I think that 'one of each' is enough for me...except for the Spartan, of course.

A special Eurobricks Minifigures celebration is coming soon

I've heard everything from "third week of August" to "second week of September" for their appearance here in Canada. I believe NOTHING until I see them with my own eyes! -
I've read in a few places now that the Winter Toy Shop is available in Wal-Mart stores in the U.S. $20 more in Canada. What a scam! Our dollar is worth almost the same as the U.S.!

Except that when I logged on this morning, the TRU truck, level crossing and train station were all mysteriously 'out of stock'...even though they were all 'in stock' yesterday evening. Hmmm... Methinks that either a) someone's messing around or, b) there were a whooooooooooooooole lot of 'wee morning hours' shoppers out there. And of course, that truck isn't in my local area brick and mortar stores yet, so it's not like I can just run out and grab another. *sigh*

Product designers for LEGO Group - Making ideas into toys

Good luck to everyone who has made it to the next stage! Man, I'd have butterflies the size of a T-Rex... -
Yeah, I just received my TRU truck set YESTERDAY. Darn that "Murphy's Law". And yeah, I agree...ABOUT TIME more than 'just fire sets' went on sale for the City line.

Some very cool entries.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Ogre replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
I think it's rather funny that he says the 'Legend' line didn't sell well. Aside from how fast the 'collection' of BFF/GI/BS for the 'Castle' line sold, IMO, it's fairly obvious WHY that is: there's very little interest in the general LEGO-buying population for ONE set from a a line. Where does it go? What do you add to it? Where does it fit in? Etc., etc. BUT...if they were to release an entire LINE as a 'Legends' COLLECTION, well, that's a whole different ballgame. For example: the first offering of classic 'Space', or 'Blacktron', or one specific year of 'Castle' or 'Pirate' sets... Get away from the idea of "which SET deserves to be a 'Legend'?" and go with "what LINE deserves 'Legend' status?" A much better idea, IMO. -
Okay, so that wasn't as long as I expected...simply because TRU Canada switched from Canada Post to Purolator. LOL Of course though, "Murphy" had to bite me on the butt...starting TOMORROW, all 'City' is 20% off. *sigh*
-
20% off all 'City' at TRU Canada, the week of Aug. 13.
-
Hmmm...I wonder if Wal-Mart Canada will follow suit? I'll have to keep a close eye on their flyer the next couple of weeks.
-
Really? When I got that home and realized that it was a modular castle with a pretty crappy baseplate, I felt like I had been punked. I couldn't believe that 'this' was the direction they were taking the 'Castle' line, after so many cool castles in the past.

New Products BrickForge from BrickFair 2010 now available

I'm not surprised that stuff sold so quickly, especially those Space Marines. Quite sweet. I'm also not surprised that LEGO staff were drooling. There's some stuff there that TLG should have made YEARS AGO. -
Ordered #7848 from toysrus.ca yesterday. Now the long wait for delivery...

Yes.

"HOLY AWESOME PLASTIC, BATMAN!" *wiping drool from mouth* OMG, I LOVE those! I don't what I love more...the awesome centaur body, the hair, the guitar, the WICKED gladiator and knight figures... Seriously AWESOME job! Kudos and then some!
