  1. Yeah I like it too! It has a nice clean look, however I doubt if that fits with a castle. Perhaps it's a good idea to use dark grey as well, and add more smaller details to the walls. But maybe that's just a matter of taste. Great job, and I hope to see more of you!
  2. Shame on you. I really like the Walrus drawing Hound Knight! As well the other drawings! I should take a look at this thread more often. I have been out of the customization business for a time.
  3. I'd like to finish the tournament soon, so I'll be fresh enough to join the contest!
  4. If bricks from Ohio can reach the Netherlands, then you also can travel to Great Britain.
  5. Yeah, we love stories! I like the vignette, there are some nice details in such a small space.
  6. Me want to go there! It's just like Bonaparte, high on the to-do list. I'm planning to visit it next summer along some other guys. It's a sad thing you couldn't visit the stern part of the ship. I hope the repairs are done when I am there. Looks like you had a great day! Thanks for the pics!
  7. And our ship designs you pesky dogs! Hmm... So you are an US privateer I guess? Otherwise you'll be hunted by me. :pir-skull:
  8. Remember this is a humble trading ship, without any high poop admirals on board so it wasn't that necessarry to put all kinds of furniture in the cabin. Thanks Captain Zuloo! Yeah we had a great day, we defenitely repeat that in the future! And so it is Paul, the cool thing is you see things on the ship you haven't noticed the previous time. That's the proof you can learn a lot from this forum!
  9. It sounds like you've started a nice project! Now let's hope it will be finished soon. Here is some stuff I have designed not long ago: the ship's bell, a small cannon and a lantern. I use minifigs as figureheads. A plain, black minifigure with golden accessoires like a crown, key and sword. It looks powerful and it's not too big. Also a handy tip: Experimenting! Try to find things out like techniques! Experiment with bricks and how to use them with advanced techniques. My ship for example: It started with this. After some time experimenting, the stern looks like this. Now it's this, in my opinion still not finished. (the oversized flag for example) The whole build of the stern took several months. Modyfying and changing things every day. I'd say, get building, and it is never perfect after the first try. After rebuilding it a few times you will see the result is getting better and better.
  10. A week ago, YnyklY and me were visiting the Amsterdam in Amsterdam. The Amsterdam is a replica of a trading ship which was in service of the VOC. The weather was beautiful and we had a great day. Not only because we've visited the Amsterdam, we have paid Captain Blue Hair and Bonaparte a visit as well! We've seen some of the famous CBH masterpieces, and some top-secret projects. And of course we saw the Prins Willim with our own eyes! Amstedam is a nice city as well, a lot of awesome buildings! Some of them you can recognize from paintings. Great view. There she is! A very nicely decorated stern. And a view from the front, I really like the headrails. After that, we went aboard. Here you can see the bowsprit. A view from the quarterdeck. The compass cabinet, along with the lights so they can watch the compass at night. Me doing odd at the steering wheel, I tried to move the ship. Unfortunately it didn't move. Below deck, with some large barrels. Perhaps there was rum in them... The capstan to raise the anchors, cargo and the yards. A gunport. The gundeck filled with cannons. VOC engraved in a cannon. One of the 20 (?) cannons on board. The comfortable captain's cabin. The sleeping cabin, it was rather comfy in there. The dining cabin of the ship. And the Captain's furniture in the cabin. That was it! We had an amazing day, and if you ever want to visit Amsterdam, then you have to visit the Amsterdam as well! I hope you've enjoyed the pictures!
  11. I like the smart technique for the tumblehome you use. Making curved shapes in a ship is always difficult, but it adds a lot of realism. No doubt the hard work will pay in the end. Keep it up!
  12. Exactly what I was planning to say. Great creation, it reminds me on the roman empire somehow...
  13. You are my man! I'm looking forward to sail next to you, looking for enemy vessels and barrels with odd generals!
  14. Well, I am a French Bluecoat. Friends with the Spanish and merchants and the US. At this moment I am struggling with the British Redcoats, Pirates and enemy Privateers.
  15. Aye! Have you introduced yourself in the "Hello my name is..." forum too? Your first MOC is a nice effort, much better then my first one! Welcome to EB and have fun!
  16. Okay! Here's my list: 1x3 tiles, I think everyone knows the reason why. They would look very nice on wooden structures for example, and it is cheaper instead of 1x1 and a 1x2 tile. Smaller cannons, the current ones are quite big and sometimes they can't be used on a ship. Yellow, tan or dark tan cannon carriages. Brown looks good too, but green, red and blue is not always suitable on a ship. Muskets. They would do a much better job then the current blunderbuss. Cottonbales, sacks and bottles. I'd like to see some more useful accessoires within the pirates theme. That was it for now! Perhaps I will get some other ideas soon. edit: updated!
  17. Awesome creation again Michael! It looks great! No doubt that is a rough guy, I think I shouldn't mess with him. Nice job!
  18. The adventures helmet looks nice along with the dwarf minifig. Good combination and a great idea! Now only hope the dwarfes won't ruin the artifacts and ruins they find because of their rough mining skills. I'm looking forward to see the next part!
  19. The story is nice, and the MOCs are great as well. I like the buildings a lot! Nice eye for details, but where are the windows for the window frames in the first miracle? The castle in the second one is neat too. And the third one contains some nice buildings! Keep it up!
  20. 6 studs between the gunports isn't that much. The hull is for 1/3 finished now, and from the 44 guns there will be 6 on the quarterdeck and 2 on the forecastle. And fourth rates were quite long ships compared to their height. Thanks! I'm glad I've inspired someone with the new 'pirate fashion'. Top hats are hard to get though, there aren't many sets they come in. The torso's won't be a big deal. I hope to make some more mariners and other crewmembers soon! The decals are ready...
  21. Glad to hear that! The Spaniards fought with us against you. You guys don't know your enemy... @ the ship: I think the bow technique looks good, but the headrails are not perfect yet. I think it is a good thing to take a close look on real ships or models. The bricks are no problem I see, just take a closer look at the shapes and details and it will turn out nicely. Your galleries look good so far, and the stern looks good as well! Good luck with the build, I'd like to see the finished product.
  22. That's right, and thanks to their curved shapes it is really hard to make in LEGO. However, I've found a nice solution though. I will post it soon. Now I'm off to see headrails in real, on the Amsterdam in Amsterdam!
  23. Like Captain Blue Hair, I'd like to see 1x3 tiles as well. They would solve many problems and avoid the annoying effects of using 1x2 and 1x1.
  24. I will buy 48 new shiny cannons soon to fill my ship's gundecks. :pir-skull: Then I have a lot of cannons!
  25. All that was already included in my Empire: Total War gold edition. Which I own already a long time. The HMS Victory isn't historiccally accurate though. An odd figurehead, stern and coloursheme. It looks rather cool, but it isn't the HMS Victory. An updated First Rate with a new name, that's what I think. The Roger's Rangers are cool units though.
