    Canadian Eh?

Now available at www.toysrus.ca...#7848 My link Sorry, I should be more clear, I guess. When I said "everything" I meant "everything LEGO". I don't care about the cost of food...if it gets too expensive, I'll eat less.
  2. Pic was from a German Toy Fair. I can't find any reference to them outside of that though.
  3. Have to admit, I am SUPER-STOKED about a LEGO event here in T.O.! No borders to cross, no two-plus-hour jaunt out to 'hotel row' by the airport. Thanks for listing all of these events. It's nice to have a rough idea of what happens where and when.
  4. Anybody heard anything more on these? It's getting kind of late in the year, so I'm thinking maybe a 2011 release? (and I wish everyone 'out there' would get the figure right...it's LUKE, not Anakin!)
  5. Done, cuz that would be AWESOME! Agreed and done. I tell ya though...it's TOUGH trying to limit it to five of each category. I mean, I realize it makes me sound like a greedy pig but...I WANT ALMOST ALL OF 'EM! (especially trees in 'fall' colours...BEYOND COOL!)
  6. That's not so bad. I expected the Canadian price to be MORE than the Taj Mahal. Not that I can afford it, anyway.
  7. Personally, all that says to me is that those folks don't understand the concept of a 'battle pack'. Back when the original 'Space' blister packs were available, I had a hard time finding them, because they'd sell-out in my local toy store as fast as they'd come in...the double packs of 'the same character' and the mixed 'three pack'. And, as I mentioned earlier, the Imperial Dropship BP and the Rebel Speeder BP sold FAST in my area. I'd go to a TRU one week and they'd be fully stocked and I'd go back one week later and they were sold out. Also, the problem with getting 'specific' figures in BPs is the complete lack of use for them. I mean, just how many AT-AT drivers does one need? I have two AT-AT sets and they both CAME WITH drivers. So, okay, even if I did a MOC of the AT-AT head so that it could fit more than one driver...how many more would I need? I'm more interested in troop building my Snowtroopers. If that set was ONLY Snowtroopers, I would have bought twenty packs, no problem. As it is, I bought TWO, because I didn't want a whole pile of extra AT-AT drivers and Imperial Officers. With the old Space and Castle BPs, I always bought as many extras as my sparse allowance at the time would allow. Not so much with the Town ones though. Why? Because they were like these Star Wars ones...too many 'specific' characters...cop, firefighter, nurse...when I would have rather had generic townspeople. I could get all the cops and firefighters I needed in those sets. I didn't need more in Battle Packs.

    Canadian Eh?

That's what I don't understand. It costs next to nothing to ship to Canada in addition to the United States, our dollar is almost at par (and has been worth MORE than the U.S. dollar a number of times recently) yet, we pay 20%-50% more on basically EVERYTHING! And how come the U.S. gets the same price for Green Grocer, Fire Brigade and Grand Emporium but HERE, Green Grocer is $20 more? WTF is up with THAT??? I mean, it's not like it's being shipped FROM the states...we have a LEGO warehouse a fifteen minute drive from my house, on Mural St. in Markham! I've complained to LEGO about this and their 'answer' was that prices are set three years in advance, blah, blah, blah. Umm...okay, then how come they're basing their pricing on exchange rates from SEVEN years ago? Ugh. The only way I can keep my sanity on this issue is to refuse to even look at the U.S. pricing...and even then, it BARELY works.
  9. A friend of mine just sent me the link to this today! LOL! I'm glad I checked first, before posting the pics again. I think I'd go blind trying to do that kind of detail on a minifig!

