  1. Can't seem to get access to the competition when I select UK - US will do it though. Anyone else have this problem?
  2. Don't know about the FTP site but the html version is now available at http://www.brickfactory.info/
  3. Thank you for the detailed response. I'm especially thrilled about the response time which was so crappy in Robolab I completely gave up on it. I had that link somewhere in my bookmarks too, together with a now defunct link to an Active X interface... Does this mean I can run the code from the interface directly? In that case compiling the code into a stand-alone executable is an unnecessary luxury (still nice though)
  4. I'd love to get some more information on this? Do you have a specific envorinment or code subset for doing this? Any written information about it? Do I need to install only the freeware version of liberty basic or is there more to be done to get this to work? And examples, yes please. You've got me curious about the response times and I'd like to get some first hand information on that!
  5. As explained in this post at TechnicBricks in December and now available in the Education Brochure at the Offical LEGO Education website you're looking at an energy storage and energy display module that can be connected to the NXT for data logging. There is also a new e-motor with a 9.5:1 gearing ratio, a maximum torque of 4.5 Ncm and approximately 800 RPM no-load speed that could also work as an efficient generator. The first two don't have any practical application in a Technic MOC; but the e-motor might be good for something.
  6. Very nice to see an NXT on water. Great job!
  7. Some people say if there are no pictures, it didn't happen, but with Mindstorms, if there is no video it doesn't work
  8. As far as I know the cabin turns with respect to the treads
  9. Great MOC - I think it is highly unlikely.. unless there is a second part planned. The logical thing would be sign an agreement for a film that is still running.
  10. I've opened up a number of the old type switches (never tried the new type) and have never had a problem with leakage. I did find that the material used to keep the switch air-tight (the rubbery part that is inserted in the bottom centre of the actual switch) is made of different materials depending on when the valve was made and no amount of lubing will make the older switches work as smoothly as the newer ones.
  11. Have a look at this website too: http://nicolas.lespour.free.fr/_content/ttools.html It also features a gear ratio calculator, but in this case you can select the motor you power the gears with and the power source you use. The site is intended to calculate several parameters for Trial Trucks, including clearance
  12. Check the colour of the centre of the gear. There are at least three versions of the clutch gear and the oldest one, with a light grey centre has a much higher torque. You can see the difference here: full info: http://sariel.pl/2009/09/gears-tutorial/
  13. Nice MOC. The video IS a bit long though.
  14. Love it. A pity that it's impossible to build a compressor for this size, but the valves are nicely integrated too.
  15. The buggy instructions are also available at brickfactory http://www.brickfactory.info/ No other instructions though. Usually what was displayed on the back of the box were mainly 'inspirational models'. BTW, curiously the number on Brickfactory is 853 and 856 is the bulldozer:
  16. Looks like a good combination of the log loader and the snow groomer. A really nice model.
  17. Thanks for the update. Stunning as usual!
  18. So how about launching it using other means? We had some great fun with a plastic bottle half full of water and a manual pump for the bike....
  19. Thanks for mentioning the tutorial... I really need to make some time to work on parts 4,5 6... For those who really can't wait, much (though not all) of the information has been published in Hispabrick Magazine, which is available in Spanish and English at www.hispabrickmagazine.com In the latest issue (007) we also had permission from Sariel to include his excellent Gears Tutorial
  20. I'm curios to know what that harpischord sounds like.
  21. Much as I like some of your suggestions, I doubt LEGO will go far beyond what we are used to in the Technic line. Remember that a 10-year-old should be able to build something that can make it to the final so quite a number of the things that are proposed are probably much too complicated.
  22. Nice, didn't remember this particular model (pity there are no instructions like for most of the other models) Matthias Paul Scholtz built this Galting Gun No guiding system, but another way to use those same arrows.
  23. Alternatively, if you don't mind modding the part and don't want that much cable you can do it like this:
  24. I've seen similar price relations in a few online shops. Great to see Technic prices stay within the 'normal' range and that prices are lower than some anticipated.
