  1. Very nice initiative. A bog thank you from the people on my forum. Always the pictures. Boy do I hate video instructions
  2. Ermm... I can clearly see that combination in the third group (and on the same row!) Nice chart BTW
  3. Short answer: no way! Long answer: I don't think it makes any sense to have a 60$ motor package for a 40$ set. If things were the other way round (at least proportionally) I might start thinking about it.. Secondly, although the integration is fine, the final result is not exactly attractive. What I mean to say is, as an exercise in putting motors in a standard model it is great - as a MOC not so much. If TLG were to bring out something like some of the models Mahjqa posted things might be different, but even so I have to agree with him that there is nothing like designing something like that by yourself.
  4. There are a few corrections to spelling mistakes, but those are by no means the only, let alone the most important changes. Single pin continuous mode and Single pin timeout mode have disappeared from the document and there are substantial changes to Single Output Mode in which some signals seem to have been redefined, making me wonder if this new protocol will work with the existing IR Receiver or if these were actually not yet accessible and have been redefined before the protocol was put to use. Can anyone with more technical insight explain the implications of the changes?
  5. I'd add Sheepo's Bugatti Veyron with a fantastic 7 speed sequential gearbox Gallery at MOCPages
  6. my mistakes are not because the booklets are unclear (although colour identification is sometimes a problem) but because I build too fast and skip/forget/misplace one or more elemnts and then have to correct later on. I don't mind. Actually it can even be fun at times.
  7. Really nice! I so like seeing a picture in the announcement though...
  8. Hi there and welcome. Personally I don't keep my parts sorted by sets, but rather by type. For this I use a considerable number of something similar to this in different sizes: I also tried using these, but I soon found out they are not as practical as I thought. You can only fill them about half before they start spilling over
  9. Great job Jurgen! I haven't seen anyone mention this yet, but if you use the latest version of LPub (4.0.0.X) you will be able to build a pdf instruction booklet. It uses LDview or LDGlite for rendering so the renders aren't as spectacular, but more than adequate for instructions.
  10. A valid point although it doesn't apply in this case. TBs published on 14/02 and credits The NXT Step which published on 13/02
  11. From Monica's mail to TechnicBRICKs I'd say your entry was accepted ;) http://technicbricks.blogspot.com/2010/02/...y-got-mail.html
  12. Thumbs up for LEGO... and for all the AFOLs who participated because if there hadn't been such a big response LEGO wouldn't have seen the need of adding a prize for AFOLs. It's a pity the Technic Blog is not in any standard format though. I cannot add it to my blog reader :( BTW mahjqa, a pity they didn't show your flying machine... or did you not submit it?
  13. Nice. Have you tried using double bevel gears instead of simple bevel gears? Those are a lot stronger.
  14. it's quite obvious (supposing you mean you changed the 40t gear that turns the chain) in one turn the 40t gear advances... 40 teeth so 40 chain links. If you replace that with an 8t gear it will advance only 8 chain links per turn...
  15. Very nice and a cool feature being able to lift the third steering axle. However, that axle is a little too close to the next one I think, especially since there is a lot more distance between the 4th and 5th axle.
  16. Yeah, I know what that feels like. I didn't take a single picture of our display at our last event because I simply was too busy doing other necessary things. I'm sure our patience will eventually be rewarded.
  17. Amazing MOC! As Blkabird says, I miss pictures of the mechanical elements. Looking forward to video Footage (didn't anyone in your LUG or any visitors shoot any images?)
  18. You did a very nice job on the interior of the car!
  19. What a monster! As mentioned, the x16 engine looks like something that merits some close-ups of the configuration.
  20. Although the 16 tooth gear is most frequently used to translate movement sideways, there are many ways in which you can use a 16 tooth gear in combination with other gear sizes. I have a little contraption on my desk that meshes 16 tooth gears (z16 for short) with z20 and with z24. You can also make it mesh with a turntable (z56) or a wormgear (z1) to mention just a few other possibilities. To get some ideas on how to make gears work together have a look at this excellent resource: Tora no Maki
  21. Wow, does that walker bring back memories! I remember getting the book from my father and falling in love with the walker, but I only had two pneumatic pistons then and no way to get more. I used to just look at those instructions and my imagination would take over. I have to dig out the book and build it!!
  22. Not that I know of, but if you understand the principle it shouldn't be too hard to implement.