Seems like that is ALWAYS on sale. Sheesh. Let me guess...it's not selling as well as TLG had hoped? Seems like the 'underwater' sets never do, because I always see them 'reduced' and 'on clearing pricing'. Aquanauts, AquaRaiders, Aquasharks... *yawn*
  11. Not SW specific ones (sorry for the confusion). I was referring to the old battle packs, from way back (before they disappeared). Anywhere from two to six figures (depending on whether boxed, or blister packed) in the Space, Castle and Town lines. No other junk in the packs, just figs and their accessories.
  12. I wish the SW battle packs were more like 'Castle' and 'Pirate'...five figs and weapons. No screwin' around! No crappy vehicles, no 'barely there' constructs...just TROOP BUILDERS! That's what battle packs USED TO BE and that's what they SHOULD BE. Hmph. That is all. Okay, so that's not all... I KNOW that the reason TLG includes very few 'troops' and includes other useless characters (AT-AT driver!) is to force you to buy more BPs but...here's the thing...do they NOT realize just how many friggin' BPs they'd sell if it was JUST Stormtroopers, or JUST Snowtroopers, or whatever? Heck, they came SOOOOOO close with that Imperial Dropship and those suckers sold out everywhere I went (not QUITE as fast for the rebel speeder but, not bad). TLG keeps getting too complex for their own good. Keep it simple and you'll sell more. Don't do what was done with the latest Pirates BP (Cpt, Admiral, monkey, teasure chest...). That was CRAP. Stick to how it's done for Castle. There's a REASON those Castle BPs sell out so friggin' fast!
  13. *sigh* Bummer. I was hoping that Brickset has somehow missed a set. I personally think that LEGO should re-release all of the old yellow Star Wars figs in the new tones (Lobot, t-16 pilot, etc., etc.)...maybe not as 'all new sets' but, at least include those characters in new sets. I know, I know...'dreaming'...
  14. I'm glad it's not just me who feels that way.
  15. Oh, sure...like there aren't already enough sets out there that I can't afford to purchase!
  16. And of course, another set that goes WONDERFULLY well with the Winter Toy Shop, Winter Bakery and 2009 City Advent Calendar is 10173, the Holiday Train...especially if you want to do that whole 'train layout under the Christmas tree' thing.
  17. If they're in the classic style. If they've got that goofy CW look, I'm not interested.
  18. Gotta go with the LEGO version, even though I REALLY dig the "Are you sure you want to mess with me?" look on Arealight's fig. To me, it's not about how much work went into it, what 'void' was filled, etc...it's about the figure. I don't like the curved torso. To me, all minifigs should have the standard tapered torso that has been around since the late '70s. Also, aside from recent custom headsculpts, 'hair' and 'head' have been separate pieces and I like that, because it allows you to use the head and hair for other figures/creations. Then there's the printing. Can't just be 'on top' and 'in front'...gotta have it all, IMO. So, though Arealight's ROCKS, I have to go with the official LEGO release. (AND I DON'T EVEN LIKE 'CLONE WARS'!!!!)

BTW...if anyone is looking for them...Amazon.ca got in a few Brickjournal Comp. #4. Not many though, as of yesterday. Going for $33.51 + tax, which is WAY more than the other volumes but, still less than the U.S. price listed at www.twomorrows.com, so... Update: Don't bother. I went back and checked just now and they're sold out. Only showing ones available from 'other sellers' right now. Keep on eye on it though...might be getting more.

Some of their stuff is priced to be competitive, sure. Other stuff, not so much so. What really cheeses my biscuits though, is when they release a set for the same price as LEGO (such as the little yellow mail van) for $9.99...then, a month or so later, it's $10.99...then it's $13.99... WTF is up with THAT? And, quite honestly, with the TRU mark-up on most items and the cost to bus it to my nearest location, I might as well order direct from LEGO S@H...especially when I call my local TRU stores to see if an item is IN STOCK and they assure me it is and I travel all the way down there, only to find out that NO, IT'S NOT! They only checked what their COMPUTER said, even though I asked them to PHYSICALLY check, due to having run into this problem before. Crappy staff can really make the buying experience VERY unpleasant. So, yeah, when you factor that into the cost difference and the cost to travel there, S@H usually makes more sense for me. Unless I happen to be near a TRU ANYWAY and decide to pop in to see what they've got.
  21. Yanno, I know folks who would PAY to be that organized! LOL Seriously...sounds like a lot of work but, it also sounds pretty freakin' awesome!

    City 2010

Yeah, that'll change shortly...says the same thing for Canada and the Canadian price on #3222 is $39.99 if anyone is curious. Still waiting for the Toys R Us truck to pop-up on S@H...if it's even going to.
  23. Umm...okay, I'm confused...it says right there in the ad "Boba Fett, IG-88, Dengar, Zuckuss and Bossk". 4-LOM got ditched.

    Canadian Eh?

What's even worse is, they'll then put them 'on sale'...and the sale price will still be more than the S@H price! LOL The general buying public must not do any 'comparison shopping' to fall for THAT mess. Speaking of the LGM promo...anyone know if we're going to get the 'Buzz Mini Ship' 30073) and 'Woody's Camp Out'(30072) sets here? I haven't seen, or heard, anything on them.
  25. Absolutely! It's one of the reasons I haven't picked up that set. What's the point of having ONE rail car? The set would have been better with NO cars, instead of just one!
